Thank you!! Right now I am on a plan with my husband for unlimited Data & he called about reducing mine to the minimum or getting rid of it all together and they reduced our bill substantially but I still have some. If I fail at reaching my goals for my phone use, I'll just get rid of it.

Girl, I love you. You’re so real and open. That is so refreshing. I don’t drink and I do exercise but I need to put down that darn phone! I definitely need to be more present with my husband and others. Also allowing my mind to settle down and be still and quiet with no TV. Especially use that time to read God‘s word. Thank you for the encouragement and I find you to be a sweet young woman. I say young because I am 70 years old this month.😉

Thank you for sharing I loved it! It’s encouraging to know someone else was also experiencing what I was. I don’t drink anymore, I’m not on any social media since I was in college 12 years ago. I don’t do caffeine other than preworkout now because I started working out 5 months ago and I feel AMAZING compared to how I felt only 6 months ago. Six months ago I would stumble out of bed, make breakfast and feed my son then by 10:00AM I was already wanting to go back to sleep. It was awful! No one talks about it but I am so grateful I noticed something was wrong. I felt like I was old old like almost dead old and decided a change needed to be made because I’m only 32. I couldn’t understand how at only 32 my body ached so much and all I ever wanted was to sleep. I’m happy you’re doing better!

Girl, you have a lot going on. Work, mommy-hood, cooking & cleaning, that's all so much for anyone to handle!! Contrary to what culture says- The most important job you are doing is raising your precious children, & enjoying watching them grow ❤ So I don't bring my cell phone out with me if I can get around it. Sometimes I do need it for my Poshmark business, but I'm very leary of the damage being done to my body by the EMF's, as well as the built in addictive qualities. . *That* is why u can't just give it up! Neurologists and software experts worked together to build addiction into apps/programs/platforms. (Very bad for children!!)I keep only the most necessary apps on my phone. So glad you are doing all this and AMEN!!! *Be Present* and be healthy. God bless you and its always a pleasure to see a video from you! ❤🙏

Hey from Dartmouth NS! I love growingannanas! Her workouts are great. My husband and I gave up alcohol just before the pandemic and never missed it. Once in a while now we'll have a glass of wine but that's it. Usually for a special occasion. I stare at a screen all day at work so I find that's a deterrent to keep me off my phone in my spare time. I've also amped up my water intake to about 2.5-3 L a day, although I still have my 2 cups of coffee in the AM. Love your podcast and glad you're doing well!

I really enjoy your videos. I feel like we are on parallel journeys. I have actually spent the last year slowly doing the things you listed. The thing that got me started was noticing my screen time. It scared me. Our phones can be such a huge distraction on every other element of our lives. When I stopped spending as much time on my phone I realized how my physical life needed improvement. It has been a domino effect. I feel so much more at peace, and aware of my own needs. I also realized a short while ago, that my own Christian beliefs align with the physical changes I was making. I feel more whole as a person and so much more aware of my own needs, my family’s needs, and the ways I can contribute to the community where I live. When we are present it helps us to know where we can be a positive influence. I feel like my time is being spent much more meaningfully.

Hi Faith, I think that is something I didn't mention but you are absolutely right. Being online all of the time distracts us from our real life and our real thoughts and we stop coping with stress or having deep thought about our feelings. I think this is just terrible for our mental health.

Love this, thanks. I absolutely see a difference in myself when I cut out the social media- it’s an emotional rollercoaster and I realized that within two scrolls I can go from elated to devastated- it’s emotionally draining. I’ve also recently realized that I may have some seasonal depression and am going to do my best to keep up exercising during the winter months to try and combat it. I think it’s easier to do all the things right (exercise, eating, etc.) during daylight saving time- wish the US would move away from time changes. Thanks, Susie!

Thats exactly how I felt. and how could I possibly find time when Im so busy & so tired?? I just made myself go be alone and watch a workout video 1-2 times a week and did what I could until eventually I formed a habit. Walking would have been good too but I found doing it in my basement at night when my kids went to sleep or before they woke up was better.

So glad to see a new vid from you, Susie! Your smile is radiant, and I’m so glad these things have helped you. I am also struggling with the phone. A few steps I’ve taken are banning my phone from the bathroom and bedroom, and no phone after dinner. Now I’m starting to set a timer and do targeted consumption of specific media for a limited time. 🤞🏼 I left Facebook years ago, and I only use Instagram kind of like TV. My friends and family can text me! To me social media became a little like someone showing you all their vacation photos every time you visit. The first time it’s cool, and then…😬 Have a wonderful time with all your newfound presence and energy! ✨

What a great video! You have such a great way of explaining it! I've deleted insta, fb & twitter from my phone a few months ago and I've been so much better! I only allow myself phone time that feels either productive or at least doesn't make me unhappy f.e. KZbin. Even then I try to reduce my phone time because even if it's not inherently negative it's still not really good for my mental health. Somedays I have the strong urge to put my sim card into my old flip phone and not look back. What your approach reminded me of is the '10-second rule', if you want to stop a habit make it hard to do it, so that it takes you more than ten seconds and the things you should do easier (less than ten sec). I've never really liked alcohol so I don't really drink, so whenever I do drink I just remember again how much I dislike it haha. Regarding sport: I really believe finding a sport you enjoy and are excited about is the best way to stay healthy, both body and mind. For some people it's going to the gym, for others it's dancing, or soccer or so on. It's really important that the movement/the activity brings you joy so that you always come back to it!

I know you're a busy mama and wife and you got a house to take care of as well and you live in Canada just like I live in Michigan so we don't get a lot of sun and in the winter we can't get out as much. It could be that you need to sun to get some vitamin D levels because vitamin D helps with energy. Have you ever had your blood work done and seeing if all your levels are good because I am vitamin D deficient and I'm on a borderline of B12 and iron. I have autoimmune diseases such as lupus Sjogren's rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis which isn't an autoimmune disease. When I went to the doctor my vitamin D level was at 9 and it's supposed to be between 39 and 90 or something like that so I was very deficient in vitamin D3. I have been taking it for almost a year now of 50,000 units pill once a week and I got up to 29 but it won't go any higher. Probably because I'm not out in the sun but I heard that autoimmune diseases suck the vitamin D out of your body. Next time you go to your doctor ask them for a blood panel to make sure all of your levels are okay. You look so beautiful I love your hair short like this. I'm going to watch this video and your next video which was your last one because I haven't watched you in a while

I've been trying to drop my smart phone. Bought a "dumb" Orchid F1 phone and enjoy it. It has navigation and great voice-to-text. I also had to get a kitchen timed safe for my smart phone, because it ruins my life. This only started after the lockdowns started and I couldn't go anywhere

I found that over time I was able to keep my phone by just removing all social media apps off it and changing my settings so that Its a huge pain to download and sign into FB, IG etc. I also keep my phone out of reach and have gotten in the habit of putting it out of reach when I get home from work..... Its a struggle

@@CurlySusie After watching the whole video, I'm glad you made this. It's great for me that there's someone I'm subscribed to that sounds so relatable. I looove helping people (paramedicine) but my general level of energy has been so low the past couple years. I live in rural BC, so I'll see what kind of exercise groups I can join. I'll also look into the parental settings (the app time limit never worked for me either hahaha). Fortunately, I already don't drink caffeine and learned not to have alcohol in the house quickly.
