I appreciate your message of balance and health. And I lost 70 pounds counting calories more than a decade ago. But I FEEL better when I am eating lower carb with an emphasis on whole foods (including some fruit). It's also much easier to stay in a good caloric range because I am not experiencing insulin spikes and dips fueling cravings.

Congrats on the weight loss! You look fantastic. I had a similar weight loss journey and lost 20 pounds in 5 months. Great tips! I would add the one tip for eating that really helped me and maybe will help someone reading this... is that I was constantly over eating. I would often eat until my stomach felt very full (we all know that feeling). I made a strong effort to pay more attention to my body and stop eating before that feeling crept along. This was a huge break through! I didn't have to limit WHAT I was eating. I suppose this supports your method of counting calories! In any case, great job and keep up the healthy lifestyle. Take care!
@heatherb57362 жыл бұрын
Did you know that the body has a way of signaling when it's full? You will sigh. Yup, as soon as you're body has had enough, you'll pause and take a deep breath. Try and see. Now, it does happen, the trick is paying attention!

I've been doing intermittent fasting since July and feel amazing. There are many peer-reviewed research studies showing the many health benefits of fasting such as autophagy, lowering risk of alzheimer's, reducing inflammation, etc... (it's not just about weight loss). I would recommend for people to look into that before just taking your word for it. Congrats on your weight loss.

@@gravincas3916 I've lost 40 pounds of fat, increased muscle weight and bone mass. Recently had heart checked, blood checked and everything has improved. Fasting can improve your metabolism,. You burn fat because it reduces the number of times insulin is released. It's better for your digestive system as well. I was borderline diabetic, but that has also improved. There's even research to show it reduces risk of cancer. So this isn't just about me "feeling good". I've tried many things to lose weight the past 30 years and this has been the easiest. I stop eating 6pm then break my fast 10 am or later. I have treats almost every day in moderation and get to eat regular food. I haven't cut any food out of my diet and I'm never hungry. If you eat enough protein, fat and carbs you'll feel satiated and not hungry. Truly feel very grateful to have found it. It's a lifestyle change that I can see myself doing for life.

You inspire me. Really you do. I am in my early 30 and I have been so lazy. I keep on procrastinating for so long and I keep reassuring myself that it's obvious that one will gain weight in their 30s. So accept it and move on. You opened my eyes. I'll start exercising asap. Nothing special just some basic workout. Your diet tips seem manageable. I tried keto and intermittent fasting before but I couldn't keep up more than a week. Thank you so much for this video.

I found it easier to be consistent in my exercising when I started doing it for my health, both physical and mental, instead of wanting to lose a ton of weight. Because I was always frustrated when I didn’t immediately start dropping the pounds the minute I hit the gym. I hate restrictive diets. I’ve done them and always end up binging and being miserable. Keto is huge pet peeve for me. It’s a huge fad and I don’t think it’s healthy.

I totally agree with everything you said. I used to watch The Biggest Loser & yet didn't agree with the their exercise program, because I know that they wouldn't continue with it once they were back home and the same with diet programs. Once they reach their goal, they go back to their old eating habits. I'm not one for totally denying myself either. I enjoy a cocktail or a glass of wine a day. Yes, losing the weight slowly is most likely to stay off. I haven't started exercise yet, just cut back on portion sizes. I realized when I was at my heaviest, that was giving myself as much as I was giving my husband! I've learned to drink my coffee black. I also realized to pay attention to my stomach, stop when I start to feel hungry and snacking after supper, was just a habit, I wasn't even hungry. I lost 20 lbs the 1st yr & so far 10 lbs in the 2nd yr. I don't remember the last time I was wearing regular size clothes. Congrats on your success! You look great!

Great video, Susie! I love all of these points. I've always found that trying to cook from scratch as much as possible has kept me at a consistent weight, though I do slim out the harder I train - just a few pounds down and more muscle. I have no idea how many calories I consume in a day and I've never kept track. I also don't own a scale I base it on how my clothes fit, but because I'm petite if I let myself go even a bit I can't fit into anything. I'm pescatarian but other than that eat full fat everything - I try to eat all "real" food. I enjoy my treats too but prefer local bakeries over processed packaged treats. I also don't eat to where I feel gross because that ruins the experience. I'm training for 100 miles in August (it's been postponed for three years) so nutrition is always on my mind. I also have to start more strength training to my running, which I've been putting off over lack of time and procrastination. Anyhoo, thanks for the vid!

Loved this video! I hit the same point this year where I really wanted to focus more on health than looks when it came to my eating and workouts. I visited a nutritionist over 6 months and it made a HUGE difference. It really allowed me to be able to eat in a way that benefited my health goals long term,. My energy, sleep and overall mood improved significantly and I dropped 10lbs that had been my nemesis. I do intermittent fasting usually Mon-Fri on a 16/8 split, mostly by default because I don't eat after supper and by the time I have my morning coffee and get to work, it's 16 hrs later (I eat when I get to work when my belly tells me I'm hungry 🙂). I've started incorporating more workouts at home (still not ready to return to the gym yet...) using the growingannanas YT channel along with yoga and dog walking. Every bit helps!

It all comes down to eating less calorie-dense food. Oil, dairy and meat are often overconsumed on the daily. When you eat more vegetables, fruits, whole grains and beans, it fills you up without weighing you down and you get all of that healthy fiber that's great for your microbiome and digestive tract. You don't have to cut your faves, just eat more of the good stuff!

I walk my dogs for an hour every morning and eat a fairly healthy and balanced diet but the weight is creeping on. I have now started exercising at home and was doing OK until I caught covid 2 weeks ago. I'm now adding in every second day where I do either cardio (step aerobics) or strength online with cdornerfitness on KZbin - she is awesome and adds 8 varying classes a week to KZbin. She stresses the importance of some strength training. I also like to include Yoga a few days a week to improve flexibility and balance. I love intermittent fasting. It works really well for me as I feel sick when eating in the morning, and it helps me keep my calories in check. I can eat higher calorie meals for lunch and dinner, so I don’t feel like I’m limiting calories (1730 kcal/day). I also feel it has cured my sweet cravings. I’m not craving sugar at all anymore, which is a great bonus I hadn’t counted on. I have friends who say they could never do IF, as they’re always starving in the morning. They manage their food intake in other ways. To each their own. 😊
