The good thing is TORO owns VENTRAC. AND they are located in Ohio. A Ventrac would handle that hill at the church and other tasks you come across in your business. Spencer Lawn care seems to be expanding where such a piece of versatile equipment would be very valuable. That would also give you time to take down your Christmas decorations. Great video.

One of my first jobs was summer grounds crew on a high end local golf course. One way we made short work of steep banks with tight spaces, like the hill with the fence, was to drill an eyebolt hole into one corner of a push mower deck and tie a rope to the eyebolt and the other end to the mower handle. You start the mower on the flat top, mow the first strip, then use the rope while standing at the top of the hill to drag the mower back and forth as you let it down the hill. Not the most fun, nor the easiest job to get ( there was worse ones like filling the pond pumps with diesel fuel or weedwhacking all the drainages ) but it made what seemed impossible or difficult much much easier in the long run.

Hey Carl and Rachel a lot of people suggesting Ventrac and I don't think even a Ventrac would hold that slope. That is much greater than the 30 degrees Ventrac guarantees.
@happysfamilywnc2 жыл бұрын
@@Bigboyz-li7fo yea a Ventrac would be a big investment for one property and that hill looked steep to me. We mow a lot of hills so a walk behind is a must here and makes hills safe and easy but again for one property that’s even an investment.

@@happysfamilywnc I'm a dare-devil so I would demo a dual-wheeled Wright ZK or Altoz TSX on it. Now that I think about it, there's no chance I'm putting a sit-down machine on that hill. Walk behind or stand-on only.

In my area Fresno California, houses are being built faster then I can blink an eye. They are as close together as possible. They all require a 30 or 21in push mower to get in the gate. The lawns are tiny and take max 10min to mow. I have to remove the trash cans from the side yard to get the mower in the back yard.

Shawn for me just one person I would first advise the potential customer on spots that need to be fixed like the very steep slopes by the playground on doing a terrace block retaining wall on a property that big having equipment that has air conditioning would be a must have cause heat stroke is a serious issue that productivity would go down if not having air conditioning on a mower the fuel usage would be a big charge of having to go back to the truck multiple times that property would be a full day so charge a daily rate from between $1,500.00 to $2,000.00 cause the mowers eat a good amount of fuel more that the sure cans hold

I would just price it out at whatver hourly rate you want to achieve for yourself plus your workers. So if you think 5 hours, let’s say $100 per hour, with three workers mowing, trimming, etc, you’re looking at $1500 per mow maybe once every two weeks so $3K monthly maybe give them a break at $2800 monthly for an annual contract.

You've got a lot of equipment but I don't think you've got the right equipment for that big church property. We make a profit in this business through efficiency. If you don't need the business I would thank them for reaching out but decline to bid. That property will fit with a business that's set up equipmentwise to address those challenges. For the size of your business and the limited amount of production you're getting out of your current lawnmower fleet I wouldn't recommend acquiring yet another piece of equipment.
