Really helpful video for those of us currently doing IR training. Can't wait for the next two videos and any others of your IR training. Thanks Ben!

Very informative! Doing my CBIR currently. Any chance you could forward that plog you were using. I can't seem to find one that works for IR.

Any ice? Great video Ben! That DA42 really is a beast
@PlaneOldBen5 жыл бұрын
You have to show an awareness of potential icing situations - whilst flying under the hood you aren't allowed to look out hence asking the instructor if there is any ice. Although I wasn't wearing the hood on this flight it is taught that every 1000ft or so you check temperatures and pressures along with asking if there is any ice.

struggling with the kap140 13:00 :P. Once alt mode is on, 1 push up or down is +/-20ft to adjust.
@PlaneOldBen5 жыл бұрын
We know how it works - we’ve used it many times before. It was wavering around and not maintaining the altitude correctly so I decided to hand fly, which is good practice! We’re only allowed to use ALT Hold and HDG Hold anyway!

Very nice mate. Finally learnt what the ENR stands for in GPS ENR. Is GPS terminal mode more accurate than the ENR?

Ah excellent , have a google into PBN Navigation that will teach you all about it!

Hi Ben, great video as usual. Did you get a dispensation in hours due to having your IMC rating or was it also PIC already flown under IFR? I'm trying to work out whether to do the ir(r) during ATPLs as a head start on the full IR and do the CB/IR but hearing conflicting info.
@PlaneOldBen5 жыл бұрын
I’d say do your IR(R) and then if you build enough experience do the CBIR! You need to pass the skills test first time though so only do it if you’re sure. If you choose Aeros they do a CBIR assessment where they work out how much of a reduction on the hours you’ll get.

Interesting video Ben. Strange that Scottish work so far south?
@PlaneOldBen5 жыл бұрын
I think it’s due to London Control being a lot busier so Scottish cover slightly further south than you would expect!

Doesn't the king give "FMA" indications on the top of the PFD like the GFC?
@catzert5 жыл бұрын
not in this installation, it`s not integrated with the G1000 like the GFC700
