Wow, Danny Padilla's physique is power packed with thick muscle and great definition. His training that you outlined here is super intense. You are right, how did these guys do it with the frequency and high volume sets and reps. Danny's methods worked wonders for him. Cool footage of Danny posing in the contest.

Undoubtedly the the most UNDERappreciatede bodybuilder of all time!!! Danny Padilla was absolutely flawless and I was very young but when I started bodybuilding in the early 80s he was definitely one of pros that we all learned from and would read everything we could by Danny about how we should train and it was quickly obvious that he almost mirrored Arnold's training. Danny Padilla was my personal favorite short bodybuilder until Lee Priest came on the scene but you did mention it but not fully about Danny being called "The Giant Killer" and how it was explained to me was Rick Wayne the best bodybuilding writer who has ever lived wrote an article and used the term Giant Killer to describe Danny and it was the first time the term was ever used and now any guy shorter than 5foot 5inch that wins a show gets called the giant killer.

Even for only 2 months that is a shocking work load. Chest and back in the morning and legs in the evening just for one day would floor most people never mind 3 times per week. It certainly worked for him. Just look at the end results. One of the most underrated of all time.

At 69 I do 15-30 sets on a 6 day split retired so time is of no concern 30 sets is fair but 90 is well above my level but it all comes back to total weight lifted volume is king the rest is commentary in my view

I think when he says he did 5 sets for an exercise he pyramided up the load each set thus only the last set for an exercise is a "hard" set, so although it's "high volume" the intensity is low as most sets are warm ups
