To explain the main floor/first floor thing: The game was probably made by a European or some other part of the world where floors are counted in the same way. I'm swedish and it always annoyed me as a kid that the ground floor wasn't considered the first floor but it makes more sense if you consider that most European languages have different words for "floor" and "floor" with the word for counting levels often implying something's aloft. It's also pretty common for the ground floor to be called something completely different from the rest of the floors. Like, in Swedish "golv" is the thing that you walk on, "våning" is the word for a house's levels. The French equivalents would be "plancher" and "étage", in Italian it's "pavimento" and "piano" and in German it's "Fußboden" and "Stock". However, both French and German have more unique names for the ground floor, "rez-de-chaussée" and "Erdgeschoss" respectively.(iirc you could say Obergeschoss instead of Stock in German though but it's been years since I studied it) Also, basements are very common here and generally houses are built more organically(like on hill or mountain side, in weird grooves etc) than in the US so if you step inside a building you're unfamiliar with you can't always know whether or not you're on the lowest floor; you do know you're on the main/ground floor. Tl;dr it's not just a weird quirk of the game, it's a weird quirk of many different cultures but there is logic behind it!

yeah, was gonna make a comment myself, but you have made such a nice one :) ground floor (like ground level lol) usually signifies that it is on the same level as the surrounding terrain ^^ in polish we also have different word for floor (piętro, podłoga), but the ground floor has it's own special name (parter) too, so i think it's a very european thing to do ^^ in this case, i think british english uses ground floor and then starts with numbers basically, bcs the dictionary probably gave the british english definition when they were translating it

Danny doesn’t understand. Bad Granny is possibly one of the greatest games out there today. By subverting your expectations and making you question your morality in the game. There is no good or bad, and this game makes you confront the grey area. As the player you assume that you, as a protagonist, should be the “good guy.” But this game breaks barriers and shows that there is no true good. Just like in real life. And my grandma beats me as well.

Danny, in Europe at least, the "second floor" is called the first floor. And the "first floor" for you, is called the "ground floor". Think of it as the "first floor up" kinda logic. Don't know where this game was made from, but im sure many countries around the world also follow this logic.

This is a common thing in several Asian countries as well. So this app, and probably every other one Danny tries here, were likely produced by either asian and/or European companies that make their livings pumping out as many cheaply made apps as possible, which they then stuff so full of advertisements they often become almost entirely unplayable unless you pay to remove them. Sometimes you can guess what country the game was made in just by the specific grammatical errors made in English, if you have an idea of how their native grammatical structures work.
@erinmacneil65862 жыл бұрын
In defense of the "Bad Granny" floor naming, some places name the floors differently. In France the "1st" floor is called "le rez-de-chaussée" or the "ground floor" and the second floor is called the "premier étage" or the "first floor". I'm guessing the game was translated from French or another language that uses a similar naming system for floors. That or its a cultural language difference.

My bad I just wrote this comment myself... it goes "Ground floor" then "first floor" here in England. Although for the most part it's people in the building trade or something connected to building I.e architect etc that would say this because you come across it alot. Alot of people would just call the ground floor the first or bottom floor and the next floor would be the second. Speaking as a plumber it's the same as when people call the "sink" in your bathroom exactly that a "sink" when it's actually a "basin" the "sink Is in your kitchen... However if your not in plumbing or some of the building trade you would just call both a sink

Bad Granny is actually a deep analysis of the decay of a lonely elderly woman's mind, as well as how the opportunistic nature of those around her, stealing instead of providing support, causes her to turn violent. My theory is that Bob is actually her grandchild, and realizing the fact that his granny is senile, begins stealing her personal possessions. This symbolizes the pettiness of family members squabbling for inheritance. She them turns to the wall, defeated, and runs. This symbolizes her desire to run back to her youth, her health, her long dead family and friends. But this is futile. She is stuck in this reality of loneliness, where the only way she can protect her home is to turn to murder. Give your granny a call sometime.

For example, I was on a plan for 4 sessions a month, and they wouldn't allow me to speak to my therapist for a 4th session unless I paid for another 4 sessions for next month. I thought it was incredibly manipulative, because I should get the entire service I paid for regardless of whether I renew or not. I didn't end up taking a 4th session because I didn't gel well with my therapist and didn't want to pay another $200-ish dollars just to say "bye". It's so nice to see so many Gregs speaking about better help controversy - I was so surprised and thought it was a joke when Danny posted his first video with BH as a sponsor... Don't trust BH they do not in fact have real highly qualified specialists and your personal and medical data is not safe

My mom has worked for better help for a year and it has treated her awfully too. She has been in the field for over 20 years and joined BH to move to a part time job. However, they constantly take over hours outside of work and even make her fill in for other therapists. It's overall a terrible company
@striderstache992 жыл бұрын
Got my therapist through Better Help, licensed in my state no less. We discussed moving off of BetterHelp and I immediately jumped at the chance. She was significanly cheaper than BetterHelp as she ran her own practice on the side, and we had longer sessions. She used to work on a pysch ward in a large hospital in my state. She's been great so far.

Betterhelp is infamous for sharing user data with third parties. It's ambiguous as to how the information used in connecting a user to a therapist on the service is used, and it can be potentially sold or shared to other companies without your permission. Fascinating Horror once advertised Betterhelp as a sponsor, and removed it after learning about all of the controversies. I have tremendous respect for them for doing this, and I honestly think Danny should consider doing the same thing.

I adore how much Danny puts himself into each movie and video game he interacts with, like the way he criticizes is usually not to point out plot holes or be like 'how does that work in this universe?' he fully immerses into it, that's my favorite thing about him. Like in Marmaduke, his question wasn't 'How did that pit bull lift up the whole convention center?' it was 'How did the pit bull not instantly win after lifting up the convention center?' XD

I've used it before and none of the therapists I tried were helpful, one in particular was definitely not qualified to be treating my specific issues, she was technically an "art therapist" or something like that. This company also does not treat its therapists well, Mickey Atkins did a video going very in depth on all Betterhelp's issues and I highly recommend watching it, she explains everything super well and is a therapist herself too so she has a lot of valuable perspectives on why and how this service is harmful

Get your money, but everyone here should know that Better Help's user agreement circumvents your HIPPA rights, does not guarantee your privacy, will share your medications, medical history, and app usage as they see fit. They also restrict therapist's ability to interact (with things like word count limits for chats), and don't pay them a fair wage. Especially as we teeter on the right to medical privacy, be careful out there.
