it's kinda like the cut content with Oscar of astora. Oscar was supposed to have a bigger role in dark souls 1 with switching sides of frampt or kaathe to be the opposite of what you are.like say if you side with frampt,oscar sides with kaathe and vice versa. the only difference here is that anri would be male or female.

Alex is supposed to be a shortened version of Alexander or Alexandra so technically two separate but similar names with the same short version. Although I admit that I have a few friends called Alex who just see that as their name rather thinking of it as being short for Alexander.

dude simply kill the pilgrim of londor at the church of yorshka he is at the left of the door when you enter to the church he is using a spell to look like the statues in there, he is at the corner, hit the statue and no longer she will be using chameleon and you´ll se her and you´ll kill her. then in anor londo there´s a summon sign to enter to her world to kill aldrich right before the big gate where are the 2 silver knights

There was actually a nice theory on the Dark Souls Reddit that Horaced followed the titanite lizards, mistaking them for the prism stones that Anri used in case Horace got lost. So, he followed them to that cave, and eventually hollowed when Anri never showed up.

Treecko Kirby its been ruins for a loooong time (prob since dark souls 1) keep in mind everyone that we have seen from Astora has been undead so it makes sense that it has been in ruins. I would say the same for Carim and perhaps Catarina though we know the least about that kingdom. For the most part they are all destroyed as there is no way they have lasted since Dark Souls 1 seeing how Lordran has been long replaced by Lothric and perhaps the kingdom of Carthus (the catacombs)

NinjaGamer2003 Well, in dark souls history repeats itself. Astora and other recurring lands are not the same place, but simply have the same name. This is why Carim knights have looked different in every game. Astora may be an exception, and another interesting thing to explore is the fact that Solaire, a knight of Astora, knows of the time stuff. It's quite curious that a character from a place that's always stayed the same would know this.

My theory is that... Since undead go hollow when they lose purpose and their main goal...she will anyways, whatever you do. She's bound to Horace by some sort, and if you tell her you seen him, she loses the will to fight, find Aldrich and fullfil their revenge. Same goes for helping her kill Aldritch. After all that, what is left for her to do/live for? She goes hollow. Correct me if I'm wrong. Aside from that I love her story, just like I did Solaire's and Sigmeyer's in first Dark Souls. DS2 didn't have that much interesting lore among NPCs, glad to see they pushed it forward in DS 3. Really nice video, earned a sub man. :)

5:52 Interesting fact: In my first run of the game, I knew of the existence of the pilgrim since I watched another video about it before hand, I got Anri up to this point, not following the Lord of Hollows ending - but the thing is, the Pilgrim was *not* in the room, but Anri was still assinated and I found them later in. Not sure what I did exactly, but just something that happened

Interestingly enough, in the cemetery outside the Cathedral of the Deep, up on the hillside right above the pit where we find Executioner's Greatsword, we also find the Astora Greatsword. So it seems that perhaps this cemetary itself was either a part of Astora or indeed that is where both Horace and Anri are "revived" to fight their eternal battle against Aldritch. After all we first meet the two at the Halfway Fortress bonfire, just down the road from the cemetary, past the Crystal Sage's abode and the Crucifixion Woods. It's possible Anri and Horace woke up somewhere further away as it's clear that the cemetery goes on for miles, much further than what we can actually walk through, and then continued down the road until... Well, until their met by the Unkindled One.

as per timelines go, I believe yohrm was the oldest and then followed by the abyss watchers and then aldrich and finally lothric. based upon the the living evidence in the game, aldrich has a lot of alive followers and his world seems to be still in order compared to the other. watchers world has fewer followers and the land is swamp filled but not completely ruined. whereas mostly the profaned capital is forgotten and only evidence outside is that of profaned greatsword that pontiff has which he found under iryhtill. finally it's quite evident that lothric didn't die at all. I'd love to hear what you guys think.

I'd say that's a solid assumption. The Pontiff did end up excavating the Profaned Capitol, so that implies his and Aldrich's time was a good deal after Yhorm's. It gives the Abyss Watchers enough time to both lose Artorias' real name to time and for Farron to decay after they went to the Flame. Seems legit to me.

It makes sense - Yhorm's profaned capital was plundered to some extent by Sulyvahn after all, and then Aldrich seems to have appeared in Irithyll after Sulyvahn proclaimed himself Pontiff.

I like to think that Anri and Horace had a previous epic showdown with Aldritch in the First Kiln, maybe they led Aldritch there, maybe they were part of a previous plot to lure him there, idk. But then all three of them got consumed by the first flame. Anri and Horus were unfit to link the flame, but Aldritch was acceptable. Then when the bell tolled, all of them were revived at the same time, which is why Anri and Horus didnt know where Aldritch had gone.

Horace had his tongue cut out by the cathedral before he and Anri were to be fed to alderich before they escaped to Astora. Anri's armor is there or not depending on the gender of the character Anri most likely was born close to the cathedreal and was taken with her parents, or even given up by her parents as a way to spare their own lives, but was told of astora and knew it was far enough away that alderich couldn't get to her. What could have happened was that this happened during DS1 or even DS2 before alderich was made a lord of cinder and was simply a higher up in the cathedral at the time who was already eating other people. this would mean that the elite knights would have been there to inspire Anri more on, and she may have even been taken in by the noble who's sword she wields after his death and very much so hers as she would awaken clad in the elite knight armor with the sword, most likely training the entire time with Horace to get revenge on alderich. on a side note, there is one more elite knight in DS3, one that we know nothing about other than, they are left dead at a basin in the graves, with the ashen estus flask, another knight in elite knight armor. This could be just a throw back to DS1 with oscar giving us the estus flask, but I belive that this could well be another knight that came with Anri and Horace, either to guide them, or to watch over their graves outside the firelink shrine (Since we don't know where their adventure starts) This knight could also be the elite knight who is the same gender as the player and perhaps this could mean (In pure speculation) That there was two people called Anri, male and female. but for whatever reason the same gender as the player one dies before we awaken leaving the opposite gender one alive to allow the story to make sense

Thanks you for bringing up that all of the unkindled seem to have been revived to kill a specific lord of cinder. It was one of the first things I noticed doing the quest lines in this game. It makes me think that we, the player character, have some sort of connection to Lothric but there is no real evidence pointing to the player having any sort of back story that I can find. Perhaps we attempted to link the fire because Prince Lothric would not and now we are back to finish the job. Just speculation but I do feel the game heavily implies that each unkindled was brought back for a very specific reason.

My theory on Anhri going hollow after helping her kill Aldrich, is that of course she went looking for Horace in the Smoldering Lake. She later found the body of hollowed Horace, but she/he was expecting him to be alive. Anhri found the corpse after the player character killed him, and Anhri sets up a sort of grave or memorial to him, evident by the lleyewin(?) (I don't know how to spell it) shield and the red hilted halberd now set up, (Horace's choice weapon and shield) where hollowed Anhri is looking (sometimes, along with the memorial, a prism stone, the stones Ahnri used to guide Horace back together, evident by his/her dialogue in the catacombs, is placed as a sort of replacement for flowers.) At first, Ahnri's main goal was to kill Aldrich, but after losing Horace, she/he then had another objective, which kept her unhollowed, until she found her old friend in the smoldering lake. After she/he found Horace, and mourned for him, Ahnri completed his/her objective and had nothing

does anyone else think that ludlith linked the flame after the twin princes defeated the soul of cinder because it makes sense if you think about it Ludlith isn't strong enough to defeat the soul but he is strong enough to link the flame and delay the age of darkness a little bit until someone else comes after him to link it and in the early dark souls 3 version the high wall of lothric was named high wall of ludlith plus he is the only lord to return to his throne because feels that's the way to help the chosen undead ( that's you) to elongate the age of fire

You have done a really great video ! The fact that only "lords connected unkindled" are resurecting from their ashes make me think about what are we (in the game). If Anri is linked with Aldrich, Siegwart with Yhorm and Hawkwood with the Abyss Watchers it is possible that we can be the undead that Soul of Cinder burns in the trailer of DS3. Anri was one on many undead bring to Aldrich (Evangelist Set and Aldrich Soul) from the undead settlement. I think Anri has another relation with Aldrich, stronger than the other undead and this can be her links with the noble Astorian familly. ----- HIGHLY SPECULATIONS ----- (no concrete evidences) We know that Aldrich was once before in the Cathedral of the Deep, executing Sulyvahn's orders. Near the cathedral, in the grave outside we can find the Astora Greatsword in a corpse, an hollow praying at it. It is possible that before the reign of Sulyvahn, the Cathedral was the home of many Astorians. Failing to defend the city and the cathedral from the "Evil Eyed creature", Sulyvahn orders the massacre of all Astorians, prisonning the old king and becoming the Pontif they all feared (from Sulyvahn's soul) orienting the research on the Deep and let the survivors become hollow near the Cathedral. The undead Anri was burned to feed the fire when Aldrich needed it. Times have passed and Aldrich has even feed the fire to become Lord of Cinder. But now the bells toned and the unkindled Anri's come again through the road of sacrifice to claim Aldrich Souls. The theory also takes into consideration the fact that during the fight between Astora and Sulyvahn's army, many might has been corrupted by the deep explaining the facility for Anri to become hollow and claimed the status of Lord of Hollow (Yuria dialogue and questline). Again this is highly speculations ! Sorry for the long comment ^^ ... and for my bad english ^^"

Going with the link between ash and Lord theory, it could well mean that the player character would have a connection with Lothric and Lorian - but given that it's an RPG, your character's backstory is entirely up to you! But even that could provide people with a template to work with; a thief caught trying to steal Lothric's sword, executed and buried, a knight hired by the kingdom, a noble betrayed and wrongfully executed, a court sorcerer who discovered the truth... and so on.

My idea is that Anri and Horace were orphans, captured by Aldrich before he was a Lord of Cinder. They escaped him, then he turned into blob-man, became a Lord of Cinder, refused to link the flame, then when he was returned to life Anri and Horace were resurrected so that Aldrich's hunger would be satiated. The fact that those two escaped would likely make them desirable to him and intrinsically linked to his purpose. Only issue with this idea is that if Anri and Horace were really a "vengeant delicacy" for Aldrich, it would seem that he would await their return in the Cathedral prior to heading to Anor Londo.

The other candidate for the wedding is orbeck of vinheim i think. if you play a mage and get orbeck to firelink, yuria will ask you to "deal with him" as soon as possible as he would otherwise take the title of lord of hollows

When you talk about the "Evil Eye" that destroyed Astora, do you speculate that something like the Gazer in Dragon's Crown was responsible?

Well, all we know is that it's called "Evil Eye" which makes me think of a beholder - personally I associate it most with Dragon's Dogma (which has evil eye enemies in it) although obviously I imagine most people associate it more with D&D, which I assume is the origin of such enemies.

I think Anri and Horace were buried in the graveyard outside the cleansing chapel. Once resurrected via the bell they found the astora and execution sets but left the some of the original owner's weapons, namely the executioner's greatsword and the astora greatsword which are found in that same graveyard.

Maybe Anri wasn't strong enough to lift the Astora Greatsword, so left it there. Which works for me, means I get it.

I wasn't really even paying attention until you brought up the fact that each lord of cinder has an accompanying ncp with a quest line that relates to their lord of cinder and I was like "Holy shit how did I not notice this before?!"

lifehunt scythe steals hp and the description of the ring of the evil eye in dks2 says if you look too close, things that write and stir may come into focus. could aldrich be the beast that ravaged astora? also, the rings that pontiff gave his knights caused those who looked into the black orb upon them to be lured into battles of death, transformed into frenzied beasts. food for thought

Well, they say that the thing that ravaged Astora was an "Evil Eye" Although Sulyvahn has the thing with his eye-rings, I think the Evil Eye is supposed to be a Beholder of sorts.

I would assume that in the description of Horace's armor, "corrupt" is relative. For all we know, the way he showed he was "corrupt" was in saving Horace and Anri from Aldritch, going against the plans of Sulyvahn, who branded him as corrupt as a result.

In my first playthrough, I was gonna play as a dark evil protagonist. So, i killed horace in order to kill Anri and take their items afterward. And Anri said this ... 9:58 I stopped emotionless holding my controller thinking....... "What the fuck did do?!".

I figured that the evil eye was just a specific kind of monster that there were several of, and that their souls could be fashioned into rings of the evil eye. I mean, it's not too hard to think that there could have been several knights of astora who were issued astoran straight swords.

Hey Silver Mont do you think that Dark Souls 3's Lore is a little too much fan service? It seems that the games immediate story is trying to branch off down it's own path similar to how DS2 focused on the curse but the lore being too heavily influenced by DS seems to be pulling it down from that. It's like playing a great game but constantly getting an add pop up in the corner of the screen saying "Hey if you like this then you'll LOVE the other one!" and it just leaves an annoying thought in the back of your mind that you're not getting enough new information because it wants to keep you informed about stuff you already know. I just want to know what you think of this and whether or not you think it is a detriment to this game?

The lore has always intrigued me, oh what vast webs does Miyazaki weave. Some of the stories are down right depressing and others sound so very foolish. But the one question that has always burned into my thoughts in Dark Souls, who or what started the the hollowing? Was it the Abyss? Was it Manus, or perhaps everyone's favorite fool Artorias? WTF is the firekeeper doing pointing that black shit in her eyes in the beginning of the intro? (Yeah if you watch carefully in the intro scene with bloody hands she picks up the crown to cover her eyes with swirling dark mass in the middle and then she drags a corpse off to where ever. I believe it is the dead firekeeper on the top of the shrine, shy do you think she gets freaked out about you finding the soul, then composes herself and then tries to say it was her sister. My theory is the firekeeper than went into the Abyss is our beloved firekeep.) She is not the real fire keeper. This is why her hands are bloody. That is why she is happy to end the flames? The biggest crap tastics part of the story line that no one ever touches is you are literally are just a tool, you have no choice but to be the tragic hero. Kind of like Batman. Heheehehehehehhhahahahaha

Anri when unscrambled as an anagram makes Rain. Solaire was sunny and cheerful. Anri is sad and depressed; hence: Rain. Like DS3's equal but opposite Solaire. I can see Oscar's connections as well, though.

Add to her connection with Anri and the pilgrim, Anri's party probably need any power their could get in order to defeat Aldrich so they made the deal with the pilgrim. The place where Anri ended up at the cathedral could be grave of other children. I also see the pattern between lord and unkindle, maybe our PC are not just anybody like previous games but rather someone who had connection with Lothric (kingdom).maybe you only suppose to correct Lothric's cinder but manipulated by Emma to buy Lothric sometime for him to change his mind. "You will not find the Lords of Cinder here. They have left, gone." Ludleth also said "She knoweth her faith. What will become of her upon her duty's end."

Yeah, if every unkindled has a connection with the Lords of Cinder, that same thread would imply the player character has a connection with the Princes in some way. But the player's backstory is always up to the player, so you can extrapolate a lot from that, or not, as you choose!

im really disappointed all 3 of the lords sidequest characters die at the end of there quest imagine if you did all there sidequests and then went to face the soul of cinder they would havshown up behind you like siegwarde does for yhorm, you helped them fight there lords and now they shall help you bring down yours this would have especially been nice if the soul of cinder had some obvious solair influence as if he survives he links the fire, im sure he would be proud of us for our jolly cooperation

I had a thought when you were talking about how you can see horace from where anri is. What if horace fell? hit the ground so hard he hollowed out immediately, then and there. And at that point, anri was already losing it to one degree or another, so it makes sense she wouldn't notice. She may well have just been trudging along, hoping horace would be in her path. Instead of the original assumption of just going crazy, like many players believed at first, isn't it possible he simply went hollow as a result of the drop? It explains horace's presence down there, so far out of the way of his original goal, and why he suddenly disappears and goes crazy.

Hmm... hollowing is a tricky subject; we've rarely seen it happen at first hand. Crestfallen in the first game seems to get very frustrated and wander off, at which point he hollows in/near New Londo, where we find him. Laurentius hollows in Blight and Lucatiel's is a very gradual occurrence that seems to finally be triggered by her probably finding Aslatiel.

It is a tricky subject indeed, but i would only imagine a fall of that height would cause one hell of an existential crisis. That said, its possible he tried to leave as well and noticed the ballista and giant lizard and they also had a hand in it. Even then, he wouldn't have a way back up. Anri doesn't learn of that area unless you tell her of it. Which means she wouldn't cut the bridge as a ladder. Whether its immediate at the time of the fall or after getting gown there, with no way back up, Its entirely possible the fall is the reason he is hollow, directly or indirectly.

I always thought the sword was Oscars because it describes its original owner as earnest and if Oscar was anything, he was earnest in the path he took. And an older sword would have faded in color compared to a new one.

Yeah, assuming it is a character that we meet in the game (and it's entirely possible it was somebody else entirely, as Astora probably has a lot of knights!) I think that would boil down to Solaire, Andre or Oscar. And we know that Solaire has his own blade so we can probably rule him out.

I think it is possible that the Pilgrim from Yuria had the same abilities as Yhoel and gave Anri and Horace Dark Sigils for us to absorb. However it would imply, that they met the Pilgrim before we meet them - maybe we weren't the only one who Yuria tried to win for her cause. Perhaps Anri and Horace just stopped accepting the Sigils once they realised what is happening to them, which would explain why Anri gives us 3 Sigils and not 5 - so Yuria had to rely on us. But even if we don't accept Yhoels 5 Dark Sigils, Anri still ends up in the Tomb with a Sword in her head. Looks like Yuria found someone else for the job.
