The first concert I ever went to was for this album H20 - in 1982 (?) I was in jr high school! Man I saw Daryl Hall sing and was blown away! We lived in Toledo Ohio and because we're between Detroit and Cleveland not many artists stopped in Toledo but Hall and Oates ALWAYS DID. In 85 or 86 my best friend and I saw them on the Big Bam Boom tour - Til Tuesday opened. This is one of the few albums I still have from the early 80s that didn't get lost or tossed by my parents (at some point) . My name is still signed in silver marker in the bottom left corner back of the album. Thanks for a GREAT reaction!!!

This song just like Say No Go, has a deeper meaning. This song is Darryl writing about New York, and it's effect on the human experience, " the beast is in Her heart"

Every relationship I had, has a song that corresponds to it. Blue-eyed, southern belle, preachers daughter….. her car broke down in front of my house. She was mesmerizing. I was completely hypnotized and under her spell. I was helpless! Absolutely no regrets!!!!

Technically, what you're looking for is a time machine. A time capsule is the thing they burry with various artifacts from the present day, in the hopes that it will be found and opened at some point in the distant future. So, while we don't have a time machine for you, we could place you in a time capsule. I just don't think you'd like it in there! 😅😅😅 😂😂😂😂

Produced by Daryl Hall and John Oates. Written by them and Sara Allen. The song is about New York City although the music video depicts the subject as an evil woman. That is simply personification. 🤯 Tommy Matolla was the manager for Hall and Oates. A few years later, he was hired to be an executive for Sony Records, where he would meet, marry and divorce 💔 Mariah Carey. Daryl Hall waa a guest backing singer in a few songs. Same with John Oates Mickey Curry on drums 🥁 He played with Alice Cooper, Cher, Tom Cochrane, Steve Jones, Andy Taylor and Lara Fabian. Curry played as the longtime drummer for Bryan Adams. This song uses the two-step dance 💃 style. Dancing 💃 with the Stars 🌟 featured this song for that style. RIP Tom Wolk, bass guitar 🎸. Suggested videos 📹: 1 Icehouse and John Oates perform Electric Blue. 2 INXS and Daryl Hall perform Original Sin.

Hall and Oates were huge in the 70s/80s. This was their 5th #1 hit on the US Hot 100. And their ninth top -10 single. Their last notable hit was in 1988 when "Everything Your Heart Desires" reached #3. Or perhaps the aptly titled "So Close" (1990) which reached #11.

My wife and I like to say that it's not an '80's pop hit unless it includes the obligatory sax solo.

Great song! For everyone: there is a slow version of this song done by Andrew Barth Feldmab in the movie 'No Hard Feelings' starring Jennifer Lawrence. Surprisingly good! 👌🏻 I even rewinded a couple of times...

Great reaction. I lived through this era in "real time", and you described it perfectly. I hope, for you, that a working time machine gets invented so you can take a ride on it. Liked and already subscribed a year, or so, back. Thanks for posting. 😊

You forgot 4 and 8 track cassette tapes. That's really old school.

Why no John Oates in the title? Is it because of the lawsuit between the duo. 😉
