If you pay close attention at 0:54, you can see the doctor quietly hand "pain" money under the table, after convincing the man to be thankful for it. This is actually some pretty powerful social commentary. David Firth is eluding to the importance of pain in modern medicine. If you think about it, many medical professions, such as rheumatology, base their income soley around pain. Instead of dreading pain like ordinary folk, many doctors are thankful for it, and in a way, serve it. This is why the doctor hands "pain" the money, instead of "pain" handing the doctor money. It really is fucked up when you think about it.
@TheRobotDevilInside10 жыл бұрын
"Take This Pill" "I don't feel anything" "The pill was supposed to make you feel the same!" Pretty much antidepressants!? After which the doctor recommends even more pills to treat those alleged side effects (ADD?) Isn't the nurse weak cause of pills?
@TheFlawlessWin10 жыл бұрын
***** Yes, I agree, but I think there's something different about pain. Fire and car accidents are two horrific tragedies, and I have no problem with people dedicating their lives to serve them. Pain, however, is actually helpful. It lets our bodies know when we are physical and emotional danger, and exploiting that for the sake of profit (which not all medical professionals do) is very manipulative and immoral.

A "Hip Lip" is actually a real thing. when someone looses part of their colon or rectum due to surgery or an accident. Part of the large intestine is brought forth to the abdominal wall, where the area just above the hips is given a stoma where the bodily waste can leave...... It's called a Hip Lip, because the stoma resembles a pair of lips...

it's like some drugs I was using earlier in my life and I took them because I had anxiety depression fatigue and sleep-problems. "fixed it" for some months at the most, then the rest 10 years I just bought them, for a expensive price, and took them without any positive effects; was so addicted that I was "forced" to buy them so I could like... come out of bed and stand up. but totally dead inside. if I didn't take them I knew I ended up in terrible agony and sucide-thoughts, no sleep what so ever. so it is a vicious circle, a spiral straight down to hell. thinking about how I had poisioned my body and brain for over 10 years, and to add to the darkness; I paid a lot to poision myself. can't stop thinking about this some times.

David Firth certainly is a wonderful human being. I believe that, in this video (and in Health Reminder), he's saying that if you feel like your life's been sucking recently, then maybe you might just feel better after relating to these two amusing videos that remark how "bad" you think your life is. Also, he's clearly saying that if you're in pain, just do what you can to be happy/healthy and remember that you're not the only one who lives a "bad" life; you're capable of bettering it. I certainly agree with that; I believe, as humans, it's utterly important to be healthy when it comes to emotions, because we need to experience happiness, compassion, caring, empathy, life, etc. enough to actually feel like life is worth living, overall. Relying on pills and artificial stuff to feel better only shows that that's what your life's come to; being addicted to substances because you're too weak or you don't know how to enjoy life on your own. I do believe some of David's animations have something of a human element to them and that's what makes him truly awesome.

Videos like this remind me that David Firth is a solid decade ahead of the curve in perception. He grasps how institutionalised power in its paranoia works to further its own reign at any cost, the way it manipulates the truth and subverts resistance among the unsuspecting. We live in a world that tells people you need to feel crappy and horrible for all manner of reasons that a child can see are false.

I feel sorry for the nurse personally no one should ever comment suicide no matter what psychological/emotional problems they're going though since that's all I saw in this video. People shouldn't be used as a product if they die even if it "can" protect people which is not likely, they should be put in a grave to honor their existence in this world and merge with it in death. Try tell me otherwise it won't make a difference because life and death are supposed to exist in harmony so honor and appreciate both regardless.
