Dead Island 2 takes place in Los Angeles, California, aka not on an island like the title suggests. This version of LA - cleverly nicknamed HELL-A by the game’s developers - is brimming with undead creatures of all shapes and sizes. At the start of the game, you’re making an attempt to escape the city by plane. Unfortunately things don’t go as planned and you end up right back in the condemned street of LA, fighting your way through hordes of zombies, looking for fellow survivors.
Dead Island 2 is a first-person, semi-open-world action-RPG. Throughout the game you’ll be able to explore iconic Los Angeles locations such as Venice Beach and Beverly Hills, but all these areas are stitched together by loading screens instead of being one big seamless world.
In our preview of the game, Mark Delaney said, “Sometimes the way these areas would snake around surrounded by unclimbable walls felt very restrictive, closer to a game as tightly set as BioShock rather than even the original Dead Island's large hubs. While this is a much more linear game than its predecessors, there are many optional nooks in each area. I encountered many locked rooms, safes, and loot caches that would each require further investigating or even backtracking, some of which wasn't possible in my limited demo.”

Gaming the past few years are all mediocre, triple A going EA or missing core features. Imagine it'd go ''Early Access'' a week or two before launch, after being delayed multiple times xD. Sons of The Forest did it, for some reason people still accept it, lol. I'm gonna wait for reviews and gameplay, before I decide to get this. Hope it'll deliver, so I can enjoy this with my friends.

@@Zoey-rh2gm They literally delayed the game 3-4 times and only announced that it was gonna be Early Access 2 weeks before their ''final'' launch. They never spoke of EA before that for the past 4-5 years of development. Their final delay was being used to ''polish and bug fixes'' since their game was finished. What we got now is super barebones to their previous title's EA launch in comparison too.

The original game areas were divided into different zones which needed loading (beach, jungle, city, prison etc) so that's no different. I'm still on the fence about whether this is a day one purchase or not.

They’ve said that they’re small and restrictive like bioshcok. So probably small districts with a few buildings, maybe some things to collect, but then you are forced to follow a linear path and move on

The only real rpg things in DI1 was skills, which are still present just done differently. Plus it character has innate abilities which DI1 had in the form of fury. Also the way its set up allows you to change builds on the fly instead of being locked at a certain level.
