One of the most profound pieces of advice I’ve ever heard is “You’re not qualified to judge a seat that you’ve never sat in”. I’m not in Mr. Dolphin’s situation, so I can’t say what I would do or what mindset I would have. The more you listen to him speak, the more you can understand where he’s coming from with the prenup. He sounds like he wouldn’t leave his spouse with zero if a divorce were to happen and I can see where someone wouldn’t want to hand over half of their wealth to someone who didn’t help them build it. I believe I’d feel the exact same way honestly lol I wish they would have unpacked his comment about how the primary earner makes most of the decisions. In what context does that apply? I feel like I understand, but it would’ve been good to hear more. Anyway, I’m sure he’ll meet someone that aligns with his values and have the marriage that he so desires. I think that some of his frustration and anxiety over losing could be put at ease by “building” his relationship with God and possible dating mate by not leading with his “stuff” and sometimes there has to be room for compromise and less brashness. There’s so much more to Gain in Love while we’re breathing than to leave here without the stuff and without Love. Prenuptial agreements are acceptable as long as we agree on the terms of the prenup.

It sounds like his biggest issue is that he's married to his work and treats relationships like a business deal-and I don't mean the prenup. It's the fact that when the woman said she was hesitant to sign he IMMEDIATELY ended things despite having feelings, saying her mother was too masculine and controlling, rather than actually TALKING TO HIS WOULD BE FIANCE about what her hesitation was. There's a chance they were having an honest misunderstanding, but there's no room for that in business negotiations. He wants to date a woman who makes less than him because he wants more control in the relationship, similar to how as a CEO he wants more control of his business and is ONLY willing to let it go when the replacement essentially does what he wants. Likewise, he mentions most of the women he dates stop working because they're always on business trips with him. It's good he wants them involved but it sounds like he's bringing them into HIS business world but not shifting his business world to accommodate his partners. Especially since he mentioned constantly hustling to the point he's JUST NOW looking for a partner, not realizing he was "rich," and always feeling financially insecure because of how he grew up. It sounds like he's spent so much time worrying about and flexing about his wealth that he may not have nurtured the other aspects of his life that he'd need for a healthy relationship. Just because your wife can help you IN your business doesn't mean you should treat dating and marriage LIKE a business. And until he makes that distinction, he'll likely not pursue the woman he truly needs (not wants) and struggle in dating.

I 💯 approve this message. I was sued by my ex-husband for $15,000. He got nothing because he put in the separation papers that I didn't owe him anything and he didn't owe me anything. When we went to court the judge asked him did he realize what he did. When he said no, the judge laughed and said, "You put your foot in your mouth when you created this agreement with her." I laughed all the way out of the court.

I signed my separation papers on October 20th of 2018 and my divorce was final on May 15th of 2019. We went to court in December and the judge told him, "Nope, not today buddy" lol. The separation papers were included in the divorce decree

I am 100% in agreement with signing a prenuptial agreement. I value a men or women that work hard & and grow. I personally said that if God grants me a husband, a prenuptial agreement is necessary. I have been married and experienced being a caregiver to a chronically ill child & husband with kidney failure. I worked hard to maintain a home & bills while sleeping many nights in the hospital. Life had difficult days. I had no complaints, just prayers for God's strength, healing, & support. God's favor was with me as I never had to beg for bred and never missed a bill payment. There is no way I can put myself at risk for someone to gain 1/2 for what I work hard for if things don’t work out. I value life, health, and building wealth. We have to use wisdom.

So far great episode! I’m only at 19:20….Laterras I admire how you cover such a vast amount of topics on your podcast. There’s so many layers/levels to marriage & you are covering them with such exceptional excellence! It’s evident her mother is too involved in her relationships, she should have said she don’t want to sign the prenup instead of…her mother doesn’t want her to. Because ultimately even if she seek advice from her mother…the final decision is hers not her mother. I think the reason he was able to walk away so easily is because there’s more to it. He was probably already thinking about or had thought about breaking it off… this situation just made it easier for him. Plus they were just “talking” about it, she should’ve known him good enough that he wouldn’t just kick her out on the streets penniless if they divorced. I wouldn’t want half of his fortune anyway that I didn’t help him build. That’s ridiculous!!

I walked away with my dignity and my maiden name back. He was more shocked when asked for NOTHING. I am a nursing student, paying for it on my own. I’m happier now than I have never been. This is what I've been saying, just because we are women and beautiful, we cannot demand to reap where we didn't sow. A prenup will actually push you as a woman to not sit there, relax and be entitled. I wonder how it was written, BUT some things are up for conversation with the right person. I think prenuptial agreements absolutely make sense especially after the age of 30. It will enable amazing conversations. You can update it in the post nuptial. Writing it and discussing it will likely be the thing that helps you not even need it. Don’t sign blindly. Discuss together and understand concerns.

Facts! I thought that was not the best advice. If one persons net worth is negative and the other $1 mil coming into a marriage, that’s a huge ass difference and could affect your retirement should things go south. While they won’t be entitled to the assets before, once they are commingled they may be affected and in some states they could be entitled to the growth of your assets. Protect yourself at all income levels!

I have always felt signing a prenup makes sense. My words were the exact same! No one should expect to walk away with someone else’s dream after they have already gone through the process of building it successfully. The time being spent with someone who has been successful should be spent learning and should the relationship ever end you will separate leaving with information to build wealth on your own. I have always believed that working together to build an empire is even better. When couples build together if it should ever end they should care enough for one another to want the best for one another and walking away should not include fighting over money and material things.
