This is an insane tip! I've been following you for years and you got me into rings- and have been trying (and failing at) Pike pushups. This is such a smart tip and eliminates the resistance just like you said. God, I wonder how many times I've thanked you already in this lifetime!

If you have consistent access to a bench or chair to do decline pike pushups, it's likely going to be easier to stay consistent with it. But when you've gotten super comfortable with decline Pike PU's and want to do wall-HSPU's and negative-wall-HSPU's, the rings really shine with the less resistance (and ability to press out of it by straddling as a last resort which is far more cool.)

@@AntranikDotOrg I have consistent access to rings than a normal elevated surface! Tried your tips today and was able to barely get 2 reps in. Not too bad for a start- insanely tough as it is.
@AntranikDotOrg2 жыл бұрын
Nice, what are you doing 2 reps of? Pike pushups? They're all difficult and humbling, and the plateaus are unnerving, but keep at it and you'll break through!
@recyclebinladen59032 жыл бұрын
@@AntranikDotOrg Thank you! The 2 reps are the elevated ring pike pushups as you've shown in the video. I can do 16x3 normal pushups (was barely able to do 2 when I started last year) 12x3 diamonds 5x3 pikes and now 2x1 ring pike pushups!

Quick follow up question. So on my 3rd or 4th rep I felt like i had a banana back going on. Maybe i forgot to actively tighten up my core for that rep, i am not sure. But is there a remedy for this? Or is it time to bail out of the rep at this point? Thank you! You are the man!

Hi there! When you present comparison of bad and good form, when you do good form rep, you let your abs go and hips sag. I thought that we should keeps our abs engaged throughout the movement as it protects our lumbar spine and has better transferability towards handstands/HSPU?
@AntranikDotOrg2 жыл бұрын
It's normal for these to be some arching of the lower spine, it ain't going to be perfectly flat, ever. The lumbar spine naturally has an arch anyway. But yes, it should not be excessive.

Hi im struggling to get legs to rings when rings are at neck height got any tips?
@AntranikDotOrgАй бұрын
What's the problem? It could be a flexibility issue. Try it with the rings slightly lower.

Hey Antranik great video but I've really been struggling with Pike-pushups even after attempting to incorporate your advice. I can do 15 clean floor pushups using the form in your pushup video but even knee height Pike feels really difficult. Would it be advisable for me to try incline Pike to work on my form and strength? If so, would it be possible to give any advice for how to set up my body/bench for incline pikes?
@AntranikDotOrg Жыл бұрын
Incline pike? Like with hands elevated? That wouldn't be possible to mimic the pike/hspu trajectory with hands higher than feet. You say it feels "really difficult"... does that mean it's just difficult (that's normal) or is it impossible? Because make no question, pike pushups ARE really difficult and it will take time to get better at them. If you could do 2-4 reps of them, then you're at a point where you should keep at it and do as many sets as you can, performing quality reps with lots of rest between sets. If decline pike pushups are actually impossible, you could regress them by doing them with feet on the floor (like a downward dog position) as the easiest version and get really comfortable with them.
@JD-ee4df Жыл бұрын
@@AntranikDotOrg It feels practically impossible. But I will keep experimenting with how I'm setting up and then switch to feet on the floor if I can't get it right. Might possibly find a way to do overhead press until I'm strong enough. I really appreciate the reply Antranik, I think it's great that you still respond to videos from months or even years ago :) Thanks again!

@AntranikDotOrg2 жыл бұрын
You put your hands on the floor and put your foot in the ring one at a time. Not that hard.
