yes - I LOVE watching these two work together - what a delightful team! When Cathy tries to give everything to Shannon, I feel like it's Cathy's way of seeking permission to let the things go. Things she's been holding on to "just in case" or sentimental/family heirlooms, things she's "outgrown" or considered passing down to family members. Many parents/families hold on to "extra items" for those reasons: especially antiques, heirlooms, older (but still good quality) items that you've since replaced/upgraded, thinking that someone else might need them, and keeping "excess" on hand for family gatherings (like having 12 place settings, but only 2 people live there). How lucky that this mother/daughter get to discuss the items "in-the-moment" while they're working through the downsizing/decluttering process together!

I DO love watching your mom, I enjoy the stories and her natural ways, it’s comforting and friendly. I’m glad she gave the bird mite story, It was something I learned with an unfortunate situation too🫤 I am going through my clutter year by year bringing the levels down, bringing less in and living in a more relaxed environment, but I’m not a minimalist. I appreciate how your mom talks it out, she’s vocalizing what her reasoning is and that’s great!, I’ve found myself speaking aloud to myself when decluttering 😂 asking when I’m going to use it or what it is. I have been helping my mom here and there with decluttering, and while it's actually been overwhelming at times, I will never forget all of the time we've spent visiting and being a team together, even talking through precious or difficult memories. Hi! I have the same carved wooden "spork", I herited it from my godmother. It's a salad spoon, came in a set with a spoon that I still have. Theyre the only salad spoons I use! ☺️ Precious useful things are my favorite treasures, and I get to see them every day!

one of my best friends has that same antique Carving Fork with the bone/antler handle. The "floppy pointy part" between the fork and the handle, is so you can set the fork down without setting it on a plate/linens, etc. (like a built-in spoon rest, or tripod) It also acts as a guard so that you don't accidentally slice your hand if the knife slips (particularly when slicing a large roast horizontally)

I love that your Dad has the Eagles set 1977-1999. I'm IMPRESSED, he has excellent taste! It looked like a book but most likely is either a case holding 2-4 DVD's, possibly a documentary or CD's. I could be wrong but I just had to mention it. 😁

I wish I lived closer to my parents. so much stuff😒. I was able to fill the recycle bin with empty boxes the last time I visited(sadly there are many more), filled the garbage can and took home the China hutch and ten paper boxes full of miscellaneous. Progress. How do you get rid of things out of season? (i.e.Christmas in April). I'm sure you have mentioned it in a video somewhere🤔.Do you just keep a pile in the garage and take it to the thrift when in season? Sometimes, there is more to the logistics in decluttering than we realize. Thanks for sharing. I get inspired watching others declutter😊

I’m impressed by how you refrain from pressuring your mom to get rid of things that you likely think she should. This probably makes her more receptive to your help and willing to go through things again - looking for more things she doesn’t need. ( By the way, if your community has a hazardous waste depot or day, that’s where you could drop off the “antique” ammonia 😆)

I like the mint alcohol. It smells like a wintergreen mint candy. I mix it half and half with vinegar in a squirt bottle and use it to clean.

I love watching you and your Mom do these videos! It was so ironic five minutes before I watched this I put a candle snuffer in my Amazon cart. I’ve been searching all over for a candle snuffer just like the one your mom decluttered but have not been able to find that particular one. I wanted it because it’s the exact same as the one my Mom always had, she passed away several years ago and I can’t remember what happened to hers. We burn candles every night at the dinner table ❤ and I don’t want the wax spray from blowing them out .

Yes, it is a wonderful example of how this mindset works.
