I made this for Thanksgiving and it was a great success! I wondered about the butter- this ingredient is missing from the recipe in your website. I didn’t include it and the sponge was still very good.

Black Forest cake is my all time favorite cake that I can never get tired of. What would make it even better is almond liqueur or extract, even though it's not traditional to the recipe, I just love the combination of cherry and almond flavor together.

Actually you would need Schwarzwealder kirschwasser. Plus you need sour cherry and with the sauce you make a pudding
