So true. I go to an old school gym, we jokingly call it 'metroflex'. Also my coach usually roams around with a wooden stick, and zyaada timepass kiya toh dande padte hai (but it has helped me a lot to stay focused)

I have hardly gone to the gym for 1 month. But I can surely say that I have been able to build a good physique at home itself with very few equipment (chained pullup bar, a pair of dumbbells and running shoes. That's it) All I needed was discipline and consistency.
@adityasarawgi43072 жыл бұрын
I used to go to the best gym of my city and I did get results but I noticed that all competitors of my city used go to the oldest gym of my city and just to check I thought of going there for a month and I realised that, that was the best decision in my fitness journey because everyone there is focused on fitness they don't care want someone's wearing or doing after gym. And I don't know why but lifting iron instead of rubber weights is so more fun.

It would be so great if we combine modern facilities with old wisdom and make the best out of it. Gym and akhada both have great things to learn
@milk1lr2 жыл бұрын
No doubt...pushups and pull-ups both are great exercises....
@plotrecapped68192 жыл бұрын
Trust me, people who have worked out in aakhadas have stronger joints, tendons, and generally better mobility... Now before you come at me for the argument, here's how I concluded this. I've arm wrestled many guys who are really strong at gym lifts, but they doesn't have much to offer. Whereas Aakhada guys have that Brute strength, super-strong joints that help a lot in arm wrestling. Maybe this bias is just for armwrestling..
@WeRStupid2 жыл бұрын
Kind of yes but not exactly right
@theplmotivationofficial2 жыл бұрын
I also feel the same. Akhada focus more on compound movements. You do dand baithak also. So definitely you better use your body. However a person going to gym can also develop same strength provided h3 do his workout accordingly. Atm wrestling requures steong wrists, forearms and arms. A person having strong forrarms also have advantage. I am also good in arm wrestling and defeated many gym guys but i only do different types of pushups, pull ups and arm wrestle regularly with friends. Second, you train in akhada as per real life situations . You do rope climbing and many other different things. That also develop your willpower.
@plotrecapped68192 жыл бұрын
@@theplmotivationofficial yep, rope climbing is extremely helpful for arm wrestling..
@detachedloop10042 жыл бұрын
Akhadas attract hardcore people. Not everyone is willing to get covered in dirt. So there's that. It just attracts those kind of guys more. The same people if trained in modern gyms will give you just as hard time arm wrestling

It does not matter where you workout. Agreed 100%. I have been to both. But majorly desi gyms don’t have professional trainers. They will give wierd diets and often force to buy supplements. The trainers will be biased and train people they know. Overweight people are not allowed to touch weights and only asked to do cardio. When you go to an expnsive gym, they have a reputation to uphold for their business to sustain and they will be professional enough to give you a positive experience. Hard work and discipline remains the same in both places.

I go to a modern gym with all the amenities you can think of. and I feel best gym is the one which is close to your home. It doesn't mean that I haven't been to a desi akhada or old school gym, I had in the past. Old school and Modern may have different set of machines but it is on the people who are working out, they have to make the best out of it. I left gym in the past only on the basis of the space and location. I reject basement gym straight away cz of the air circulation and also reject gym which are small cz it can add to your waiting times during your workout thereby causing a lot of time loss. Better is to go for a gym which is spacious and is on ground floor and above. Edit: I have been into Calisthenics for 13 years now and mostly worked out in open areas like parks without any machine. It is just my workout which is based on bars which you can find in any park, if not then do pushups, hand stands etc.

My first gym which was kind of a desi gym has really thought me ethics and decipline, which in turn gave me a good shape, made me understand the movements, importance of different workouts. There was no Ego lifting. And from there I witnessed one best bodybuilder. And unfortunately that gym doesn't exit now in our town.
