Muscle Soreness, also called as DOMS or Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness, is that burning sort of a pain, which you feel in your muscles (remember, the last heavy leg day?), after a day or two, of your hard training schedule, especially when you have tried an unusually new exercise or worked out with a higher intensity. It’s also referred to as the ‘Sweet Pain’ in sports and gym workouts, and is like a reward to many for the work they have put in the previous workout.
But not many people are clear about the reasons behind DOMS, or what really works for its treatment. Most are under the age old myths floating around, using the local recommended treatment patterns, by the coaches and trainers, who themselves are equally oblivion about the real science of DOMS.

When I had zero knowledge about exercise, once I got soreness in my abs(lasted for 4 days). I thought it's a pain, then I went to doctor physician suggested me painkillers. Now I m shocked even doctors don't know about it.

hats off to your research and conclusion on this topic. I bet theres no information available on this particular topic and your explaination is very good. thanks. now i can go to gym everyday. i was really confused how many days i should take break from my workout due to muscle soreness and was afraid of interupting the recovery process of my sore muscle. now in my own experience i used to workout daily and had good muscle and strength gain and i also liked the muscle soreness. But Due to a Lot OF KZbin Experts Recommendations that going to gym only thrice a week is more benificial i followed it stupidly, i was really missing my daily workout. and now i can continue what i used to do. thanks to your reasearch based video information.

@sahil deswal you have to go for progressive overload and/or cause metabolic stress. Example if you were doing 6reps bicep curls at 20kg now do 12-15reps of 10kgs Or do drop sets or do slow reps (take 2-3 sec for the eccentric part of each rep with heavy weights) ... Keep changing the rep range, weight, exercises and methods form time to time (every month or two). All this combined with high intensity will always cause pain.

Doms is specifically happens due to new exercise bcz of new exercises demand different muscle fibers to activate.. Continuous same exercise give time to your brain to make a pattern to use specific muscle fibers.. but new exercise needs time to adapt to your brain.. and brain by instinc uses less unused fibers to make the performance.. new muscle fibers are not ready for that type of pressure.. thats why they break and eventually creat doms

My muscles get sore after every workout. Do soreness means more stimulus and leading to more gains? And when the soreness is gone does it means that the muscle is fully recovered.

no soreness doesnt mean more gains, it simply means a different stimulus be it harder workout or a new workout soreness is gone again doesnt mean, muscle is recovered, but u can use it as an indication

Apne bola haldi wala dudh is helpful in reduce muscle sourness and it also have anti inflammatory property , so that can we take it after workout or at night or at morning ?? And sir one more thing, agar pre work out stretching na kare only do warm up then is there any chance to develop muscle strain which lead to avulsion facture??

On one hand you are saying we shouldn't take antioxidants after workout because it reduces the inflammation and on the other hand you are saying turmeric is helpful in muscle soreness because it is anti-inflammatory. So my point is why we need turmeric?
