@rlasdjkawdl It is now, she's just trying to sound reasonable, rather than say reasonable things. It should be quite obvious why she's saying these things: she's a woman, and therefore has a conflict of interest in being a feminist She wants to be a victim because a victim without a crime is actually a good thing, and means you get people feeling sorry for you and paying you damagesShe wants to be oppressed because this lowers her standards and gives her an out for underpreforming.She wants to say that she is being discriminated against because this means that she "should" be getting more than she is currently getting. Any twerp with an ability to adopt positions for pure self interest and who just wants to get more money at their job will do what she's doing currently, and it's not surprising.

Insomnia322 I would say you're right, but then I think back to the feminist obsession with "White privilege". If that isn't race, then what is it based in? Then they're also obsessed with gender and sex (literally any video sperging out about the patriarchy).
@adammartin59316 жыл бұрын
That is actually a misconstruction of their arguments regarding "white privilege" and the issues that come with gender and sex. White privilege does not describe a race - it's a description of a long standing bias that has been created over decades and even centuries of socialization in countries that have a majority of white citizens. Much of the literature and thought of western society has grown from the work of peoples that herald from European ancestry. Since they tended to share that background as well as religion (Christianity), there was and still is a strong tendency to treat a white European male as the default standard to which things are ascribed. For example, many medical texts refer to the average "person" as a white male with a muscular build and of a particular height. This is despite the fact that half the population is literally not male, a sizable portion of males on Earth are not white / European, and a large component of the very people it is supposed to describe don't fit the mold created (large part of white males are short, overweight and far from the "maximum potential" of humanity). Much of the work of modern feminist thinking has been to impinge against this long held "norm" as it is anything but. There are far more variations within humanity than the "norm".

Paul Saiz Hyperbole, ad homin, strawmen. These words are supposed to help people call out toxic and/or unhelpful practises. If someone while hyperventilating proclaims that he is literally about to cross the line of no return which is murder, and you think some word invented a hundred years ago can prevent someone from expressing that. Then at the very least you are abusing that term.

My father is a preschool teacher. I'm a male training to be a nurse. Both professions are very very female dominated. Personally I don't care a whole lot, equality of outcome is never something I'd push for, but when the gender disparities are as huge as they are (male early childhood teachers make up less than 1% in my country) I think it's reasonable to assume there are some systemic or cultural/social factors detering men from entering certain professions. Don't mean to sound like a MRA or anything, I just disagree with that point that only women are told what they can and can't do career-wise.

When someone is using "facts over feels" on the internet and just calling you names, this isn't even intended to be an argument. This is the equivalent of hitting someone and laughing. Though it isn't really 'hitting' you're still basically just taunting and shit talking someone. It's an aggressive attack. It's best to see these people as the psychopaths that they are. Who just inflict pain on others for their own amusement and only find joy in the idea that you can do nothing about it.

Something I am confused about. When Winters talked about communion and agency, she noted that males tend to gain in communion over time such that their mean is very close to women in old age; and to my understanding she indicated a higher communion score is an indicator of someone who leans left politically. However, my sense is that the elderly tend to have a natural leaning towards conservatism. If both of these assumptions are true, how does she square that circle?
@drkmwinters7 жыл бұрын
Jacob Prescott The descriptive means change over time, but only but a few points. E.g. if a younger cohort's mean is 6 on a 0-15 point scale, the oldest cohort might be 9. It's enough of a change between generations to be measured but that doesn't mean that shift pushes men uniformly to the political left. There are much bigger influenced on vote choice such as party id. Hope that helps!
@JPrescottQ7 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think it does! If I understand you correctly, other factors outweigh communion in terms of political leanings. Might it even be true that a high communion score at an earlier age will have a statistically significant correlation with left political leanings, but a higher score among the elderly does not? i.e despite becoming more socially aware, voting for rightwing for decades prior to this shift creates an identity that overshadows their more recent social awareness?
@drkmwinters7 жыл бұрын
Jacob Prescott My research didn't examine effects over time. The first question was: are gendered measures diff from sex and can they explain outcomes. My measures don't explain a lot of variation but they explain more than man/woman.

This is really good! There was a lot of really good discussion about some things I never thought about before. I've always been a fan of Kristi's, and Destiny had a quote that I am going to be saving: "There are a lot of people on the left who think that you should never talk to these people. You don't need to platform these ideologies. You should never engage with these people. In the United States, liberal or left leaning views have been the predominant ones for the past decade and a half at least. If you are in a work place, you can't speak out against minorities and women. If you look at messages coming from Hollywood or pretty much all of the mainstream media, save Fox News or talk radio, left leaning ones are the only ones you can express without getting crucified for it. The problem is we all kind of bulshitted ourselves into believing if we just did that long enough, everybody eventually was on board. Then, when Drumpf rolled around, it was a big wake up call. It's like "Holy shit," half the country is still thinking a totally different thing, but we never engaged with it, we never knew it was there, and we kind of swept it under the rug and pretended it didn't exist and hoped it would go away."

Have you ever heard a trans person smugly say that you misgendered them, almost as if they were reveling in the fact that they can be offended? That is the scenario most people against the right to chose which pronoun you want to be referred as think about when the subject is brought up. I don't think most of them would have a problem with most trans, which only want to live their life as the gender they feel is right for them, but when you call someone that is dressed ambiguously and or mostly look female as a she and get riled on for misgendering when you did not have any bad intention, then it is reasonable to expect an averse reaction for them. Since you know so much about the human psyche, i think you can understand how just one instance of that happening can influence that person's way of thinking. Doesn't matter if they experienced it first hand or saw one of them (perpetual victim) in a sjw owned video.

After rereading it, i realize that it makes me sound intolerant but i don't personally do not hold that viewpoint since i realize the difference between the individual and the group and judge people not based on the group they belong to, but as an individual - or i try to as much as possible. Not that it takes anything away from the comment i made: i despise these kind of people.

Psychologist, here. They have done the Milgram Experiment multiple times but, as Destiny said, with the proper debriefing, and, every time they’ve repeated it, they get similar results. In a recent incarnation of it, they actually had it in a Skype call where the participant could actually see the actor acting out having a heart attack, and the results were still very similar.

It really triggers me when he complains about people holding viewpoints that can align with someone who has a bad viewpoint. The guilt by association thing with the racists is stupid as hell. It's not your responsibility to make sure the people who hold similar beliefs don't have bad intentions. If your ideology is well fleshed out, it doesn't matter who else supports it. This, I think, is one of destiny's biggest problems.

Yo Destiny, what's your take on pro-life/pro-choice? Sorry to ask a loaded question, but I got mates getting on my case about our access to birth control and when exactly a woman's right to her own body is revoked after conception. I think I remember you mentioning being pretty strong on the pro-life end, unless I'm mistakened. Kind of surprises me, given your views in this above video.

It's the "Fistie" name that pisses me off. Sargon started that after she wiped his ass in a debate, because he's an adult pushing 40.

Chris Abbey: You cannot claim the higher moral ground, while delving into the same pig pen in the same sentence(Mother Deuce?) At least my nick for Fistie Splinters wasn't my own invention. Nor is it particularly deragotory either. Being a posterchild for hypocrisy in feminism, the actual name is cleverly descriptive in my opinion(Fistie for the "closed fist" logo in feminism, and the word "splinters" for a view on feminism that is fragmented on inspection. Also, wasn't it coined by Bearing? I do not listen to Sargon, unless he pops up as a topic of discussion in other channels, so I cannot claim to know if he said it first. Both psychopathy or sociopathy are colloquial terms that are meaningless in a professional setting, so I cannot really address your speculation, since I cannot be sure to what defintion you differentiate the words. To me(personal definition), sociopathy is a measure of degree of the defining traits of antisocial disorder, and psychopathy is whenever this antisocial behaviour devolves into being harmful to self or others. I.e: "You are showing sociopathic traits, and you are acting like a psychopath right now" To me, she's better known as Fistie Splinters, as I usually come over her work whenever mocked by anti-feminists. Since anti-feminists have a much larger audience on the internet, the statement "she is better known to most as Fistie Splinters" is probably true. Its not the only definition you can use, but I just listened to her on this 2hour segment, and he had to clearly explain to the audience who she is. For the record, she came off just fine in discussion with Destiny, thou they were mostly just stroking eachother arguments and ego, and airing frustrations with the lack of academic vigor in the arguments from their ideological opponents(which I suppose is quite often true) So how is that for slutshaming your kneejerk reaction to "Fistie", Chris Abbey? If you ask me, the nickname is kinda cool. But thats my opinion. Even if you elect to understand the term for its sexual connotation its still fine. Thou I never thought of this before Bearing had to address that misconstrued interpretation.
@ChristyAbbey7 жыл бұрын
Fistie Splinters (which was made up by Bearing, and I mistakenly linked it to Sargon as he is the one who uses it most) was a wooden dildo. To say it's anything else is really reading too much of your own shit into it. I didn't claim the high ground, just goaded you into replying by using your own method. Note I didn't misuse Sargon or Bearning [Carl or Scott, if you prefer]. The nickname, used often with a dildo [one explanation is because she's not married, which I find a bit weird] is not cool. Bearing got thrown off twitter for a bit for it, and Sargon... is Sargon. People generally should be identified in the way they choose to be identified, at least their name. My argument was not kneejerk. I had it ready for the first person I saw calling my friend that. It hurts her, and hurts the argument. My daughter, Crystal, does not like being called "Chris". So she's not called that. (PS: I was using the colloquial socio-psychopath usage. You are absolutely correct in all point in that paragraph.)

47:35 This is why I've lost a great deal of faith in democracy, free speech, and the steady progress of society in the last few years. The unfortunate reality is that large parts of the population will always be latent fascists waiting to be activated by a propagandist and a big part of keeping them in line is fear and intimidation through social pressure.

At around 1:09:00 Destiny makes one of the best points he has ever made. About the "answer" being only a small part of the total picture. The thought process that leads to that answer is more important, in many ways, than the final answer.

10:50 It actually has a name. The law of diminishing returns. It's a common concern in activist circles. Then again, I'd argue that it's usually a problem more in liberal activist circles because their goal is often "equality" under capitalism. More politically radical progressives aren't concerned so much with "equality" as breaking down and replacing inherently oppressive systems. The nature of the goal makes the finish line much less fuzzy or gradual.

It doesn't really matter for the sake of the discussion, but when did passion become a masculine trade? passion is feminine, ambitious is masculine, right? Just like how caring/being tender is feminine, the manly variant would be something like defending, or providing in a material sense (English isn't my native language so I can't remember the word).

That's what bothers me with the term "rape culture", she admits right off the bat that the concept's name is ambiguous and then you two argue that people are disingenuous when trying to argue against it. I personally am 100% unwilling to have any discussion about rape culture. I'll absolutely discuss all the phenomena that are attributed to it individually but the umbrella term "rape culture" is very obviously confusing, politically loaded and fucking worthless.

You should probably watch contra's old video on that. In america, loads of drugs are illegal but it would be a lie to say that there isnt a "drug culture" here, even if it is small or in America, most people would say being a pedo is gross af but some models are pretty young yet are over sexualized as if its okay. There are people in america who STILL dont know that you cant consent when you are drunk out of your mind. There are people who think its okay to have sex with those drunk out of their mind people and at some point, tv shows(few now still do) and movies showed pretty RAPEY stuff with no one questioning it. That is rape culture, right? I see that it could be confusing but if a person is confused then they should do their job of looking into it rather than just looking at the term while not knowing what it means then hating it. Its just foolish.

The discussion around the 47:00 mark (it goes on for quite a bit before and after), I think you're both wrong. The situation is a lot more severe than that. Yes, there have always been right-wing nationalist types, but what we have seen happen, particularly in the past 5 years, is that people who used to be left-wing globalist types have now CHANGED and BECOME right-wing nationalist types. And on top of that it's actually become "cool" and "rebellious" to be right-wing if you are a teenager. I'm quite young, but I can tell you for certain that 10-20 years ago being right-wing was immensely uncool. You would get seen as overly religious, homophobic, probably a virgin, someone who doesn't like partying, boring, etc. This has changed DRAMATICALLY recently, now being right-wing means you're edgy, funny, rude, masculine, probably going to get in trouble at school (which I'm sorry, but generally girls will develop a crush on guys who are getting told off all the time). Also, on top of that we now have a situation where the majority of children are raised by parents who are feminist and support social justice, yet a lot of their sons are rejecting what their mothers want them to do. It was typically the other way around for my whole life. And also, right-wing people used to have to defend Christianity all the time, which meant they ALWAYS lost arguments. Now the tables have turned and left-wing people find themselves having to defend Islam more than anything. It's an absolute nightmare... It's a fictional religion, I think people should stop trying to defend it tbh, it doesn't help further left-wing and globalist causes (unless you are one of the extreme types who want as many muslims as possible so white people become a minority faster). I think it is correct that the mainstream media, entertainment, etc. has been mostly very left-wing, and I think the problem with that has meant that people legitimately haven't been ever introduced to arguments from the other side. An example is that people have been taught their entire life that abortion should be a woman's choice, that a foetus is just a 'bundle of cells". You spend you're entire life thinking that people against abortion are just horrible, oppressive people. And then one day Ben Shapiro comes along and says "All living things are technically just a bundle of cells" and "A foetus is a baby, it has a heartbeat, brain activity, it moves, etc." These arguments are BRAND NEW to a lot of people! Seriously.And they can be convincing. And then people start to doubt themselves. I think in hind-sight it would have been better to teach everybody the right-wing nationalist view of the world when they were children, along with the left-wing globalist view of the world. When people learn nothing but the left-wing globalist view of the world from when they are a small child, and suddenly at age 20 find out about gender differences, racial differences, it's going to turn their world upside down and have 10x the impact on them had they learnt it as a child and grew up always knowing there was a legitimate opposition to their beliefs. For a while people thought right-wing people were just crazy, stupid, bigoted, old-fashioned, etc. But now for the first time a lot of young people are now only starting to really meet right-wing people and they are being pleasantly surprised to find out a lot of them are funny, intelligent, good-looking, young, atheist, minorities, etc. And I have to state OBVIOUSLY everybody knew right-wing/nationalist types when they were young, but these types of people would generally keep it a secret (until recent years), because in the 90's or 00's you would generally get ridiculed if you were open about such beliefs, at least in most of the Western world.

About 25 minutes in, Destiny makes fun of Sargon for using a definition of feminism that referred to "cultural Marxism." I was surprised by Kristi's pretty restrained reaction in comparison to her surrounding comments, but I didn't know why she reacted that way until I saw her debate on feminism with Sargon, where _her_ definition and _her_ position was that feminism is a an academic theory that you use as a lens of analysis, like Marxist class analysis. Oops. Also, it doesn't sound like Kristi understands conservatives particularly well, which is always frustrating to listen to. It's totally useless to hear challenges to what some caricature of the worst of right-leaning excesses; I don't agree with that strawman either! [ETA: Kristi thinks there is a straight line between anti-Abolitionists, KKK members, and the Tea Party? I don't think she even understands the broad concept of a conservative, much less one in the Tea Party. And Destiny isn't doing great on this one either--does he really think conservatives should have to vote for Hillary because their candidate didn't win the primary (or didn't even make it that far) or else it's fair to say that they just "took off their hoods"? Seriously?]

16:00 I'm not sure about formal jargon in a political context, but what you're describing there is valuing ingenuousness. You would rather be dealing with genuine people than disingenuous people. And that's the line that needs to be drawn in the sand very often, because it determines if you have integrity in progressing your learning. Clearly, anti-feminists, racists, fascists, alt-right shitlords, authoritarians, and dogmatic people in general aren't willing to do that. Which is why I always encourage engaging most with the average, ignorant person who is at least genuine, because they can be swayed to understanding. The disingenuous can go fuck off until they learn to value...well, learning ffs.
