Diane Van Es, Maureen Koster and the Vally Running Team coached by Grete Koens are gearing up for a some road races in the coming months before beginning their indoor track seasons. We joined them for a threshold interval workout during their altitude training camp in Font Romeu.
The workout: 5 x 2km at Lactate Threshold with 2min recovery.

De coördinatie en bewegingssnelheid van Grete bij het uitleggen van de oefeningen, ongelooflijk! Kan de groep nog wat van leren :D Leuk filmpje om te zien hoe zo’n training gaat!

I didn’t have the coordination to play the drums in middle school and I don’t think I have the coordination for all those drills either 😂 good stuff guys

@@csalt5235 Yup me too, it's been about 10 years of me planning on warming up before a good run.

@@samuelbeasonjr.3308 I've heard different theories about warming up before a run. For one, static stretching is to be avoided and light movements should be okay. I generally do some body weight squats (25) before a run and it seems to warm everything up as it should (quads, calvs, achilles, etc.).

This is a similar warm up to what I’ve used for my camps over the past few years. Since most of my camps are high school kids, we use it for coordination training as well as to help prep/develop ankle proprioception, reactivity, and tendon tension before hard efforts. At this early of the morning, my guess is they are doing it to help wake up the neural system before the intervals in the cold.

Might be because the attitude they are at (I think ~1800m) doesn't lend itself to doing quality workouts.
