Phil Dunster, who plays Jamie Tartt, actually made that shot. They set the shot up so that he just vaguely kicked it toward the goal's general direction, with a closer ball being available to do a cut shot of the ball going in, and instead he nailed it.

Fun Fact: Liam's laugh is a reference to an earlier episode, where they don't want to hang around with him as his laugh is annoying, and is the first connecting line to us an an audience seeing extras in the background moving around for the first time (the first one being the cleaner in the same episode), showing the team is bigger than we thought, which creates a more organic environment for out protagonists to live in. Extras don't really appear in the show until Liam's laugh.

Even though it's not as overtly spectacular, this is perhaps my favorite episode. It demonstrates how all truths can have exceptions. Never interfere is rendered moot because Coach Beard is wholly unique. All this time you wonder about the backstory of Ted and Beard. He is sooo mysterious. Ted brought Beard with him because he is absolutely exceptional and wise beyond anyone else's comprehension. Higgins is right but only in the case of Beard, because among his many wisdoms Beard is an empath and is immediately aware that Higgins only has his best interest at heart. Nobody else would. There are sooo many extraordinary moments including the introductory scene with its mad melange of misunderstandings. It all culminates beautifully with, "So your mother is your cleaning lady?" Love this shit!

Oh, and how. I'm retired now, but my career was TV. Early '80s was when the "per inquest" spot was invented..instead of directly buying air time, the station got a cut of the profits from the product sales. Stations all ran the same ad, but the phone number was different at the end so that the company selling the thing knew who to pay (their operators had caller ID and recorded numbers of incoming calls). We really didn't make much money from them, but management figured a couple of bucks was better than nothing, so they were scheduled in places where we used to run Public Service Announcements. Those answering machine tapes, Ginsu knives, Slim Whitman records..over and over again every 20min on the overnight shift! 🤣

Love this show! Every time I watch this episode, all I can think about is how Rebecca picked up his jacket in the locker room, and yet he was wearing it in Doctor Sharon's office later on. Perhaps he came back and got it?

Not sure if you noticed Ted's outgoing message but it was from a product from the 80s back when we had landlines and the answering machines had tapes. You could buy a tape with "funny" outgoing messages/songs

I won't spoil but I will recommend if you haven't already recorded future reactions that you start off the next one with some guesses about how this might play out. Great episode. I feel so much for Ted, I’ve had panic attacks and anxiety and this is this closest representation of what having a panic attack can do to you. Nathan oh boy. This episode follows him through the rest of the whole series. Beard and Jane, they match each other’s weirdness.
