it seems like this type of behavior amongst very powerful and rich people is unfortunately not too uncommon… thank you for covering this topic dacob

Here we are, grown adults and we are being censored by mommy and daddy KZbin about which words we are or are not allowed to use. This is a very dark and sad era for America. Can we change the name to TotalitarianTube?

The Edwardians certainly had different attitudes than modern day English people. However, It may also be true that Fayed brought his Egyptian attitudes toward women with him.
@seabreeze4559Ай бұрын
no, we're still pretty much the same, actually as in Edwardian times. A love of technology and science and such.

I find the long marble corridors and artificial light give the Harrods store the air of an underground bunker despite being several stories high
@esterdrass4964Ай бұрын
I never shopped in there (except on the occasion to buy food that was different or facial cleansers on their bottom floor). It was indeed a tacky store and so was the owner. He had displayed a ring that he claimed was an engagement ring from his son to Diana in a case in the middle of some floor as a show piece. It was beyond tacky and tasteless and stupid. I think the truth is coming out all over the world about these people...people with money and power. The world is listening.

Thanks for this coverage. This is bigger news, of course in the UK.

I remember reading and being told that he always tried to apply for a British passport in the 90s onwards, but always got refused, even once he had acquired his royal connections. Never understood why. But clearly evidence of being dodgy. My father did some consultancy work for him in the 90s and remember he paid for my entire family to stay in the Park Lane Hilton Hotel (most expensive hotel in London at the time). He acted very flash. I'm all for 'me too' but I take it with a pinch of salt as he was rarely even there! When he bought Harrods, it caused raised eyebrows in London society that a 'foreigner' (as they perceived him to be) had bought 'Harrods'! When he wasn't a fashion enthusiast. He was blatantly buying up London properties to showcase his wealth

I find that the word culture in any context of “R” or “SA” is degrading and disrespectful, offensive and pure evil towards those who came forward with truth..ALLEGEDLY!!
@sams3015Ай бұрын
“Culture” in this context doesn’t mean arts & culture, it’s more referring to behaviours in a corporation…so it’s not really disrespectful given it’s clearly used in a different context & often used by advocates, courts etc in this way to describe toxic workplaces

Fenwicks closed down in London recently, MAJOR shop it was on par with Harrods.

This video is interesting; some ethnic/countries have a totally different perspective on the value and treatment of women...some of us in the US have first hand knowledge on this treatment, and that's all I am going to say about that.😮

This is another way that tourists are more harm than help, they are not invested in the health of land that they influence so greatly, they simply 'don't care'
@abdullak7023Ай бұрын
While I understand that the crowd at Harrods may not be everyone cup of tea, I think it’s absurd to call it tacky. There’s no department store in Europe that is designed in full marble, floor to ceiling, and caters that many dining and luxury options in one building. HOWEVER, this does not mean Fayyed is off the hook, the victims definitely must be heard and have justice!

Fayed clearly did not act alone...there were many people complicit in his actions inc allegations he paid off the police.

It’s a shame the rich people get away with all this.

This certainly puts the decision by successive British governments not to grant him a British passport in a new light. He played the victim of the 'Establishment.' However, the reluctance was fully justified

After listening to you since 2020, I believe you are a Chanel expert; here is a situation, I asked Chanel to find me a white medium classic flap; I was told it was found, but it could take up to 3 weeks to get to my boutique; when I asked why so long, I was told the bag had to go to Corporate and inspected before sending to my Chanel boutique. Question, does that sound normal? Rosey

There is no statute of limitations in Britain for SA. The problem is that after years it's difficult to prove beyond a reasonable doubt.

So SA, if it’s reported in England, has weird guidelines. Nowadays about 13% of rape cases are tried in a court of law, and not are lot are convicted. I can imagine how it went back then, when it was more hush hush. One woman, or two women saying they had been assaulted with no obvious signs of physical attack, such as bruises, are usually told it’s a “he said - she said” case and it cannot be tried because of a lack of evidence. Police nowadays encourage you to consent to a court order, if new evidence is found and someone has a better chance of winning in court that you do, you’re kept on file as an additional witness. Also two lone women against a tycoon? Not a snowflakes chance in hell would it go to court. They would have been told that outright by police, if they took the allegations seriously at the time, which I believe they did, or else these women wouldn’t be on file.

Perhaps Harrods should take greater influence from the Edwardian era given this was a period when trade unions were rapidly developing to advocate for workers rights. The Labour Party also emerged during this time.

Re skeletons in Edwardian era: there probably is but there probably was the same in that time period in Bergdorfs or KaDaWe and your local corner shop but the difference is how systematic it was under MF. I’m totally in favour of them returning to Edwardian era style, bring back some elegance to the store. Of course they could make it modern but that’s what we have Westfield for & honestly I find that style soulless

This was brilliant - I worked opposite Harrods for a long time, and it kinda got me into the luxury scene. I still like to catch a train into town and have a coffee there (the food section is still good). I feel like I need to find a new hangout spot now that I know what I know - loved your analysis and that you aren't letting the British off the hook - yes!!! They are so happy to slam Fayed - I think the BBC is doing this because they want to take people's attention away from the Huw Edwards scandal (mind you I believe the women and justice must be served for them too). One thing I love about these old English buildings is that they outlast all the human dramas. What secrets the walls must hold!!! 😆🙏
