@@ivanmaras2546what does "start speaking" mean? In my mind that means having conversations with natives, and I mean more than asking a basic question and getting a basic answer, and not asking them to speak slowly. Maybe you mean starting to have meaningful output instead of just consuming input, but even that in 3 weeks is borderline impossible for your average joe to whom this ad is targeted towards. To put it bluntly, the marketing is just not accurate to what you should realistically expect of language learning. I, after 6 months of Japanese and around 3 months of Polish cannot really form a cohesive output for either language. It is the definition of misleading and unethical imho.

it's good that the Jack family was included I'm glad they're getting more awareness. I live in Prince George and I am pretty sure that there's at least one serial killer in the northern BC area. there's just too many people that go missing, too many girls who are found like a month or never later, too many places and ways to hide.

It's been many years since I was that way, although I had visited the area many times as a youth. For many people, they just can't imagine how much bush and undeveloped area there is. Even being there, it's awe inspiring to realize there is still vast wilderness. It's also scary to realize how much space there is to hide as well.

I visited my girlfriend in Prince george. It's a 9 hour drive from vancouver, almost a thousand miles through undeveloped bushlands. The city is a hole. The way i had to put it in perspective, British Columbia is about 5 times the size of the UK with a population of only 5.5 million. Northern BC sketches me out, I stick to the Island.

It has nothing to do with you being a native American and if than only for the reason that if it happened on a tribe controlled area, the police often only has limited tools at hand. Other than that, it's the general protocol for almost ALL missing cases. The norm is that people do run away and get home or at least in contact later. It's a matter of limited resources, do you know how difficult and costly a missing person search actually is? And now imagine blowing your budget on cases that solve themselves within a couple of days. It is in the nature of the crime, that missing people's cases are very delicate.

As a group that has been "socially, economically, and politically marginalized", Indigenous women have been frequent targets for hatred and violence. Underlying factors such as poverty and homelessness contribute to their victimization, as do historical factors such as racism, sexism, and the legacy of imperialism. Indigenous people are at a disproportionate risk of experiencing violence, murder, or going missing and make up a significant portion of the missing and murdered cases.

The jack family is a perfect case of the MMIW phenomenon. I’m from the Blackfoot Indian confederacy that spans from Montana up into Canada. We have some of the highest missing persons rate of any people, yet they never see the news. Back in the day I couldn’t imagine the amount of cases that were overlooked and just disregarded due to the victims being indigenous. Please if any of you care enough look into the matter. My uncle Frankie Kipp has a documentary called Blackfeet boxing that touches on it also. Condolences to the family and I pray that some evidence does come with time. No family deserves to feel this type of pain.

As a young female boxer, I just wanna say that the work your uncle has done for his community (especially for the women and girls within it) by setting up his boxing gym is awesome! It’s awful that it exists because of such a painful and scary problem. However, its good to know there’s a safe space where these women and girls can learn/practice such an important life skill while also getting a great workout in and having fun! I’m definitely checking out the documentary now. 🥊❤️

Your thoughtful and respectful coverage of the Jack Family is so important. Due to the discovery of the unmarked graves at the Kamloops, BC residential school in 2020, the world now knows of the “sixties scoop” and why so many Canadians do not support the RCMP - they were literally assembled to commit genocide against Indigenous people. I was born and raised in BC, and think it’s imperative that the rest of Canada and the world understands the insidious erasure of Indigenous culture across this country.

There was another case where a guy attacked a couple, beat the guy up, tossed him out of the vehicle and he ran to the girls parents house and told them what happened after the perp drove off with his girlfriend. They had been a long term hogh school couple at the time, very sad.. The girl ended up dead, I think and the man was wearing a cowboy hat. I'm not 100% sure she got killed but I think so. He tried to shoot the kid but the gun jammed, so he pistol whipped him instead and that saved his life. I wonder at all if there could be any connection to that case or if there's others that attacked couples? It is just a very risky MO. .

I'm not surprised the RCMP took the Jack family off the missing persons list without confirming they were found. They did the same thing to Amber Tuccaro (the indigenous girl who hitchhiked and was abducted, and recoded a call with her alleged abductor) in 2010. The RCMP has a long and horrifying history of sweeping missing and murdered indigenous people under the rug (or maybe it would be more apt to say on starlight tours).

It's so prevalent the so called graves of Indians, that caused the burning of multiple churches over it, are non-existent and were never found, and everyone who burned the churches got off scot free, let alone the amount of immigrants and brown people being able to take infinite welfare no strings attached, yeah it's very prevalent

Regarding the first case, I used to park in the same lovers lane in high school at the general timeline when Cheryl and Andy were murdered. I hope their families find justice and peace. Her brother contacted me a few years ago after I commented on this case on a FB podcast page, he is still seeking answers which I hope genetic genealogy will provide.

Does anyone know if the 2nd woman in the case was named Crystal? I dated a dancer in Houston back in 1999, and she told me that a man followed her home after work and hogtied her while he just hung around the house. Really weird. This sounds a lot like her story. I think the name of the club she danced at was Centerfolds. That'd be so strange if this is the same guy. It definitely fits. I'm kinda lost in a haze of memory now.

Second story -Jack family - sounds like Richard Beasley case, one of several Craigslist Killers. Lured job-hungry men to his ranch, along with a young man he claimed was his nephew (but isn't), and killed them to collect their social security. The appearance matches up, especially the size of the unknown man the family left with. But that case happened in 2011 - 30 year time difference. Beasley would've been in his 20s when the family disappeared in 1980. Not impossible, but somewhat of a stretch. Few other cases have seemingly similar MOs. Hope this can be solved someday.

I thought of this case too. I don’t really think it was him, but it rang a bell. Beasley was from the US, not Canada, and while it isn’t unheard of to travel for work, I feel like he probably focused on soliciting from within the States. Who knows, though?:/

There really is a need for public transportation in rural areas. The cost is great, but the loss is so much greater. Most of missing and murdered were only trying to get from point a to point b, but without their own transportation they had to jeopardize their lives if they wanted or needed to be away from home. The Grayhound has discontinued service to many areas so this problem will get worse. Hopefully someone with great morals and a mind for business will found a non-profit to address this urgent need.

Every once in a while, when listening to stories of missing persons, I think about Michael Negrete's disappearance. I was a fan of a band his brother was in, and when they started picking up popularity, his brother used the platform to raise awareness to his case, which is a doozy if you care to look into it. Thanks for the video as always, but this case still haunts me.

Thank you for speaking about the Jack family disappearance, the lack of publicity/care for cases involving native people is harrowing. I have a theory of what happened to the Jack family and essentially I wonder if they were targeted by the man who picked up Ronnie at the bar because the man knew that Ronnie and Doreen were down on their luck and was also most likely aware how the police do not care about native people. As far as the two little boys being brought with was simply a mistake because Ronnie’s brother wouldn’t take the kids meaning that Ronnie or Doreen might not take the job because of this so the strange man quickly changes his story to include a daycare as part of the job offer. It might even explain why Ronnie told his mother to come looking for him, he might not have thought that the man was dangerous but in the back of his head he knew it was too good to be true.

Hindsight is 20/20, so I'm not judging the Jacks, but when the offer goes from: 1. "Only you and your wife can come." to 2. "Oh yeah I forgot we have a full-scale daycare for the kids, no problem." when you say you can't get a babysitter, something is definitely up.
