I finally got mine under control after years of suffering. My last flare up was so bad I almost passed out, was put on a strong antibiotic for 2 weeks, liquid diet, cleared it up. Since, I’ve modified my diet, I removed pretty much everything with seeds, hot spicy foods, added fiber, more water, less coffee, no alcohol!

I respectfully disagree about certain triggers that cause diverticulitis. Every one of my attacks, 5 in all, so far, was a result of something i ate. With each attack, i would recall what i ate over the last couple days. I'm not a dr but i know what happens with me. Just as medical staff dont know how or why diverticulitis happens, (from 1st stage to an infection/abcess) they dont know food is definitely a factor. When im very careful and aware of what i eat, i can go 6 months without an attack. Very good video, thank you

Thank you for posting this. I'm currently battling my second severe diverticulitis attack in less than a year, and it's by far my worst out of all of them. I was prescribed both Ciprofloxacin and Metronidazole for antibiotics and Indomethacin for pain, but I added Tylenol as well to help a bit more, and Latulose for a laxative since I'm so backed up. I have only had water snd a little broth in the past two days, so it's been hard because the antibiotics are causing nausea which just results in constant wreching with occasional vomit. I would never wish this on my worst enemy. I wish GI disorders weren't taboo to talk about. I have a redundent colon, so digesting my food is harder and I think it contributes to my diverticulitis flare ups.

Maybe digestive enzymes to help assimilate and break down foods? Try the FOD map diet. I have the opposite of your, I deal with diarrhea. This past Dec it came on me like a freight train. I had to go to urgent care Dec 30th. Had a colonoscopy in Feb. The doc removed three small polyps, says I have this disease and internal hemorrhoids. I get pain on the opposite side of where he said he sees my diverticuli. So I am going in for a final follow up to see what he says on how to handle all of this. In Jan, he told me to start the FOD map. I drink peppermint teas, tumeric teas, and was put on all those meds you were put on. I could not tolerate the meds for the cramps.

Yes, I was just about to pull out all of my hair out in frustration, but you have explained clearly the many contradictory specialists' recommendations out there. LOW FIBER when it is acute, then back to the healthy lifestyle. I have had pain now for months and a CT scan showed a diverticulum in the ULQ just where the pain is. But that is all the Dr. said. No advice or direction. It is confusing, scary and painful... Thank you.

I had to sit down and ask my doc all I needed to do etc. He got a little offended when I asked a specific question and I looked at him and said, hey, you're the specialist in the field and I need directions and I am sure I am not his only patient that needs clarity. I had to ask for poop samples and blood work to rule out anything serious. He did not mention taking those steps????

It was the nightmare of my life. I'm scared to even eat anything. I lost 10 lbs. When I went to the doctor's office. I wanted to lose weight but not where it would make me sick.

I was told I had a polip long time ago like 10 years ago and some fissures and possibly IBS. I was told not to eat bread and just be healthy plus fiber powders but is been so difficult and I don’t think that helped but today research why I get flare ups from foods so much and this came up and I never thought about this and I always think is just ibs but it seems to calm down whenever I eat bone broths and cooked vegetables only I also notice if I eat fat free and gluten free I don’t have any pain but it never cross my mind this is what I could have. That doctor mention a polip but not severe and that I mite been having ibs. Why doctor don’t give you more information and just leave it to you to wonder what to do and how to live. This video help me so much why I eat what eat now thank you and god help us all and bless you’ll ❤

From what I’ve studied, they’re not polyps. Polyps protrude out while diverticuli is the opposite of a polyp. They are pouches.

Indeed you are correct. It depends on the layer it is affecting. The third picture at 50s shows it well. I wouldn’t say they are opposite, but merely growths affecting different layers in the anatomy of the colon wall.

I had it for 3 yrs. with 3 attacks. I was always relieved from the pain when I empty. Then I make sure that I eat lots of fiber and not to allow any constipation. And drinking lots of water plus keeping active. If you eat healthy food with lots of fiber, you will minimize or prevent attacks. The attack happens slowly, so the minute you fail some pain, eat lots of fiber and liquid food and make sure to chow the food very well. This will ease the pressure in the colon and take the pain away

I'm in a hospital today, August 19th, 2024. I ended up in the er on Friday cause of low blood pressure and bleeding. They have me on a liquid diet, I'm guessing, having a colonoscopy again. I had one done 4 months ago, and they found diverticulosis and hemorrhoids but now I've been bleeding for a few weeks so I've been loosing a lot of blood. I'm new to all of this and the doctors know very little about this

Doc just diagnosed my mother with this. They said no carbs, fiber or sugar. This video says eat fiber 😂😂😂 They pretty much told her to fast for two weeks without saying "fast" They also didn't provide a diet. Told her to go to a gastrologist. Well that can take weeks to get an appointment, so what does she do now? If you are capable of diagnosis, you should be able to pull up information about a F-ing diet for someone. Also the mis-treatment of patients. Leaving an old woman in bed to piss herself. Then when you come in treat her like she's a burden act rude. This happened to the elderly lady next to my mother. I wasn't there, If I was I'd probably be arrested right now. I'm a military vet so I know about the sacrifice when it comes to aiding others. I acted with professionalism even when a know threat was relevant. So from one public servant to another - they need to learn how to tighten up their shit or be removed from this field. I think they feel untouchable so they freely act this way. It needs to stop now. Rant over...

If they don’t want to actually HELP people and not train just to wear the COAT the most part of attending to the illness is the connection between HUMNANS no judgement of agenda age or social status … Rudeness only aggravates the situation and feeds the EGO pump the chest as you close the curtain around the bed. Yes, that's not much of an answer really. I don't think that fibres are the answer. Find something that is not an irritant, doesn't cause gas formation in the bowels, doesn't increase the bulk and doesn't make your blood glucose go through the roof. Find something that the human species ate for a couple of million years.

So this was extremely helpful today! My sister is having an attack the first attack she had to go to the hospital that was released with antibiotic and diet. That was like 6 ,7 months ago . Now today she has woke up with cramping and not feeling good no fever still not feeling good. Definitely going to follow this diet the next few days. But can you tell me what she can take for pain. Over the counter just doesn't do the trick. Should she have a doctor just for situations to monitor her when she does have an attack and maybe get some pain medication when she does get an attack? I've told her I think she needs to have a doctor just to have a doctor for this disease. What do you recommend for pain relief for her? She is using heating pad rest fluids I just wish she wasn't in so much pain. Again your video was excellent very easy to understand just excellent thank you from a concerned sister
