Just tiled my friends condo. Leveler used in 2 bathroom, kitchen and laundry room. Like you said, not enough water. Mine flowed perfectly. No trowel or anything. I caulked some foam weather strips temporarily to the floor to use as dams to stop it from flowing too far. Worked great.

I agree it was to dry, you need it thin enough so it can self level without troweling it.

This video was very helpful. I usually do not comment. It was cringe watching the dust land all over the homeowner's sleeping area 4:26. I hired a handyman to install a wall furnace and he did the exact same thing. Never again. That was the faux pas I needed to see to learn how to DYI in my home.

It is our house and we had dust coverings on everything.

Not following the directions on the bag for what reason? Way to stiff when you poured it, it should flow by itself, I usually use a landscape type rake to move it around faster, definitely shouldnt be trowel grade. The mesh is a very good tip though for wood subfloor, drastic increase in strength preventing movement from cracking

What do you think about NXT LEVEL PLUS from Laticrete? you supposedly don't have to use the metal Lath underneath it. Had you researched that? If so, was it too costly?

So you don't have to cover your whole floor with the leveler?

Friend I’m trying to help with her DIY has plywood subfloors that were never covered (just painted and repainted over fifty years). Now there are soft spots and some popping noises. Is it likely just the plywood or more likely something underneath?
@knightlight6959 Жыл бұрын
It could be the nails holding the plywood down gettig loose on the joists, or it could be the ductwork flexing underweight if theyre held up against the joists.

leveling floors for 20 years never seen or heard of someone using a roller for the primer lol. Get a soft brissel broom my guy. Absolutely insane to do it with a roller!

Can I suggest not mixing that stuff indoors.. and especially not without dust collection.. and not in a bedroom near a bed and a crib?

Those buckets weigh about 75 lbs the chances of going from the outside upstairs with a heavy, full bucket of cement without spilling it are about zero. Cover the bed way easier

Not trying to hate but it's so stupid to put drywall in a bathroom. Maybe for the ceilings and above the back splash but near the floor? Don't do that. It's not 1980 anymore. Go buy hardiebacker.
@harpoon_bakery162 Жыл бұрын
is hardiebacker the brand or a type of wall material? thanks!

The Schluter shower system states that normal drywall is fine as a backer to their waterproof membrane, using All-Set to adhere it. That is the glory of their shower system. You can install a shower in an existing drywalled space.
@dg-vg9di10 ай бұрын
You would want to put aqua guard or red guard on the drywall. It’ll make a barrier to moisture. I used that purple board in my bathroom and painted it with aqua guard to protect it.
@jerryhuber113010 ай бұрын
Shower walls should be green board, cement board, GoBoard, Schluter shower system, or the absolute best, Wedi. If you ever do a steam shower, GoBoard is out, as it isn’t rated for steam showers or rooms. I’ve worked for The Tile Shop for over 9 years now, and I can say for sure that Wedi is the best option, though very expensive. A complete 3x5 linear drain shower system from them will run you about $1700, give or take depending on pricing in your area, but worth it to knock about 2 days off of a bathroom remodel. Install the shower system in the morning, go to lunch, come back and start tiling immediately.
