This is one of those shows I wish I could watch for the first time again. It's such a pleasure watching the two of you react to it. Watching these first season episodes makes me see the long term story arcs the writers had planned out right from the beginning. You can't help but appreciate all the seeds they planted and the unexpected twists they threw in as well. Love this show.

It's funny, I never thought about it until you guys mentioned it, but the drinking out on the street IS a little odd, but makes SOME sense when you realize that Kansas City, Missouri is one of the only cities in America where you CAN carry open alcohol on the street, and Jason Sudeikis grew up in Overland Park, Kansas, which is a suburb of KCMO (I realize it makes no sense in this context...but it is a thing Jason wouldn't find as odd as even other Americans). This is why there are SO many inside jokes about Kansas City in this series (more than just all the BBQ references lol). I grew up less than a mile from Sudeikis, and my friend's father was Jason's high school basketball coach and the actual inspiration for the character of Ted Lasso (though the character is also a huge part Jason himself). Ted Lasso is also indisputably the most Kansas City character of all time by the way. Everyone here is a little bit Ted...for better or worse lol. Great reaction as always. I can't wait to see the rest. This show only gets better as it goes along. I hope to God we get more of it someday. The world needs more Ted Lasso (and all the other characters!).

I had just assumed that they allowed that in the UK. LOL. I'm now going to assume that maybe the owner made an exception for Ted and Beard because that bar is clearly all about Richmond FC.

We had open containers allowed in Charleston, SC when I lived there. Yet they didn't have free pour for liquor. Weird. Hope it's stayed the same (free pour is allowed now). Made New Year's and St. Patrick's Day quite a lot of fun.

Loving you all responding to this, very interesting to get a proper football fans' reaction for sure. What's interesting is you think this is a series about an EPL team, but that's really secondary to everything else (while still revolving around an EPL team). One thing you'll find is that Sudekis used a lot of his own personal history in every episode including Ms. Scanlan (who really was his art teacher in middle school) and the trainers he wears in every episode (which are from his own collection).

The coach normally wouldn’t check with the owner for a benching in the US, but that’s because in the US coaches and general managers are different people in a lot of leagues. He would probably have discussed possibly benching Jamie ahead of time with the manager.

This episode is what solidified this show as excellent for me. The results of twists and turns aren’t unexpected, but how they GET there is different. The journey is the enjoyment. Ted’s wife could have easily been written as a self centered or mean person, but instead she is wonderful and really trying to make the relationship work. The failing relationship is made even made more difficult because both people genuinely want it to work.

I will say if a coach benched a player in American sports there are cases to check with the owner. Usually if the owner is too involved but its not unheard-of

@@DNReacts *Cough* Dallas Cowboys *Cough*
@dizzyjazz2129 ай бұрын
@@DNReacts most often this would happen in american football with a quarterback because the quarterback is generally so incorporated into the teams long term plans that it has to involve everyone to make that choice Also there are owners that treat their team like their own personal videogame and want to be the reason behind the winning. The former washington owner, the carolina panthers owner , and the dallas cowboys owner to name a few. Generally teams with less owner involvement are more successful but the ego of billionaires is a massive thing

@@dizzyjazz212even then that’s only a select few teams. Unless it’s a top 5 QB or a team like Dallas or Indy where the owners are over-involved, the GM is usually the one you’d check with, unless it’s a sham position like in Denver

TIME STAMP: 6:30 Maybe the lady should think about "duty" and "responsibility" instead of her "feelings." She is a mother with a boy to raise. Her son's childhood will be ruined if she gives priority to her "fee-fees."
@DNReacts7 ай бұрын
So do you think she should live a lie and both parents be unhappy while raising a child? Creating a toxic environment which could actually be detrimental to the child’s upbringing? I know this is a TV show but situations like this happen in real life and staying together for the kids rarely works out with all parties being happy.
@kansashoneybadger78997 ай бұрын
@@DNReacts Well, you know that this is a thorny issue and a lot depends on one's philosophy of life. I have handled 60 divorces as an attorney. I was involved in the initial stages and also much of the very, very long aftermath. Divorce is simply devastating to children. I have worked with many licensed clinical psychologists as they produced court ordered reports for the use of the Court in its final decision. They educated me. I respectfully disagree that "staying together for the kids" rarely works out. In fact, our grandparents' generation never thought in terms of "happiness." Many married couples ended up working/living together as co--parents but otherwise quietly living psychologically separate lives. Entire generations grew up successfully with two parents who were living together for the sake of the children. That is simply a fact. I would agree that if there is any kind of real violence (need police report here) or abandonment or day to day screaming matches, then, yes, something needs to be done. However that "something" should be a serious attempt at counseling, first. I would consider this to be a moral responsibility of both parents. You don't get to bring a child into the world then tear up that child's world because of your feelings. That is immoral. Adults manage feelings, they are not managed by them. Why do you think our grandparents had such long marriages? They thought "happiness" was for children at Christmas and duty and responsibility was for adults until the children were grown. This day and age the argument is stronger because of the control people have over whether or not they have children. Wow, I have always through that one of the most admirable British traits was the reverence given to fulfilling one's duty. I thought that was a British as you could get. I thought it was one of the reasons the British military was/is respected worldwide. It was why I respected QE2. Cheers, love your channel.
