Thee are two major ultra Orthodox Jewish sects in the USA. And both of them hold a view about the Messiah that is not mentioned here. The insular Satmar believe that Jewish rule over Israel actually delays the coming of the Messiah, that the Messiah can only come when the Jews are NOT in charge in Israel. The more worldly Lebovovitch, whom you can actually talk too, favor the state of Israel. Many of them thought that their leader and most loved rabbi while he was alive was the Messiah. So I asked one of the Rabbis if he belived that this was true. He gave me a very interesting answer. "In every time G-d sends us a man who has the potential to become the messiah. But he can not become the Messiah until the Jews are ready for him. So far, we have clearly not been."

Daniel prophesied that "Messiah shall be cut off, BUT NOT FOR HIMSELF." (Daniel 9:26). In other words, his death would be a vicarious death. If Yeshua is not the Moshiach, there will NOT be one. My brothers and sisters, Moshiach, must be a direct descendant of King David through Melech Shlomo. Yeshua fulfills this. Moshiach, must be born in Beit Lechem Micah 5:2...Yeshua fulfilled this. (How would this EVEN be possible now with the Palestinian occupation? Hashem would need to massively intervene). But the bigger point is this. When you examine the Torah observant life of Yeshua, and all the things he did, there is only one conclusion you can come to. There are those who hold the view that there are 2 Messiahs: Ben David and Ben Joseph, two personalities each fulfilling one role. What they fail to take into account is the possibility of ONE person fulfilling BOTH roles: Jesus who appears on earth first as Ben Joseph, the Suffering Servant whose sufferings were graphically and accurately described by Isaiah the prophet. After His resurrection He commanded the gospel to be preached throughout the world, and He's promised to return again, this time as Ben David, the conquering King who will defeat Israel's enemies, and restore the kingdom to His people the Jews, and thus usher in the messianic age. And that's why He bears the title, The Lion Of The Tribe Of Judah.

The messiah feels like paradise on earth. Working towards a better life. It's like a goal post. We are supposed to bring light to the world and make the physical plane heavenly. Not focus on the afterlife like other religions. I think it led us to hope and growth, ultimately resilience despite our struggles. According to the Jewish scriptures the messiah had to come before the second temple fell (Daniel 9). In fact in Daniel 9 God tells Daniel through the angel even the year the messiah will come and he says the purpose for the messiah is to “expiate sin.” It says it will be in year 32 or 33AD depending if you’re calculating prophetic years or modern years. Of course there are hundreds of places where the messiah is spoken of but Daniel 9 gives the whole story. Why he comes. What he will do and the date when he comes. Rejoice. The messiah has come!

In short.. the concept of Messiah is only adhered to by the orthodox Jews.. every other Jew is clueless about it, and it's indifferent to their lives. Before some of the Jews left the land after the temple was burnt down in 70 AD, they never had this story of Messiah coming to build the 3rd temple.. it came after. And even if they built it somehow and it gets destroyed again, they would have seemingly created a new story that the Messiah will be come and build the 4th temple. This is how stories and legends form throughout history of human civilizations.

My friend is an Orthodox Jew, fairly intelligent and extremely knowledgable regarding the Scriptures. I am a Christian - of the Protestant tradition. We've had some fascinating conversations which I've throrougly enjoyed and through which I've learned a lot. I realize there are historical justifications for Jews to see (some) Christians as the bad guys - and I realize there are historical justifications for seeing (some) Jews as evil greedy manipulators of economies and world events. That does not make me Torquemada, nor her a Rothschild or the next George Soros. That having been said, when she tells me the reasons Jesus can't be the Messiah my response (which I kept to myself so as not to offend) is "that's preposterous" - Basically, what she is taught by the Rabbis is that an omnipotent G-d can't do all those things we believe He did, and the Messiah isn't what we think the Messiah is supposed to be. I understand the concept of the Trinity can be difficult to fully understand, and virtually impossible to explain to a skeptic. Yet, it's easy enough to understand that the same being (me, for instance) can have different natures and still be the same wonderful guy (like me, for instance). To my parents, I'm the son that doesn't give them any trouble. To my children, I'm the cool dad. To my supervisors, I'm the far-too-outspoken underling. To my subordinants, I'm the inspirational leader (well, I hope so anyway.) To the people I've put in jail ..... well, I'll leave that to your imagination. In all these cases, though, I'm still the same wonderful me. (Maybe not a perfect analogy, but then again I think it's pretty good.) Then there's the "that's not what that passage means" argument. That's a convenient one. So that's when I realized why so many Jews reject Jesus as the Messiah. It's because the Rabbis see Christianity as "competition" rather than "companion" - they want to ensure they don't lose any of their flock to the enemy. In short, they want to keep their jobs. Therefore, they say whatever it takes to ensure Jesus isn't seen as the fulfillment of the Scriptures, whether it is about Christ himself or the nature of what the Messiah is supposed to be.

I think your inability to understand why Judaism disagrees says more about you than Judaism. The two religions are very very different. There are many things we understand differently. Oh and to say we believe this because of the “rabbis” is a convenient exscuse The Torah is G-ds message to mankind. It’s imperative that we take it extremely seriously and understand what the message is. It’s no convenient that we understand it differently it’s what we genuinely belive is the message of G-d. To put it this way; much of the way you understand the Old Testament is influenced by you believing the New Testament. Is makes you biased. The rabbis and the Talmud is so thing I think Christians also don’t understand the system it works through. The fact that j said believe the rabbis but then wanted to change something makes zero sense. The oral Torah (the Talmud and the practical law) is a system of understanding the Torah. Nothing is without a source. There is no random preaching in Jewish literature where someone says don’t believe this and this and this is the law and fact. It’s not how it works

Well said! ... except for one minor detail. Trinity wasn't invented by the council of Nicea, but was voted on during the meeting. Anthanisus, a young deacon in the Alexandrian church, and his co-religionists insisted on a paradoxical understanding of Christ as divine yet human. The vast majority of the 200 or 250 bishops present at the Council of Nicea sided with the view of Athanasius against Arius, which was eventually to become the view of Christianity at large (although the debates continued for decades even after the council).

Lol it actully isn’t- it never states that it specifically refers to the messiah - that is clearly talked about in other places. It is clear it refers to messianic times. YOU shouldn’t ignore that you start reading that prophecy without the first sentence. You shouldn’t ignore that if that was referring to the messiah a it outright contradicts ideas from the Torah.

@@esthersteier6840 I see what you mean. However, we must understand that prophetic messages and spiritual things may sometimes not be clear cut if HaShem doesn't reveal it to us. One example is that we were commanded not to make any images of things in heaven and on earth...but G-d told Moshe Rabeinu to make the ark(with the images of the cherubim above it). G-d also told Moshe to make the bronze serpent( nehushtan) to save those bitten by snakes in the wilderness during one of the episode of disobedience/rebellion against HaShem. Does this mean that El Elyon contradicts Himself? ABSOLUTELY NOT. We are not robots and life is not static. 'Special' situations sometimes require 'special' solutions/instructions as we are led by G-d. Above all, the written scripture takes the centre stage, that's for sure and Yeshua never came banished any scripture but fulfilled them all thereby opening a new era for mankind to worship and walk closely with the same G-d of Avram avinu. Adonai Eloheinu, Adonai echad. An example would be that while we wouldn't allow a 5 year old to remotely attempt to turn on the car ignition, we would insist that the same child ought to be driving by 18years. What changed - time/season of life/ maturity. Mankind has had seasons. We have clear narrations describing the events before his arrival, also where He will come from, narrations about His appearance & characteristics etc so we can recognise him .. christians are also waiting for the return of Jesus as their Messiah and as Muslims it is our belief that Jesus will come alongside Imam Mahdi (PBUH) and their 313 companions ... But since Jews and everyone else are just not able to follow oral law because it’s perfect from God that would be a biblical Jew but it’s nearly impossible to follow the biblical law. So rabbis made a different version of the religion after Jesus came because they saw most Jews the smart Jews actually came to realize that Jesus is the messiah promised by Isaiah, Jeremiah, King David, Malachi…. And more so the rabbis seeing this couldn’t take it because of their pride for their rabbinical power so they decided to make a new written law to “revive” Judaism but in reality they’ve destroyed it and it’s sad because the Judaism from now is completely different and it’s a man made twisted version that’s not from God.
