So my father gave me some good ideas behind the shower debate. He told me that Showering at night is more Blue Collar vs morning being a more White Collar thing. If you have been working in the shop all day working on cars, wood, etc; you're gonna want to shower at night to get all the dirt/grim/oil/greese/saw dust off. If you wear a suit and tie when you go into work, you should take a shower in the morning to assist in shaving and smelling better throughout your work day. Just some... shower thoughts.

As a night showerer myself, a major point in favor of night showers that you didn't mention is time. I happen to have a fairly long shower routine (curly hair and shaving means longer times). If I shower in the morning, it feels like I'm on a time crunch because I have other things I need to go do after, plus I would have to get up significantly earlier to ensure I have time to do it before I go. Showering at night, on the other hand, is quite relaxing: I can take my time and don't have to worry about going anywhere or doing anything after. Showering at night is also often more appealing to women who have more complex beauty routines (skincare, haircare, etc.) for this exact reason (also helps to get any makeup off at the end of the day). Showering at night also gives my hair plenty of time to air dry, while morning showers would mean I'd have to blow dry it or have wet hair for half the day.

I have long hair, but I mostly shower in the morning or during the day (so, 3rd option here, maybe?). But I normally get up, take a walk with my dog, do some excercise (at least, lately I did more often than not), so showering in the morning washed all the sweat off etc. Also, I'd rather head into office freshly showered etc. As a child, I did mostly shower before heading to bed. That changed, when I went to the US for a year and my hostmother was showering in the morning. I just kinda picked up the habit. And it kind sticked with me. But, also, if I don't feel like showering in the morning (because, working from home or weekend) and I didn't excercise, so not sweaty, I might wait until midday to shower or early afternoon. Like, it's hot currently were I live and showering, using colder water, is just sooo refreshing and can give me a much needed boost later in the day. But the same would wake me up too much at night.

I started showering at night just because it worked much better with our household schedule. After a while (and understanding that, yeah, it washes off allergens, keeps the bed and pillow cleaner, etc.), I began to REALLY enjoy the fact that I get up in the morning, wash my face & brush my teeth, and I’m ready to go. It makes my mornings SO much happier!

I’m the opposite my schedule means that mornings are the best time for me to shower because night time really doesn’t work with my schedule(partly because my brothers(13 and 10) hate taking showers so at night my parents are having an argument with them over they have to take a shower 😅) Edit: I do have really bad anxiety + I rethink all social interactions I had throughout the day I tend to be awake in bed for at least an hour with anxiety before I go to sleep. I started sleeping with stuffed animals because it kinda helps(I’m going into my junior year of high school). In your experience does showering at night make it easier to go to bed?

It also means I shower in peace because my child is in bed and means less stress for me!

Showering too much can damage your hair and skin, you’ll end up drying out your skin and same with your hair. Your body has natural oils it needs. If you wash twice a day then your body and hair doesn’t have an opportunity to take in those oils. So technically you’re harming your hair and body by doing that.

As a tropical nation, it is actually very common to shower at both day and night (or at least thats how it is here in malaysia). You actually get the best of both worlds. Showering with cold shower during the day right after you wake up is super refreshing. It gets your brain moving, and overall freshes you up very well for the day both physically and mentally. Being a tropical nation, its common to sweat so a lot of people also shower at night. The time people shower at night varies from dusk to a bit late at night around an hour or two before going to sleep. Night showers can help you wind down and relax after a long day. This works very well if you exercise or workout during the evening as you can clean yourself up for a clean night/sleep. I highly recommed showering at both day and night 👍

Another benefit of showering at night (for people in dry climates) is using body lotion after the shower! If I shower in the morning then I have to skip the body lotion because it makes it so time consuming and annoying to put on anything form fitting (skinny jeans, leggings, tights, fitted long sleeve shirts, etc.). Not an issue at all if I shower at night. My skin is always way softer and healthier if I routinely shower at night. Plus it just makes me sleep so much better. 😊

I'm actually super happy that someone brought up Rosacea! I had it REALLY bad about 5-6 years ago, to the point where even full-coverage makeup wouldn't hide the bumpy/tough skin. It can be agitated by certain foods (e.g. sodas, chocolate, fried foods), but in my experience it can also be caused by stress. I finally got put on the proper mental health medications in late 2018, and within six months my rosacea went away. Now I'm not sure if there's also a correlation that the medicine I was prescriped helped treat whatever actually causes rosacea or what, but I haven't dealt with that pesky condition since!

For the people struggling to swallow pills, this is something I struggled with and one thing that really helped me was to put the pill under my tongue and then swallow a bunch of water. Goes down way easier, hope this helps someone :)

A way i learned to swallow pills (i learned later too due to struggling with it) was to chew some bread, and just before i swallow the bread, slip the pill in and swallow everything all together- I would do this with a small piece of bread, like a bit less than a bite, and followed with drinking water. It helped train me to swallow pills-

Personally, I live in a REALLY tropical country and (as Dr. Mike and many others) I sweat a lot, so I tend to do both! Because I find showering twice a day with COLD water super refreshing. (which I do almost all year round, because we don't really have a "winter" season here, just either hot or rainy days). But, at the same time, when I traveled to London a few years ago I showered once at night with warm water, because of the cold (even after a full day of constant walking). So yeah, weather is a big factor there.

His answer to the daily migraine question was SPOT ON. I have had daily migraines since 2021, which my doctor in my previous state ignored because they "aren't isolated to a single side of your head", so they "couldn't be migraines". Got a new doctor, he immediately said they were migraines and referred me to a neurologist. Went to the neurologist, he put me on an antidepressant (Amitriptyline - non SSRI), which he said, in his words, "studies have shown it doesn't work for depression very much, but great for migraine prevention." It's been only a couple of weeks and I've seen about a 50% reduction in frequency and intensity. The only drawback of this medication for me is that I can't really miss a day, at least not until I'm migraine free for a couple of months. And its other side effects have also helped me with my chronic anxiety and sleep problems.

@@sophienachbaur6516 I respect the argument that it MIGHT not be good for your skin (very subjective and it depends on a lot of factors), but nobody will convince me that they’re too busy to take two 5-minute showers a day. With regards to swallowing pills. I used to have a hard time with them and they would catch in my throat. I overcame this by using the following steps: 1: Take a massive breath in and fill your lungs. 2: Place the tablets towards the rear of your tongue. 3: Swallow a big gulp of water. I find that this opens the throat a lot more and gives the tablets a better chance of going through unimpeded. This took me a long time to work out, but it works every time for me. Try it, I hope it helps.

I've had issues too. For me it was all about feeling it. What I did was get yogurt, stick the pill inside (not open it), cover it so I wouldn't see it or feel it, then swallow. Eventually, I moved to V8 because of the thicker texture. Then I moved on to water. Even to this day, I take a big mouthful of water, hold it in my mouth, put the pill in so the water and tongue cushions it, and the continue drinking water, getting it down in a big gulp. Hope this may help!

1:03 the human muscle is, if I’m not mistaken, only attached on one end to the hyoid. And look at any mollusk they move without bones. I’m not saying the motion could be complex or useful but a deboned human (assuming they didn’t immediately die from everything) could still contract, wait for the muscle to relax, and contract again resulting in some useless writing. Not to mention, ignoring the fact it’d be crushed, the heart could still pump.
