My dad was an alcoholic who had a hard time showing affection but he loved our dog so much, because she didn’t call him out or yell at him, just cuddled him and kissed him. But it wasn’t that he loved the dog more than me, it was that the dog to him the only one who gave love unconditionally no matter what. Something, due to all his screwups, was not used too

I do not like dogs at all. I find them to be obnoxious needy animals that have to be trained extensively to be suitable to be in society and have to be given an assortment of meds and shots to not spread diseases or have immense health issues. I don't like their food obsessed nature, invasive demeanors and general set of traits and I don't think they're suitable pets for the vast majority who own them--- they are for some, who have the know how on how to train them and the space, but not for your average working city dweller. Now, I don't mind that other people like dogs or own them responsibly, but yes we've gone way too far and it's become a sickness. Certain breeds as well should be outright banned like pit bulls and anything aggressive and dangerous by demeanor that require extensive training that most people are incapable of. Additionally, the amount of dog waste from an excessive amount of dogs in existence to feed this dog culture we have is an environmental problem by matter of fact. Nothing I just stated should be offensive to anyone, but the dog lovers would find it offensive--- all the while feeling it's fine to bash my preferred form of pet-- the cat. Double standards. But this is to be expected for people who want a needy, wholly dependent animal that acts super excited to see you(truly excited just for food of course and potential for food reward)to feel the acceptance they don't get from other humans.

I agree 100% about dogs. Not really a cat person either, but they aren't anywhere near as bad as what dogs have evolved into. Dog waste pollution is a HUGE problem I don't see being addressed. They're allowed to leave their wastes pretty much wherever, but then at the same time it's basic common sense why humans can't do the same thing. We collect and treat our waste, we don't just relieve ourselves wherever we want outside. (unless you're homeless in San Francisco) It's very easy to understand this problem when one views it like that. This literal crap doesn't need to be draining into our runoff waters and contaminating walking trails, sidewalks, parking lots and residential areas. This is elementary common sense stuff that we should have learned a long time ago.

I lived in Berkeley where the City Council voted to spend 50k to put in a dog run in a local park. They screwed up the sprinkler system for the entire park, had to tear up the dog park and redo it. 357 thousand dollars later it was done. Then they did 3 more parks with similar results.

It's not just food, it's doctors, medication, love, parental energy, money and time. I live in Alicante, most people here live in small flats and many have dogs. The streets are cleaned twice a week with a huge amount of water and chemical products. What’s wrong with vegan dog carers? If their dog is healthy (which some vegan dogs are), the dog can sometimes live for 18-25 years, if they are fed a healthy vegan diet. Animals need nutrients, not ingredients. Dogs need protein and other nutrients from meat, not the meat itself. If they can get all the nutrition they need from other sources, they can be fine on a well-researched and well-planned vegan diet. At least the vegan dog carers have the compassion for the other animals and also for dogs, if they adopt them from a rescue/shelter, as many vegans would do. They could have saved that dog’s life! Vegans (including those with dogs) can be very kind-hearted, compassionate and lovely people. Free virtual hug. I have two ESA chickens a Cross beaked Americana and a Sultan. I don't push my birds in the stroller but I make their food up special for them they have their own toys including two xylophones and two toy guitars on stands. They have moving toy butterfly. They have a spot in the front passenger side where they ride shotgun. They have a playpen. They are better trained than most people's 5 year olds. They have playtime's. And they sleep with me at night. Izzy the cross beak gets beak dremeling every few weeks and Sophia the sultan gets pedicures. I've had dogs, cats, fish, turtles, snakes, a ferret, and two goats, and a couple cockatiels, and a conure parrot but I love my two chickens the best.

I am a dog lover but I also don't like being jumped on by other people's dogs. I go to one of my local parks that says to leash your dog, all the owners have their dogs unleashed and let them poop all over the trails. A few times I was walking on the trails and a dog owner's 4 large unleashed dogs come charging at me, barking. I look away and move aside. The owner had the audacity to say "She doesn't want to say hi." Other owners say similar unkind things to me when I am avoiding their large boisterous unleashed dogs. So yes, dog owners are the worst. Poor dogs!
