In this Video I'm going to complete all of the work with metal on a totaled Rolls Royce Ghost. I'll use the Spotter tool to fine tune the imperfections on the door skin and the fender, and totally rework the quarter panel skin back to almost factory shape. I will explain the entire process along the way, so even a complete novice could easily follow along and understand the process.
If you are interested in building your very own Spotter took, here is a link to detailed How To video:

That was really interesting how you fixed that big dent without even touching it (when you corrected the leading edge of the quarter panel). One thing I've done in the past when using a spirit level (or other straight edge) to locate low spots, is to mark the low spots with a pencil, so I end up with a series of horizontal lines showing where the "dent" is. This video must have been really interesting, because it was over before I could blink. Looking forward to seeing more progress as the Ghost returns to pristine condition.

Don't you just love it when you work on one part of the car and the other part just fixes itself in the process ? 😂 I made this video a bit shorter, I know a lot of folks don't have the patience to sit through a much longer video, so I'm just experimenting here with the video durations just to see what works better and what doesn't

Were you able to improve the area where someone previously had 3/16” thick filler? Also - I like the smaller puller you used on the fender and the puller that works on variable depth dents.
@fix206
@fix206 3 жыл бұрын
I for sure was able to improve that area under the body filler a bit more to make it flow little better with all of the other metal that I had to straighten back out. Smaller puller attachment works good when you're trying to keep the repair area small, other attachments with the bigger footprint will actually raise a larger area so they are really handy whenever I'm working on larger dents

That puller attachment it's something that I ordered from Russia. I got it couple of years ago and not sure if I can even order it still. Plus the website that I got it from is 100% in Russian so it would be a bit difficult for a non-Russian speaker to navigate through it. So I guess the next best thing to use is some thing that Arthur Tussik is using with his spotter setup, and I included the link to that type of a puller in my spotter video description

Brian Corrigan Thanks Brian. I have the accessory kit. And built the spotter. I was referring to the hand held squeeze ratchet puller with the round base used to pull out the small imperfections. I had ask Arthur Tussic about his several months ago, which is a little different than this one. ( the one that fix206 just posted for me) Arthur gave me the same link but it was shipped to Europe only. Actually if I had a choice I like fix 206 better. Unfortunately I can not purchase either . I even looked on Russian website and could not find it there either. Bummer lol. Maybe I can make one some how out of a paint calk gun?

Is it possible to use spot welding machines on aluminum car doors?
@fix206
@fix206 2 жыл бұрын
Aluminum process it's quite a bit different. I have seen an aluminum spotter online a while back. I think the way it works, instead of using transformers it uses large capacitors to deliver very high amperage to make the aluminum tabs stick. But I know for a fact that my set up will not work with aluminum.

Hello sir you have inspired me to do my own work Question I have a 2011 Cadillac Escalade I like to conversion it to a 2015 front cowl will it line up and do I have to get a radiator support
@fix206
@fix206 3 жыл бұрын
If I were you, I would start with fenders first by checking to see how well the contour of the fender lines up to the front door. In my opinion dealing with the radiator support down the road would be an easier task then trying to fix a poor fit between the fender and the door. Also you may want to search around online to see if this conversion had already been done. If someone had already done it, chances are they can answer your questions much better than I can :-)

Where did you learn to do body/frame/metalwork?
@fix206
@fix206 3 жыл бұрын
I've been doing this for a long time. Even worked at a couple of body shops when I was younger and basically learned everything that I know on the job. Plus I still learn constantly from many different KZbin channels that I watch all the time. Like framework for example, that was one thing I was always afraid of doing because I did not know a whole lot about it. There is one Russian channel that I subscribe to where the guy is a really good with the frame repairs, I have watched hundreds of his videos and learned a ton from him. And I've heard him mention many times that he also watches a lot of other channels on frame repair and learns more and more from them. Learning is one thing that never stops !!

I actually built mine from scratch, I made a pretty detailed video about how I did it. I am currently working on some things that I will be selling in the near future. One of the things is an upgraded electronic controll unit that runs all of the functions of the spotter, but it is a lot more advanced and user-friendly then the one that I did in the video. I will also have the hand held puller for sale as well. Should have that stuff available in a month or two... But here is a link to that video kzbin.info/www/bejne/oGe4mKd5g5qpsLc
