My Uncle raised chickens, one year he was having trouble making ends meet so in the winter he mixed saw dust into the chicken feed to stretch how log it could last. Well in the spring time when those chickens eggs hatched, three of the baby chicks had wooden legs and one of them was a wood pecker.

Al, My Wife and I very much missed your morning greeting to your modern homesteading crowd. We have been watching your channel for years now and it has become a part of our routine to watch your new download in the morning. We can always count on Al to wish us a good morning. We miss you all on Sundays and Wednesdays when your family doesn't post new vlogs. It's just not the same without your morning greeting.

Everything is going so well on the green house...won't be long til the plastic goes on. Hope you have a calm day that day or you might have to call in some extra hands.Did the manufacturer give any tips for installing the plastic? If not, you might check out Deep South Homestead's video when Danny and Wanda put on their plastic. Glad your chickens went back to lay their eggs, good girls....now papa will let you out to play again in the fields. Have a Blessed day.

@ Brian Robbins , The rye is good but I think that I would use the short white clover. That way you don't have to mow it. Yes , once the plastic is on there will be lots of rain water coming off of it.

Al, you mentioned using Goo Gone to get the sticky off the rails - you might also try rubber cement thinner. It is cleaner to use with no residue. Store the tin tightly in a plastic bag because it tends to evaporate. I never heard how the syrup harvest went. How much did you end up with. It feels so optimist to follow spring on the stead in these tough times.

Good morning Al, Gina and Olivia. It was nice to see Olivia keeping up with her milking skills. I'm fascinated with the greenhouse build. I have heard of "Pig Plowing" before. Maybe, after the pigs are in for the night, throw a can of worms into the pen so that the pigs can root them out in the morning. I think the boys can tell that Hope is in season and they are trying to decide which of them will be a new father. Stay safe and healthy. Oh, just remembered, how much sap/syrup did you get this year? Have a good day and a great tomorrow.

Having used strings to check grade for close to 40 years... You cannot pull a string tight enough to eliminate sag. Gravity is the reason.. Using a laser for perfectly straight horizontal line would be better.. Or a level used for setting grades in construction.. If you don't believe ..pull the string as tight as possible. Then sight down the string.. You'll see the sag... Also. Never let your string get wet. It adds weight.. (more sag)

Nice if you have the money. But if not you do things anyway you can. Have used both for years. And have no problem with a string level. It will get you close. Also the shorter the distance the more accurate.

@@crazyboy-gz3jm@jim, as long as you hang the level in the middle of string, you're all good for checking grade (although you're too low, but that can be fixed with a string half the length)

Great vlogs Al. Get some lock nuts for the greenhouse, this way you dont have to worry about nuts becoming loosened. Wishing you all well.
