The first food on the list should be the word of God. The Bible said in Proverbs 4:22 For they are life to those who find them, healing and health to all their flesh.

That's true, even I when not feeling well just pray and for some reasons i get well without taking medicines. At 68 no maintenance, i just listen to my body, it sends distress call when you eat something that it doesn't like. Make a journal of what foods you eat in a day and how you feel waking up, if you feel pain avoid those foods.

Caffeine is not good for us, it depletes electrolytes, vitamins and minerals and simply blocks the neurotransmitters of fatigue so it’s a false feeling of energy and increases adrenaline etc. Hence why it can deplete our nutrients instead of giving true energy with nutrients. Yes green tea and coffee have antioxidants because they are plants but just get your antioxidants from non caffeinated sources.

all i know is my Grandma and Great Grandma lived into late their late 90’s. this was there menu…. boiled water kept in a glass pitcher in fridge, broiled chicken and beef patties. with salt n pepper, (they didn’t use buns) steamed broccoli, carrots, potatoes, basic shredded lettuce salad with carrots and tomatoes the salad using mayo and ketchup for dressing, skim milk, breakfast was shredded wheat the big squares with cut up banana, or fried egg on top of buttered toast, cut up cantaloupe, grapefruit and oranges and every night a shot of wine or sherry before bed, and always said their prayers upon waking and then again before they went to bed. God had everything to do with their decision’s including food and habits. my husbands folks are now in their 90’s and follow a similar but different menu.

I wish I could have done this for my mother. Do you know anything about SIBO? I think she had this and her friend who died a couple of years before her. Mom died of failure to thrive, could only eat a little bit, nausea, no appetite, diarrhea . She was 89 pounds or less. She survived Covid only to get RSV a few weeks later. If I had lived near her and made yogurt for her, which she loved, she might still be with us. Thanks, I will spread the word about home-made yogurt! Q: Do you advise a plant-based diet? I had to begin including grass-fed beef. I disagree with some of what Dr. Li states.

I learned SO much about eating for health in this hour-long podcast. Eat one pear daily to get 6 grams of dietary fiber every day. True health isn't visible in the mirror or in the number on the scale. I appreciate the science he shared very much and also appreciate Dr. Li's ability to advocate moderation amid all the extreme diets touted now. Doug, you asked some great questions as well. Don’t you still get teeth cleanings though and check ups to make sure your gums are healthy (since you can’t tell on your own)? And because plaque does eventually turn into tartar? I was one who could go years in between cleanings. I got a SoniCare, flossed daily and thought I could go even longer… turns out I went just in time, because unbeknownst to me, I was developing gum pockets! I started using grapefruit seed extract with a Pik Pocket (tip) WaterPik for 5 minutes daily, and they started reversing. Anyway, testing and checkups can be good, but yeah, for _treatments,_ do your own research for sure!! My hygienist sure isn’t where I learned about using GSE with a WaterPik!!

To Dr. Li's intro summary I would add 'attending to portion size' to carbo foods. We grow up eating double to quintuple portions of carbo - and one serving a meal is all we need in most cases. One slice of bread, 1/4 cup of pasta or rice is a serving. Double or triple the veg - and lower the carbo portion unless your life is very physically active.

i saw Dr. Li with Dr.Mark Hyman a couple of weeks ago and bought his new book. I love his delivery in both writing and on this podcast. He is so definite about his beliefs and what food does in the body, but he leans heavily on people making their own judicious choices, given the scientific facts to elicit a healthy outcome. I live in Berlin where great organic food is on the corner, and there's nothing in his books that is inaccessible here. I'm 78. and was diagnosed with diabetes six years ago. I'm fortunate enough to have a doctor who believes that I am in tune with my own body, and knows I want to reduce the amount of metformin I take. My Alc is now 5.7, a drop from 6.1 in the last six months, but I've also lost 14 pounds in that time. I appreciate Dr. Li's trust in patients to lose weight, have a healthy metabolism and blood sugar and gut without drugs. He makes it feel so possible with a the most excellent reason to do so--overall good health through healthy food.

Hippocrates, the father of medicine said, ‘Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food’. Preventing diseases is smarter than trying to control it after food has destroyed overall health. Preemptive measures to stave off illnesses before they arise.

Wonderful, uplifting, HOPEFUL show. I'm all in with Dr. Li and thank you profusely, Doug. Thank you for this fantastic program and asking all the right questions to get us started back onto the road to better and best health. A PEAR! And, yes, I've been talked out of eating more fruit -- which is pathetic -- but I love pears and tomatoes and am now inspired to eat better! God bless you BOTH. Thank you SO MUCH!!!!!

Don’t go hog wild on fruit though. You need to pay attention to smaller or moderate amounts relevant to your particular metabolism and needs. I am a diabetic on keto with IF and it serves me very well. But I feel best when I eat A LITTLE fruit. I eat 1/4 of large grapefruit with stevia on it every day after the 2nd meal of my 2 meals a day. If I ate it at breakfast it would tend to make my blood sugar go up too much and affect my blood sugars all day to be somewhat higher than otherwise. So I never eat fruit at breakfast. I eat it as my dessert after my only other meal of the day ( only 2 meals a day, rarely ever a snack). When I eat it after the meal which is protein & low carb vegetables then the sugar rise from it small. When I eat berries in my goat yogurt I can only tolerate 4 cherries at a time, 5-6 blueberries at a time and two strawberries. In fall I gather free unsprayed crabapples mid July thru early August before they seeeten and the same with wild pears. I gather red September apples unsprayed from the public venue and I eat the high polyphenol skins with a potato peeler and and eat those in my salad and give my friend the peeled apples to make apple sauce with ‘but the apple itself has too much sugar for me. Check your glucose levels when you eat fruit though to know what’s happening to your blood sugar. I figure I can tolerate 1/2 of a kiwi a day. I’m 70.

Carnivore can act like a bandaid for certain gut issues, such as SIBO, because a carnivore diet doesn’t feed bad bacteria. For many, fixing the gut issue is the key fix. She can then eat normally again.

Love, Dr. Li, he speaks about a way to eat for health and nutrition the way most people should believe all things in moderation if you deprive yourself you can’t stick to it. One extra note don’t let yourself go hungry eat from the perimeter of the grocery store anything you wish before you get too hungry so that you don’t over eat

I suffer from a great deal of inflammation and immune system issues. When I do a 16/8 intermittent fasting schedule, I feel so much better. I eat mostly plant based foods, and work hard to avoid simple carbs. I would like to work up to occasionally doing a 48 hour fast. It is a tool for cleansing me of the stuff that inflames me. It's all about how I feel, not about my weight.

Thank You For The Shared Information Dr. Lee & Yourself. I was a Left Breast Cancer in 2008-2014 & in 2014 I wss diagnosed with AML Leukemia. I walked away from the AML Leukemia Treatment because I felt I was dying from the treatments. The prognosis was 5-years I'd live with the treatment or no treatment. I decided to enjoy life. It's now 2023. I was told I have a leaky valve in my heart this past May? As you can see I have a body of medical challenges. I Am Very Grateful To Have Found & Listen To This Great Message or Podcast. I will definitely Use The food as indicated: Pears, Tomatoes 🍅, Green Tea, & Strawberries. Also, I will definitely look for Dr Lee's book discussed here. I have a question, which Green Tea or How Do I Prepare Green Tea Naturally or From Tea Plants Grown In My Yard? I Am A Fresh Roasted Cocoa Beans Or Black Chocolate Drinker not a Green Tea? Please Advise? Thank You Again ❤

I am returning to the above comprehensive video on a way of life/diet that is immensely appealing. I wish scientific terms came written on the screen to absorb them better in one's memory! We are ordering the book Eat to Beat Disease.. what a wonderful concept. For about forty years now, I have stayed away from processed foods with the very occasional exception; all sugary foods and drinks altogether; the Mediterranean diet is a way of life in our home. Nobody believes my age! Plant based, little meats, lots of veggies and legumes, breads of original whole wheats etc and so forth. Listening to this and other videos of Dr Li is honestly tremendously appreciated! For many reasons....
