Personally as Asian i found it super easy to do Mary’s mini. White rice & steamed veggies or stir fried veggies as a no money fast food diet in college. Rice is easy to cook in the rice cooker and when final week come around i simply put on the steaming rack over my rice and add veggies then cook them all at the same time. I wasn’t plant based then so i often add oyster sauce over my veggies. I could eat like that for months on end.

I don’t have a problem with this type of eating. Why can’t you have rice with every meal? I eat mostly potatoes so for me eating only potatoes make me happy.
@ima73332 жыл бұрын
@@missleigh5544 i do have rice w/ every meal. In fact in my culture rice is the main dish. Everything else including meat & other stuff are side dishes. Which is why if you go to Japanese youtuber channels you often see they make mixed rice where they put everything rice & fish/meat to cook together w/ the rice. Personally tho i do mix it all together when i eat, i prefer to cook my rice plain then i do my own mix & match according to what i feel like eating at the time. I often prep 2-3 veggie side dishes to eat through out the week. I make my own kimchi to control the amount of salt in it.

I did Mary’s Mini and it was great re-set for me. I ate sweet potatoes and broccoli. I loved it. Thank you so much AJ, and the McDougals. Love these videos.

This a fantastic video. This is how Penn Jillette, Kevin Smith, and many others, including myself, were able to so seamlessly transision from an extreme S.A.D. to whole food plant based with rapid weight loss. I would encourage anyone transitionining from S.A.D, trying to lose significant weight, to do a Mary's Mini first. It doesn't just recalibrate your taste buds, it also reveals and helps you conquer food addictions. Particularly refined sugar.

Hi; doesn’t starch change to sugar then fat? I am so confused . So how can we lose weight by eating %90 of starch?
@missleigh55442 жыл бұрын
Starch doesn’t change to fat. Fat is fat. I hope you tried this way of eating. I lost four pounds the first week I tried this. I lost 25 pounds over a few months doing The Starch Solution.

Not eating any added fat is the key to eating lots of starch for weight loss.

I read that the McDougalls both lost 10 pounds on the 10 day Mary's mini.. that doesn't make sense considering weight loss is about calorie deficit.... is it water weight/??
@lilyroza2 жыл бұрын
It makes sense because eating the same starch every meal for 10 days, and this is the first time I heard about it, but only vegetables in addition, I think. It is so boring that a person eats just what they need to stave off hunger, so it is calorie-deficit. However you can lose weight on the MacDougal Program for Maximum Weight Loss with lots of calories and variety. Maybe not a lb a day.

I appreciate veganism for sure because I am against all cruelty to animals. However I really believe people need good fats like olives (& yes olive OIL) , flax (&oil) and avocados and nuts and seeds. I don’t know if they include these now but for a long while the mcdougalls shunned all fats. I’m sorry but they’re too gaunt and pale for people their age. They should and can still look vibrant and healthy, as others in their 70’s still do. Even their voices sound weak. Eat more fats. It won’t kill you or anyone and I’ll bet you’ll feel better.

They say, eat the olives, not the oil, eat the avocado, not the oil. Pick up one of their books and read it.

You do realize he is a cardiac surgeon. I think I will take his word. I think they look darn good for their age.
@Lulu-kt6gr7 ай бұрын
@@bntelenniss Read the older additions. I did that when they first came out in the 80s so I do know what I’m talking about. He originally said absolutely no fats. He didn’t even want you to eat nuts or avocados.
@Lulu-kt6gr7 ай бұрын
And I do not think they look good. They probably still stick to a very very low-fat diet and they are missing that crucial nutrient. They might not be getting enough B12 either. That is the other thing that we absolutely need to supplement if we are vegan. We used to be able to get it from the dirt residues but no longer.

People age differently. They are in their 80’s. This diet that is being discussed is a reset diet meant for 10 days. Get clued in.

@bntelenniss7 ай бұрын
I’m wondering why you even bother watching it. We get too much protein in everything that we eat. We don’t need to add any. That’s called common sense.
