A few things to mention: Zandor Vorkov (Dracula in Al Adamson's Dracula vs. Frankenstein) is actually Roger Engel. He was the broker for Adamson's film company as well as a real estate broker, and is alive and well somewhere in the Carolinas, according to Adamson's former business partner Sam Sherman. Also, Francis Lederer (The Return Of Dracula) was once considered for the role that Zandor Vorkov originally played. Forrest Ackerman was the owner of Famous Monsters Magazine, and took people on guided tours of "The Ackermansion" to see his collectibles he amassed over the years, including the ring Bela Lugosi wore as Dracula. And lastly, Regina Carroll (the blonde in Al Adamson's Dracula vs. Frankenstein) was Adamson's real-life wife. Adamson was murdered by his live-in handyman in 1995, and Regina Carroll died prior.

It was a brief battle but it was done so well because the Monster was originally on Dracula's side and as the film goes on, it becomes clear that the Monster eventually has to confront his old master to save his new friends.

If you think Monsters of Terror/Assignment Terror being retitled Dracula vs Frankenstein was bad, spare a thought for the film it's a sequel to: a werewolf film originally titled The Mark of the Wolfman, which was renamed Frankenstein's Bloody Terror in the US. It's got the wolfman, it's got two vampires, but absolutely zero Frankenstein. Some of those exhibitors and distributors should have been shot.

I guess Rolfe hasn't seen the Waldemar Daninsky franchise
@Chaingun5 жыл бұрын
huge Paul Naschy fan, just watched The Hanging Woman with him a few nights ago. this is an old review, perhaps he has discovered the Waldemar movies since? I think they are really hard to track them down, some are in a nice set but only 3 or 4. I think the rarest ones are the one with Caroline Munro where he plays several monsters, the two later ones he did where he was much older, and the one set in Japan
@glenmcculla68435 жыл бұрын
I've got all the Daninskys with the exception of Lycantropus, which i can't seem to get hold of. Sadly, my copy of The Beast and the Magic Sword (the Japan one) is in Spanish with no English subtitles. I just tried to muddle through and understand as much of it as possible. The lengths i'll go to as a horror fan.
@ConstantineFurman5 жыл бұрын
"The Beast and the Magic Sword" is pretty decent, if you have English subs to go with it. "Lycantropus" isn't great, but it's not awful either. It's heavily influenced by "Wolf" and is very low on Wolf Man shenanigans.
@ontologicallysteve77655 жыл бұрын
@@glenmcculla6843 I have an English subtitled print of The Beast and The Magic Sword, and The Werewolf and The Yeti (on DVD). I also have (on DVD) Vengeance of The Mummy-----which is a REALLY solid Naschy film (violent too). I have the uncut version of Dr. Jekyll vs The Werewolf and a handful of other Naschy films. I have soooooo many films. Bought them from a now out of business company back in 2012 called "Cinema De Bizarre".

The outcome of Freddy Vs. Jason isn’t debatable. Jason wins, if I’m walking around with ur head, regardless of whether or not it’s still alive, then I win.
@thehorrorcounselors47474 жыл бұрын
Benjamin Yates I mean he did win the physical fight but that’s not what it was about, Freddy was pulling the strings from the beginning and Jason from what we see is believe to have ended up in hell or the dream world as Freddy is still alive so it is a tie
@benjaminyates64164 жыл бұрын
Brandon, if we are going to go with non-cannon sequels then no it wasn’t a dream because Jason is keeping Freddy’s severed head as a trophy next to his moms severed head in Freddy Vs. Jason Vs. Ash. And in that we find out that Freddy is barely hanging on by a thread. And yea the chick felt the killing blow, after Jason shoved Freddy’s severed fucking arm directly through his body. Jason came out with less damage and the ability to walk away. That makes him the winner.

Three movies that tell you that Frankenstein's monster and Dracula are going to fight each other, all are trash, and they actually manage to be worse than the one before. That's almost impressive.

I don't know, I would say that when I saw these movies, I thought that Dracula, Prisoner of Frankenstein was the best because you could actually see what was going on, but after watching the remastered prints of Dracula vs. Frankenstein by Al Adamson and Assignment: Terror starring Paul Naschy and Michael Rennie, I would say that Prisoner of Frankenstein is the worst, the Al Adamson film is in the middle and Assignment: Terror is the best but still bad because it is the most bonkers.

Silly spanish correction: Drácula contra Frankenstein does not exactly mean "Dracula against Frankenstein" it actually means Dracula versus Frankenstein. To be "Dracula agains Frankenstein" it would be something like "Drácula en contra de Frankenstein". But, 'contra' could mean "against" as well but not when is "A contra B", in that particular case it means versus.

I don't know if anyone cares about this, but right now (as of 7-17-21), Tubi has a decent master of "Assignment: Terror/Dracula vs. Frankenstein." The only things wrong with it are it's in fullscreen and the print's turning red. Otherwise, it's the complete international version of the movie, nice and bright and visible. It's what SHOULD have been released onto VHS and would've helped James judge the movie better.
@ScreamingScallop5 жыл бұрын
Frankie and Drac tussle briefly in Fred Dekker's The Monster Squad (1987); this time, it's Drac resurrecting and controlling sundry Universal monsters, and Frankie ultimately rebels when Drac threatens the child he has befriended. It's probably the best we can hope for in a fight between such a mismatched pair.

For a potential Hammer Dracula/Frankenstein movie, it could be a sequel where Van Helsing is actually Dr. Frankenstein on the run and changing his identity again. He pretends to be (now dead) Van Helsing, but when Dracula revives, he is not a holy man and thus cannot fight with the means of the real vampire hunter. So, he builds another monster to fight Dracula.
