I love what an advocate and positive fighter you always are for Henry. Even though I know diabetes and things along with it have been stressful for you lately , I always love your outlook on life . Insurance is just so frustrating for so many things and I hope your hard work pays off! Oh I'm so sorry Amy -.- I hope you figure everything out :) I'm so grateful for the German Health Care System all the sudden ... cause they pay 100% for all of my supplies without even questioning (apart from my having to pay for health insurance but since I'm a student the government takes care of that) ... Yes getting my pump and the CGM approved was a hassle but once it was approved I never had any issues ... something is really messed up with your system and you should keep fighting! Stay strong :)

Wow! We had free style as well and the insurance said they won't cover it anymore after the new year! People normally look forward to the new year, but I'm always panicking about what the insurance company will come up with next. Ugh 😑. We switched insurance because I've pretty much had it. Can't wait for feb 1st lol! I'm so glad I watched this video! Thank you Amy

The boys' cheesy faces are too cute!! Insurance is a CONSTANT hassle! NO ONE should have to go through hoops to get the medical benefits of THEIR choice. Insurance companies, WE pay you!!! Give us what we ask for and SHUT UP!! Prayers being sent Amy and to all who have to fight so hard to get what they rightfully DESERVE!!! I love your videos Amy. I understand the frustration with medical Insurance. This summer I fought like crazy to get my husbands treatments for ulcerative colitis approved. The infusion was denied because they said he needed to try and fail three other medications first before that would be approved. He was so sick and in and out of the hospital. A month to the day after they denied the infusion he passed away from a pulmonary embolism at the age of 28. Its been a nightmare. I'm so broken-hearted.

Dootsgirl I am so very sorry for your loss! I can't imagine the pain you are feeling yet it shows your compassion to still reach out to others at a time when you are hurting! I will keep you in my prayers. Our insurance system is so unfair.

Glad you got it worked out Amy. I opened a bill today fir $1200 from an ER visit for my son. The insurance said the " provider was out of network". LOL. . Nice try BCBS of TN ! :) Guess I will be making phone calls in the morning.

mom3xys I have had this happen. I went to the ER that was IN - Network and they sent in a doctor who wasn't contracted with the hospital who was Out of Network. Yet another scam these hospitals and insurance are playing!!!

I get my strips on Amazon because they are cheaper. check it out and see if it is more affordable. I use contour next and the pharmacy wants $100 for 100 strips...way too much for me.

Did your insurance buy his Omni Pod? If they did I have an appeal letter that worked for me for my Animas Ping with meter that controls the pump. My argument was that the insurance company paid for my pump and I should be able to use the pump that THEY paid for the way the FDA intended. And if they weren't going to pay for me to use the pump the way the FDA intended then they should pay for a new pump so it could be used appropriately. I also described how incredibly dangerous it would be for me not to be using the pump the way the FDA intended. (Such as you said...errors entering BG numbers)Also if your insurance has been covering the strips...that is another argument in your favor. I won after the first appeal. I really think you have a good case and will get the strips approved. Also don't let them limit your strips. You can get a prior auth for however many strips you need. They try to limit people all the time. I am so sorry you have to endure this stress. I know how stressful it is for me....I can't even imagine the stress if I were fighting for supplies for a child! This is so wrong and it is crazy because the insurance pays so little for test strips!

Amy if you have to pay for them over the counter I can send you coupons or you can go to the company straight they may be able to send them to you cheaper if you need to rant I am here I know how Insurane is. prayers and blessings to all rest and health..

Yeah my insurance medical card decided to not cover one touch strips once then I switched meters and they decided to say I was out of refills for test strips and it costs to much to pay out of pocket finally got it fixed but it's never ending

My son is 8 and was diagnosed with Type 1 this past August! We just tried to get him on the omnipod but our insurance denied it because they say it's to expensive. We have to get a pump that has the cords. I don't want to go that route because I'm afraid he will pull on it or it will get caught on something. It's crazy that we pay to have insurance yet the insurance company doesn't want to do anything to help us out! So frustrating!! Can I ask what kind of belt does your son use for his dexcom? We've been putting my sons receiver in his diabetes bag but I'd love for him to be able to have it on him all the time.

+April Hamm They won't cover the Omnipod?! Ugh. That's so wrong! These insurance companies are playing games. They are making us switch insulin brands this year for the first time since 2011. Keep fighting for the Omnipod. Don't just let them say no. I actually got the strips covered after I finished vlogging this. It's worth the hours and stress of fighting. He uses the tummitote belt by Tally gear. When he wears just the Dex and no phone, he wears a Spi belt.

April Hamm I would fight them on not paying for Omni Pod. I would send them a side by side cost comparison. Omni Pod is not any more expensive than Animas, Tslim, or Medtronic!

He doesn't go to school in the District that we live in. We open enroll to an outside district and they don't bus.
