My girl makes jams and jellies, she offers some that are sugar free that she was sweetening with Stevia In The Raw. One of her customers that wears a glucose monitor called her and ask if she mixed up the sugar free with the regular as her glucose was off the charts. The same day we watched your video on Maltodextrin and we decided to check some different foods. Can you believe that Stevia In The Raw is cut with Maltodextrin. This is absolutely criminal. They know damn well that people looking for sugar substitutes are doing that for either diabetic reasons or just want to keep insulin down. They are trying to kill us before we collect that Social Security and they are doing a pretty good job of it.
@nevastrong285020 күн бұрын
I found an organic stevia that ONLY had that as an ingredient. I ordered more of the same and now it lists “organic inulin.” The stevia brand sold in bulk at Costco is NOT SUGAR FREE.
@Penobscot-xs6xg20 күн бұрын
Before jumping to conclusions, let's get the facts straight. Fruits naturally contain sugars, and their levels can vary from one batch to another. Even with sugar-free labels, these natural sugars can still cause spikes in blood sugar. So, blaming a sweetener without considering the natural sugar content in fruits might be a bit misguided. Maybe it's time to learn how these things actually work before crying foul.

@@Penobscot-xs6xgBut she specifically stated that they did (check the facts) on the stevia in the raw, and it was cut with maltodextrin. So if stevia in the raw was used to make the food, then it would affect the blood sugar levels. Also, fruit sugars are at least half fructose. If you eat some every day, drink fruit juice, or eat things made with fruits (especially concentrated foods, like jams and jellies, fruit roll-ups, etc.), you are going to be eating too much of it. Fructose is just bad news. And no one is just having a very small amount per day, if they are having it in any form at all.

I notice a lot of nutritionists talk about how bad seed oil is but I don't remember them making the distinction between refined and unrefined seed oil. If any of you ever cooked with unrefined sunflower oil you would've thought you used butter or ghee.

I grew up in Germany and what I got from my parents is: best is to plant and grow plants/animals yourself. If not, then only buy food if you can really understand what is in there. Pure vegetables don't come with an ingredients list, same as meat. Simple as that.

So avoid added sugar, corn syrup, protein powders and starches. Got it. Never went for seed oils, already ditched 99.99% of sodas and candies and I only RARELY use a bit of cornstarch as a thickener for a couple specific sauces. Never went for protein powders anyway. Sounds like I'm already doing myself a favor!

Two questions - Corn starch and wheat gluten? These are two ingredients that I have had on my pantry shelf for many years. Corn starch is used as a thickener. I have been baking my own bread for about 50 years. When I use 100% whole grain, I want the bread to be able to rise well. I add organic, non-gmo wheat gluten.

the idea that people thrived solely on exotic fruits and vegetables and lived significantly longer as a result doesn't hold up to scrutiny. While fruits and vegetables are undeniably packed with essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, they don't provide everything our bodies need to function optimally.A diet that consists only of fruit would lack crucial nutrients like protein, essential fatty acids, and certain vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin B12, iron, calcium, and omega-3 fatty acids. These nutrients are vital for maintaining muscle mass, bone health, brain function, and overall well-being.

Hidden Ingredients: Junk food labels often use complex, confusing terms for harmful ingredients, making it difficult for consumers to understand what they are eating. Four Key Ingredients: Synthetic Sugars: These are not the same as natural sugars from fruits and can be harmful. Highly Processed Starches: These are different from natural starches found in vegetables. Seed Oils: These are heavily processed and can be detrimental to health. Highly Processed Proteins: This includes soy protein isolates and casein, which can contain harmful additives and contribute to inflammation. Misleading Labels: Nutrition facts on food labels do not always reflect the quality of the ingredients, making it crucial to understand the ingredients list.
