Today I’m going to show you my recipe for dried shredded pollock seasoned with hot pepper paste. I’ve been making this for a long time and everyone loves it. Full recipe: www.maangchi.c...
I filmed this in Sunchang, Korea, which is where the best hot pepper paste is made! Yum yum!
The Yeongyang hot pepper flakes in this video are sold on Amazon in a spicy bags: amzn.to/2KKesIi
and medium spicy bags: amzn.to/2NR0WoI

Although I grew up in Seoul, I still feel the nostalgic pull of my ancient culture from these regional delicacies and customs--of my ancestors who passed down these recipes and food customs for countless generations. Now, Maangchi is an ambassador who is sharing the Korean culture with the rest of the world.

You make cooking fun! There is something with your videos. Every single detail that has to do with it. The bright colours. The appetising feeling that one gets from all deliciousness that you are making. Even the music (I would like to know the name of this piece of music, it got stuck in my head and I love it). But most of all, it's you. Your brilliant ideas, all from your yummy recipes to promoting the beautiful Korean countryside. I promise you one thing, if you visit Sweden, then we just have to cook together and share a fine meal of ours!

San your vid awhile back and I found some when I was at my local asian super market bought some and it's delicious! I forgot to add water though so it was initially hard a rock 😂 but I waited 3 days in the fridge and it became more moist and tender because the paste really worked it way into the strips. Love how the paste starts breaking down the garlic as well!!

What a treat to see! Thank you, Maangchi, for taking us shopping with you in this most special location. I just fell in love with Sunchang, Korea! (Add it to my bucket list.) What a beautiful and charming place. Also, you look so pretty in your white shopping outfit. I noticed that you all sat on the floor (I didn't realize that this was a Korean style of eating, since I always thought it was Japanese). QUESTION: I was wondering if very old Koreans can still eat this way. Do they stay healthy and flexible enough to still eat sitting on the floor? Your lunch guests seemed very comfortable with it, and they are much older. That impressed me. Maybe the Korean diet wards off arthritis!

Thank you so much for your nice words on this video. Yes, it was great experience for me, too. "Do they stay healthy and flexible enough to still eat sitting on the floor?" Yes, no problem! : ) They may have arthritis or joint issue but I didn't ask them. Korean old people usually sit on the floor, with no problem because they do it all their lives.
