This “higher than thou” attitude of everyone talking shite about a 20 year old car blows my mind. My 1999 Nissan Pathfinder I paid $2000 for and it’s been the best car I’ve ever owned…camping, surfing, pristine condition, low insurance and no car payment. Hell yes!

Why should a 20 year old car even be a problem if someone is willing to take good care of it. AS a society, why do we not build things to last a lifetime? It could be absolutely possible to have cars that last 30-40-50 etc. years.

Most Americans love new and big. I agree with ABB. It’s all about feeding the insatiable appetite of capitalism. I have a 2012 Mazda that was gifted to me by the family of a deceased elderly women, whom I loved dearly. The car only had 23, 000 miles on it and was very well maintained . I took it to two different auto repair shops and the mechanics stated that the vehicle was an infant. The age of a vehicle is not the only factor. How well the vehicle was maintained also matters.

My car is 21 years old and in great condition. As a low mileage vehicle I expect it to be around for at least a few more years, and as it was parked inside our garage all of its life, the paint still looks like new. They're trying to shame people for having an " older " car and yet in certain ways, my car is better than new. I have a naturally aspirated, dependable ( has never failed yet ) V6 mated to a 4 speed automatic transmission with REAL gears, not a noisy unreliable ctv, there's no dangerous and confusing " menu within menu " controls, just REAL knobs and buttons that are easy to operate so you don't have to take your eyes off the road for more than a split second, there have been NO major repairs, the last thing I replaced was a radio and I got a replacement at the local junkyard for peanuts and did the work myself, maintenance is easy and cheap and the insurance is surprisingly inexpensive. Ultimately, the considerable money I'm saving by driving this car will end up paying for my next car. Oh yeah, if I have a flat tire on a road trip, there's a REAL spare tire under the trunk that I can drive on without needing to immediately look for a tire shop which may or may not be there. I'm bound to replace this car eventually but until then why fix it if it isn't broken? No Shame.

I feel bad for the lady. I think its a shame how everyone is making fun of the lady with an older woman can't afford a more expensive car. The defendant is a shady character. To say he's a landscaper in Florida and New Jersey. But he doesn't have the means to purchase a car for himself.. Sounds like he's a loser who took advantage of an elderly person. I don't trust the defendant. I hate the way he is staring at the plaintiff. It is good that she was reimbursed the rental fees. She never made an agreement with him about how far he could drive and she has no proof of any damages. So I think the judgement was fair. He says that she offered him the car but I bet that he dry begged. Strange that she says he took it to the mechanic but he says he didn't. Who is telling the truth? Interesting that she was Facebook stalking him and knew he was going to the bars. Odd that he denied everything. He was gaslighting her. He didn't deny emphatically enough however. He just chuckled. Shady character.

I have a 21 year old Accura with 89k miles on it that I just bought for $4,500. The interior is perfect, leather seats, Bose stereo system, automatic windows/seats and seat warmers. Sun roof and there's a heater in the back. Its painted gold and has the original spoiler on the back and the rims are beautiful 😍 this car is an absolute gem 💎 👌 What happened was the folks that purchased this car back in the day, were elderly and they took really good car of the car and drive it seldomly and they have a garage where they stored the car. They said that they bought another car later and they put the Accura in their garage and they brought it out over the years to do maintenance and let the engine run here and there but that was really it. So when I went to the car dealership to buy a car, these amazing people came in to do an exchange with their car. I was in the right place at the right time because I took the car home that day. My whole point in saying any of this is just because a car is old doesn't mean that its a POS! My Accura is so nice! And it is crazy bcuz purchasing a car that nice with such low miles and everything working and sounding beautiful the way it does and is but is newer..... would have cost 10k or more for sure! Man I am so appreciative for my car to be as old as it is. Okay well hope everyone is having a blessed day and don't always judge a book by its age ;)

I drive a 2006 Suzuki with 156,000 miles on it - for which I paid $6,000 cash 4 years ago - and it the best car I have ever owned! And I am not a deadbeat lol. Mock us all you want. It is *paid for* so just laugh all the way to the bank to make your hefty car payments. :)

Why did she accuse him of lying about the lawyer fees? He was quiet during the plaintiff's part and then the first thing he said when it was his turn to speak was that the lawyer refunded his money. He volunteered that info so treating it as a lie is a stretch.

Not only that, he filed a motion to rescind his counter claim. How is that his fault the courts did not notify her of that? He volunteered that information about the lawyer refunding it on his own, so he wasn't trying to be sneaky.

In Cuba they rent 1955 Buick’s for $100. A day …. A car from 2001 with 100 thousand miles is pretty decent …. The dude is slippier than rain on snow when the temperature drops … That SOB was beating the hell out of the ol Lady’s ride ….

The defendant is a bold faced liar slime ball. He acted incredulous when she mentioned that HE took it to a mechanic. No way the plaintiff makes that up. Just shows that he knew he did something wrong to it and wanted to see if he could get if fixed for cheap before returning it to her. Also, the judge and the defendant acting like a 20 year old car is worthless. Sorry, but I drive a 2001 Mazda Protege. I've owned it for over 5 years. I've spent some money on it for some repairs, but overall it's been a great and very reliable car. And it's definitely not some worthless "clunker" as the judge and defendant want to make out older cars to be...

I'm a mechanic 20 years not too much for a car if it's well-maintained. Cars were never meant to be disposable like the way people treat them today. That is the stupidest thing I ever heard. If you maintain a vehicle it can last you a lifetime.

Sorry guys, but I think the lady was being shady. She was nearly asking for repairs nearly the same amount she had paid for work done on it a little while before he used it. She had no proof of anything, repairs or damages. The defendant I do believe promise to pay her something to drive her car. But I think her problem was more so he used the car more than they discussed. She figured she would just hit him with what repairs she may or may not have already paid.
