This was an amazing interview. Dr. Santosh nailed every point, emphasizing that exercise is the best medicine that we all have to improve longevity and the quality of life. It is rightly said that we want to make sure that we prevent exercise injuries. The key concept that I always want to focus on is "Don't compare yourself with anybody." Start slowly and progress with aerobic training, strength training, balance, and flexibility. They all play a role in helping improve one's health, especially for the elderly. I recommend focusing on exercises that you do on a daily basis. Think about deadlifts. Think about squats. These are all movements that we do every day, and it's important to strengthen these movements rather than just focusing on machine-based exercises alone. Starting with machines is always good, but our goal should always be to transition to more functional movements that we do every day. I love the last point when Dr. Santosh mentioned choosing injuries versus the problems that come with a sedentary lifestyle. Obviously, injury prevention is more important. But slight aches and pains are common. The key is to modify activities during these times, and slowly our bodies adapt and we can continue to progress. Thank you once again to Dr. Santosh and Dr. Pal for this amazing interview.

I am 40 and ran a few 10KM runs and 2 half marathons already. I see so much difference in the way I move on the day I eat a lot when compared to the day I follow the diet and be mindful. On the other hand, I see so many people doing ego lifts without any plan or guidance, sometimes even competing with the person next to them. This is so wrong.

I totally agree with Dr Santhosh. In 2021, I started doing strength training at home as gyms were closed due to Covid. I used resistance bands to work out and one day due to improper posture, I injured my neck and it caused stiffness. Ever since that day, the neck problem is coming and going if I am not careful. I feel I have permanently injured my neck. It has not been the same. Always exercise with proper supervision from trainers.

I humbly suggest that one of the primary reasons I started following your videos, Dr. Pal, was your professional background. Hearing lifestyle advice from a doctor brings a certain level of confidence and reassurance that I don’t quite get from other content creators. Recently, I've noticed a shift in your content with more guest appearances. While I understand the value they bring, I can't help feeling that the essence of what made me a fan - your unique insights and guidance - is somewhat diluted. Your perspective as a doctor is what I, and likely many others, find most compelling. With all due respect, it seems like you might be inadvertently taking a step back in your own show, allowing your guests to take the limelight. I believe it’s essential to remember your influence and the impact of your voice on your audience. It's somewhat reminiscent of how Andrew Huberman runs his podcast; his presence and expertise are the constants that anchor every episode. Your show has the potential to offer the same with your guidance and insight leading the way. Your contributions offer clarity and a degree of insight that's genuinely invaluable, and I hope to see more of it. While featuring guests can enrich the content, I believe the core of the show should always celebrate and foreground your expertise. It's understandable, especially given our cultural tendencies to uplift our guests, but as the driving force behind the show, your presence and insights shouldn't be overshadowed. In essence, Dr. Pal, you are the brand and the beacon of knowledge that many of us turn to. Your show, your rules. Remember, it's not just about being an interviewer or facilitator; it's about being that leading voice in health and wellness that many of us rely on. Keep shining, Dr. Pal.

When I was 60, I developed osteoarthritis of my knees. My orthopaedic doctor told me to do leg muscle strengthening exercises to support my knees for the rest of my life. I dread pain, so I joined a gym; did the exercises daily and also engaged a physiotherapist trainer. I took an academic interest to keep me motivated. I lost 10 kg in weight by going on a very low carbohydrate diet, vegetarians and stick to whole foods. At 70 I began trekking, and continued till a year ago. I am 78 now, continue exercising, stay with my diet and I have been hypothyroid since I was 48. I refuse to grow old and stay very active and socially connected. I have been health monitored since I was 48 for osteoporosis as we have that in the family. I see people all around me becoming frail. I had a total hysterectomy at 48 and a C6 replacement at 70.

A good listen 💪 Well said, if all the people in the world take up resistance training even on a low key point, the world would be 50% sickness free👍 Thank you!
