My husband and and I are both disabled with poor balance, we are both struggling with lifting our feet and I have actually fallen. Is there an alternative that we can do. Our upper body is fine for the exercises shown.

I had a hip replacement three months ago. I know there are limitations to what I can do being that I am in Physical Therapy right now. This looks like it will help me in strengthening my quads and arms. I am 67 years old. I’m on my journey to walking again without the aid of a walker or a cane! It’s been 11 years since I’ve been able to do that. I’m determined! Ty for your videos! Can’t wait to start!

Chung Nguyen, of course I am not a kungfu master, I only interested in bringing health and happiness to people through tai chi. I dislike fighting and violence. I want to help people fight for better quality of life, fight for harmony and peace. I am a medical doctor who focuses on preventive medicine, my colleagues and I care about people and their health. I have answered this several times, making a dvd is a very expensive exercise, once made it is difficult to change let alone the immense cost. Our team did our best, we paid for a professional announcer - and did everything else as profesional and as good as we could. We produced our work with passion and the only objective to help empower people to improve health and wellness. No way we can please everyone or change everything. Thanks for all those who support and appreciate our work and benefited from it. Thanks for those who understand and appreciate how much work and expense we put in compare to vast majority of dvds, and that there is no perfection for every viewer. May I suggest coming to my workshop then you would just have my voice and no announcer.

I am 74 years old and am in recovery from left toe surgery. I thank you for your video to help me with my balance issues. I have registered for a class that uses your methods that begins Jan 7th and meets every Tue and Thurs for the month of January. It was recommended that I use your dvd for beginners daily to help with this instructions. My biggest problem already is just slowing down and then the lack of strength in my ankles. I will advise you of my progress.

I cannot express enough how grateful I am to you for creating and sharing these videos for free.... I will absolutely buy them at some point, as they are the best instructions on Tai Chi I have ever seen. Glad you love our work of passion, we tried very hard to meet everyone's preference. Having reaches well over 15 million people, we found it much more practical to make our work user friendly and instructional clear and step wise. But we are always working on making our work better. Will keep your comments in mind. In fact at the latest advanced series there are only myself teaching but the introduction does have more people - good to see happy tai chi people around the world!

Hi I injured my my ankle last year, got a plate and 2 screws in my ankle to keep it together, the worry I have is would tai chi hurt my ankle or cause pain I am doing psycoho therapy as well, please let me know thanks sharon anne Bell

"It's better to learn fewer movements well, than rushing through many movements". Exactly how I feel about yoga! I'm excited to learn and incorporate Tai chi into my exercise regime. It's a recommended exercise for my blood type, according to Dr. D'Adamo's book, Eat Right 4 Your Type. I have 18 years of ballet and ballroom dancing, and love yoga, so I'm excited to learn this art of movement! Thank you for putting this for free on KZbin!! Your passion for it must be immense to make it available in this way, and I thank you for being a bringer of light into this dark world!

You are a sweet person Dr. Lam - i'm so happy i found your videos - I have health problems that the doctors are ignoring - well; actually there is one doctor who is helping me - and he is SO OVERWORKED! I have a very odd type of vertigo, and also a head injury, spinal injury and whiplash and concussion syndrome - no one is helping me with this - and I used to be a very active person; was a dancer and would walk and sing all night - I was also a musician and performer - I slowly became house bound and bedridden because doctors would not treat me and i refuse to take narcotic medicines. My friend suggested I try Tai Chi - because i am unable to leave my house -and i don't think anyone teaches it in my town - I looked up and found your videos. I have been doing the exercises and the breathing (which is very much the same as what i was taught for yoga and Reiki) - and now - I am able to lay down flat and sleep -which i haven't been able to do for 5 months; and I go out in my garden and do the exercises and then some gardening - I love this- I am an anxious person -so this is also good for me because it is calming. My pain specialst doctor who is wonderful and does acupuncture for me thinks that the Tai Chi is a perfect thing for me to be doing for my condition. I hope that i will be able to buy a good full DVD of yours once i get the small basic moves learned and I would like to learn more! Blessings to you! Eriana.

Eri, how are you now? Have you found benefit from the practice? I ask because I have a TBI as a result of an accident, vertigo, I broke a total of 19 bones, from the hip to neck - on my left side only. It has been 7 years and it sounds like we are both seeking peace and serenity. I will begin with these lessons now. Bright blessings.

i am so grateful for this video being available - i was bedridden 3 years ago; and this got my up, i got my balance back - and eventually - this past year i was able to get a used bicycle and ride every day for an hour. I hadn't been able to do that in 16 years because of loss of balance in my inner ear - but doing the exercises - helped me get this back. Now - this winter I am doing this again. because i just put my bike in the basement because we are all ice and snow now; - but i'm getting back and headaches from lack of exercise - I just had my 57 birthday - i do not feel 57 in my mind -- -but my body has been though a lot. It is good to help my body. Thank you so much

I am 73 my balance has been diminishing . I have looked at other videos but feel a connection with Dr Lam. I look forward finding a side of my self pbysically, mentally and emotionally that I have searched for but not found before.

I have already introduced my girlfriend to this video as she also suffers from back pain and I'm sure she will get just as much from this as I did. As we speak my shoulder pain is almost non existent and my neck and back pain has improved considerably. Again a huge thank you!

Hello Dr Lam I would like to thank you for doing this video. I have Parkinsonism and it has become very difficult for me to do my favorite yoga. But this is so simple, not tiring at all, and you do not have to lie down on any mat (when it is almost impossible to get up on your own). Also I feel it has given me more energy, even though I started only about a week ago. Mariam

I have been practicing yoga all of my life and now I am over 60 and just starting tai chi for the same reason. My shoulders are beginning to bother me and I miss my downward and upward dog's but my shoulders are not as forgiving as they used to be so tai chi was the perfect progression for me. Looking forward to Dr Lams lessons.

Thanks Ungetable7, yes she is beautiful and a wonderful daughter. I am so happy that my daughter enjoys tai chi and participated in our work. Her husband and her friends composed and produced that Tai Chi Music CD Volume 2, they are world class musicians. Many of my participants attended and enjoyed her concerts.

hi dr lam. I had spinal surgery. a broken neck bone 2 smashed discs and a squashed spinal chord. I was told after my operation I might not walk again. my determination has lead me to walk and not give in. I came across your tai chi for arthritis and started doing it. it has helped me in ways I never imagined. I have osteoporosis. now I am buying your DVD. your a great teacher. Hi Cydine, I have worked with people with different levels of coordination, anyone can learn. The key is to follow my instructions, keep practice every small part until you are comfortable with it before moving forward. Tai chi is different, taking time is very efficient. I found the less coordinated people benefit even more when they learn tai chi, with tai chi, whatever time and effort you put in, you will be rewarded more than the effort. Keep trying, take time. Let me know how you go.

I am 72 yrs old and have osteoarthritis . Have had many back and knees damage . Have tried many conventional western medicine working for me. I will starting in December with acupuncture treatments and want to help make it successful is why I am going to be starting your program to get the best possible outcome. Sir, thank you for your videos. My mother had always wanted to learn Tai Chi. In her last days she was confined to a wheelchair after diabetic amputation, but she could move her arms and upper legs. Not too long after practicing Tai Chi she was declared nondiabetic (she had had it since the mid 80s) and able to come off insulin forever. Unfortunately the damage to her body had been done and she passed shortly thereafter. I believe many assisted living and nursing home residents could benefit from Tai Chi here in the US. I will recommend you to them.

Tai Chi for Beginners will help, pending on your condition and doctor's advice, I would think Tai Chi for Arthritis might suit you better because it is little more gentle and has Sun's style's unique qigong (to generate internal energy), many people with Parkinson have found both helpful.

Hi Sharon, welcome to the 70 club, you beat me by a year. I would be very handicap without tai chi since I have arthritis from 13. I hope you enjoy my tai chi and if you can find one of the Tai Chi for Health Institute's board certified instructors to train as well as using my DVD or online lessons, you would enjoy it more and learn more. We would love to have more people from India using Tai Chi for Health program to empower themselves, right now there are only a few instructors you can find them on the Tai Chi for Health Institute's website, also my online lessons are available to anywhere in the world with internet. Hi Bobby are you from UK? did we correspond before, were you involved with UK tai chi union? In any case thanks for the positive comment. Actually this version has been updated 2011, using over 20 years of teaching through videos experience, feedback from thousands of users. We worked out the most easy to learn format, taking a lot of time and effort to plan every movement, words to be clear and helpful. I do appreciate your understanding our team's intention - we really want people to learn and benefit from tai chi. Paul thank you for your reply, his accent is not the problem it's just too loud and brash. Compared to your own wonderfully peaceful and clear voice it's like being woken up by a trumpet in the middle of a peaceful meditation. Dr Paul I’m very pleased to see you program for beginners ,it is beginning to help me, may I know whether can help a 90 year old man suffering With Parkinson’s . As presently my legs are beginning to make me very unsteady on my feet. Perhaps you may know of something I can do. Because of my condition I also experience anxiety. I am an ex-professional dancer - Ballet and Broadway/ Jazz. With major osteoarthritis in my back and having already had two hip replacements, my recent prognosis is life in a wheelchair in 5-10 years.... at not quite 60 years old, I do not really look forward to old age. Yet, your program gives me hope. I've looked at other T'ai Chi videos and classes but nothing seems to take the time to explain the process the way you do. I've ordered both the beginners DVD and the T'ai chi for Arthritis after following you here and walking through the beginning program. Thank you so much. I have hope!

Hello Arun, me too abhor violence. tai chi is about moving internal energy and reaching harmony with others and the world. to remember the movements follow my dvd, repeat lessons and follow my instruction, place regularly.

I've been researching over the past few days where to start with Tai Chi. What recently prompted my interest was after watching an infomercial about it via Dr. Chenge (Tai Chenge) but I thought, why not just learn more about Tai Chi before purchasing. I focused entirely on empowering people to improve their health and wellness. It is a lot more important. FBI statistic show that people are 200 time more likely to be injured from self defence training than being attacked.

I'm a 51 yr old woman who , in your beginners video , felt invigorated and strength. I loved the ability to stretch my body and in places that I was aching for several months . I felt like the more I do this on my daily routine then if I feel this great after trying this one time , I am excited that Tai chi taught by you for me was miraculous and I thank my God he led me to you through Google too! All I wanted to know is "What is osteoarthritis in the knee info?" And it led me to you and your lessons for a beginner and this is for me ! Thank you for caring so much about human life Dr. You are a wonderful inspiration of hope to me mindfully and physically! I love this l have been very ill and am having physical therapy but l find these move pretty simple although l dont have a lot of movement in my right leg lm hoping if l follow this program to the letter l do believe it will improve my health and well being greatly thank you 👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is nice. Thank you. I just recently started yoga and enjoy that as well. I've only been to the chi gong once... Because I work night shift it's hard to do in morning after work. I have been following your video and doing warm up exercises and first lesson for a week. My knee pain is gone n I am going to move on to next level. I feel energetic the whole day. I've been looking for a really good Tai Chi program for me. This looks like it. I'm 74 and on May 3, 2016 I had vertebras L1 through L5 fused. It'll take about 18 months for the process to completely heal. This should cut down that time greatly. Robert Horvath in Tucson Arizona USA

Thanks Valeria, I follow this format thorough all my instructions: I show the entire movement, then explain first part while facing you, then I turn around for you to follow me at least three times, and I explain facing you for part 2, then turn around to do the movement from the beginning. We consider and tried split image it is not as clear. Please try to take time and follow me and I am sure our try and proven format is the easiest to learn tai chi. Let me know how you go.
