I have this same problem myself. It's a lot easier to make friends when you're in school studying a certain subject that you're passionate about because you're surrounded by fellow students who you already know are greatly interested in the same thing. It can be hard for me sometimes to empathize with other people's interests if they're not my own. I love that you used Maud to articulate this. It came out fantastic.

I can empathize with Maud. People know that it's dangerous to get me talking about maps, or about natural disasters (especially severe weather). The former is an employment I love, and the latter has been a research hobby since my first tornado drill in fourth grade. I can happily chatter for hours about them, but like Maud, I still need to work on interesting myself in others' interests. I sincerely hope you will show some of her later sessions. She's such a gneiss young lady.

I love the animation lay-out and style here, when it goes black and white and we see Maud's inner mind represented in kind of a metaphorical way. I think it works better than just having the characters sitting in a room talking. That was a good call by the animator.

@RedDragonForce27 жыл бұрын
When she said all her poetry are about rocks, I let out a small chuckle, because I can imagine such metaphorical depth that needs an open mind to understand the concept. And, as I hear this one, I can't help my smile as I imagine the metaphorical sense and the relation it truly has to what we view. She speaks of all kinds of rocks, and while Geologists understand better because they know 'stone cold' (pardon the pun) the minutia details involving the difference nuances that comes from studying rocks to such a 'degree', it doesn't take a 'doctor' to imagine the specific rocks, at least their common names, that she talks about in her poem that everyone uses in such special events, like an anniversary, birthday, Mother's/Father's day, etc. The Special nature and character Maud has takes some adjustments, but those who can come to understand who she is, can definitely find some common ground of interests. I can definitely imagine Human Twilight in the EGQ world being able to talk rocks with Maud, at least for a few hours. (Sapphires compared to Rubies, etc. etc.) I appreciate Maud Pie and what she brings to Ponyville, and I look forward to future adventures with her involved. Well... Until next time... Later, RDF2

The problem with Zecora is that we have no point of reference about her past or culture (not to mention reasons to live on the Everfree Forest, or even Equestria for that matter). She was concerned about "exploding in anger" (as something that she may regret later, rather than giving her proper retribution and satisfaction) when the Mane six pushed all of her buttons randomly on S1E09. -> Maybe she did something on an impulse when she was younger that led her to abandon her place of origin... or she could be just a "refugee" [like the character she was based on: Guinan from Star Trek: The Next Generation]
