These are both great speakers for anyone that is looking to upgrade to some cheap but super loud door speakers. These work great just on a headunit but if you want to add a amp these things come alive like you would not believe.

DS18 owns Black Diamond Audio. I’d recommend the Black Diamond if you’re wanting something to put on an amp and get loud. The DS18s have a better sound directly off of a head unit.

Ds18 will sound better with an amp too. You’d rather have your speakers play efficient no matter how much power you have. Other wise you generate extra unnecessary rattling in your doors/baffles. Of course you still need the right speaker for the job, but all things equal, the higher efficiency speaker will sound better in a real world installation.

What would u recommend, to switch from a 6x8 speaker to a 6.5 with an adapter kit or to stay with a 6x8. I heard so many good reviews about the ds18 pro, just wanted an opinion.

6x8 limits the amount of speakers you have to choose from but they also offer a different approach to the sound since they provide a good overall sound because of the size. If your just trying to get stupid loud tho get the adapters and ds18 pro 6.5

6x8 are not a good design for a speaker in general. I just swapped my 6x8 for these 6.5 had to buy a bracket/adapter off eBay it’s 3d printed because the metes/ scoche ones don’t fit, this speaker is to big.

I just bought these for my street glide. Definitely need the adapters. I have an amp I just bought also. When they come in I'm going to try them out without the amp first. If they sound good I'll just return the amp

It should be more louder if u get the ds18 4 ohms because is going to ask for more power them the 8 ohms

Yes technically it should be because of lower ohm load also depends on headunit or amp. This headunit at 8 ohm and 4 ohm give literally 3rms different nothing your gonna notice but on a 100 watt difference amp big difference then.
