These videos will step up your balance exercises- it is a combination of balancing while at the same time doing a task with your hands. These exercises are done on the ground. There are 4 stages:
1- Feet together on the ground while moving a small weight from one hand to the other
2. Feet with one in front of the other and moving a small weight from one hand to the other
3. Feet in unipedal- one knee bent with the foot touching the ground or if you can just hovering above it and moving a small weight from one hand to the other
4. One foot off the ground and moving the weight from one hand to the other
It is probably better to do the one with feet together and one foot in front of the other and get comfortable with them before stepping it up. It is a practical challenge to your balance as you will often have something in your hands while trying to maintain balance for example getting on to a bus with bags in your hands. So these exercises will have practical value.
Make sure you have sturdy footwear on a sturdy surface and perhaps have a chair close by in case you need to sit down. Also, at the start you can just do 10 or 15 seconds before progressing to the full 30 seconds.
