Thank you for posting this video, the technique is magic :) My variation: boil water in a pan, then add the fish skin-side-down and continue to boil for about 15-30 seconds. Remove the fish from the water, onto a plate, then remove skin. Now you can empty the frying pan, reheat the pan with some oil and then fry the fish as desired. I was worried that it would overcook the fish, but I didn't notice any difference whatsoever, and the fish turned out great (butter, salt and pepper fried over medium heat, flipping once).

Super tip, thank you. I will try, I need skinless salmon fillet to make salmon cakes, I shop at Aldi which has good prices but I can't find already skinned salmon there. Though, I'm thinking, what if you pour the water on the plate first, and then place the salmon skin side on the plate, only the skin will be in contact with the hot water, and if you feel like the heat starts to travel to the meat and risks cooking it, you remove the fillet and it might be time to skin it. I feel like that way there's less risk of cooking the meat, while still benefitting from this method.

Hello, Yes, mostly salmon skin is safe to eat. But that also depends on Individual health & where you got your salmon. Salmon skin is also nutritious like flesh. Thank you for your comment!
@patrickhenry44522 жыл бұрын
This is great. I always try to keep as much of the fatty meat that's close to the skin, and this works well for that. If you take fish oil pills, that all comes from the fat. Sometimes the edges cook a little bit, but that's OK. If a section of skin gets stubborn, you can usually slip a finger under it and slide it off that way. Fish is now soaking in brine solution. Tomorrow I shall fire up the charcoal smoker!

If you have a full fillet, you can literally remove the skin cleanly from the whole fillet in about 5 seconds with your bare hand. No need to boil any water. Just make an incision to the skin with a knife like you would to skin it with a knife normally, then insert your hand at a slight angle and slide it down the length of the salmon between the skin and the flesh in one smooth motion. There was once a video here on youtube of a guy in a meat packaging facility using that method, but it seems to have vanished. It is the fastest, easiest, and best method to use, if you have a whole fillet. If not, then you can use this method if you don't mind partially cooking the meat with boiling water.

Hi, Salmon is the common name for several species of ray-finned fish in the family Salmonidae. Other fish in the same family include trout, char, grayling and whitefish. Salmon are native to tributaries of the North Atlantic and Pacific Ocean.

I feel so badly for people who must buy fish in a package or grocery store.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! We don’t have much of Fresh fish options, and had to choose package fish! There is nothing like fresh fish, I do agree 😊

Yes, a bit will do! But you can check my other method where the water will pass quickly and should not cook fish much! This one is easy and quick! Hope this was helpful! Thanks!

I'm sorry but I am so disappointed in myself for sitting here trying to cut the skin off with a knife, and I've done it so terribly bad, and now I've seen this video that I'm actually giving you a thumbs-up because I am mad at you really really mad at you, and I've never given someone I thought was up when I was mad at them, but thank you so at least I know for the next time🤦🏽♂️
