Many possible extra task details like expected time, and ordering them by priority or time. Eventually a way to generate a small sub-set list that is do-able in one day (calculated from said taks time details). So I'm building an application from scratch using Svelte -- Javascript backend & frontend. I discovered Svelte Tauri, which is build on rust that makes a whole svelte project very easily multi-platform deployment. To make the whole software an offline desktop application (and eventually should be easy enough to deploy an online version as well as an mobile version) --- Yea I know... To be frank, South Korea is kinda on a Dystopian speedrun when it comes to forcing their children to study and get to a good school and university at any cost. The amount of pressure these children go through, isn't all that related to "Motivation" and "Drive", but rather to live upto the insane expectation their family and academia have from the students. They have to study even with less sleep, through sickness because that's the overall culture that's been formed in the schools. The children burns out, the private schools and private coaching centers (which they attend after finishing school in the evening) keep making money. South Korea has probably the highest rate of Suicide amongst it's young population (School and College students and young people in general). Being disciplined is fine and desire to change your life for better is very good. But let's not overdo it to the point that being insanely disciplined even at the cost of being crazy becomes the social norm in schools and workplaces. Nothing good is gonna come out of it. Well, we are already quite close to that speedrun in the US compared to other countries in Europe.

It’s so true that once you break down tasks and start checking them off, your brain just wants to finish what’s been started. This is such a powerful and practical tip-thanks for sharing it!

I never realized how unproductive i was until i found myself watching a youtube video on how to be productive instead of just doing my work
@InkyDustMan4 ай бұрын
Honestly, yeah, this is the core reason for basically everything. Trust me, I've tried for literally my entire life to figure out exactly why some people are productive and others aren't, and this is the only reoccurring, concrete factor that is actually proven in almost 100% of cases. There is little to no links that you have to enjoy something to do it, and like wise, just because you enjoy something isn't a guarantee or is a main factor in if you're going to do it. People do either what they decide to do with an IMMEDIATE intention to put it into action, or they do what they've always done. The human body and brain functions like a hamster wheel, it's all one big loop, the difference is that you actually get to choose what loops and cycles you want to feed and which not to. BOTH starting and stopping something take effort to do, but once it's going or it's gone, it pretty much becomes automatic. But feelings aren't a factor of what your actions are, they're just feedback, it's what you CHOOSE TO DO RIGHT NOW with that feedback that actually matters. And when it comes to starting, taking immediate action in some form is the most important factor, you can NEVER do something "later" because "later" doesn't exist RIGHT NOW. "Later" and "Now" is never gonna overlap in your brain. Unless you make it.

as someone with ADHD I wasn't expecting this to have much practical advice for me but dam honestly this is great! the tips for creating motivation(since adhd is chronic lack of dopamine aka motivation hormone) totally work for me and are sometimes even habits I already have. The motivation cycle of the ADHD brain is not very efficient on a good day and distractions are more plentiful and harder to deal with and only slow the cycle down. On the flip side, a work may give us so much motivation that it is The Only Work that we can thing about for days to weeks at a time, immune to all distractions, but we do not get to choose what becomes The Only Work. We do what everyone else does but at wildly different speeds

As someone with a Korean girlfriend and a major in east asia the Koreans work so hard is societal standards, and its actually detrimental outside of Korea, Korean International students are renowned for their lack of ability for the more independent western style, and struggle with questions that cannot be answered with factuals. Maybe very impressive on the surface, but theres a reason SNU is only in the top 100 universities, and Western and European Universities are all at the Top.

Wow your perspective is really intriguing and insightful!. It's true that being productive can actually be simpler than we think; all it takes is organizing our tasks effectively. Focusing on what truly counts. Sometimes we tend to make things harder for ourselves by taking on much at once or feeling lost about where to begin. Once you grasp the art of prioritizing tasks wisely and delegating when needed while also making time for rest in between. Productivity starts to feel like nature. The key isn't striving for perfection, in everything you do. Instead aiming to do things well enough on a consistent basis. I appreciate the boost of motivation you've provided!

I think one of the biggest solutions I’ve found helpful is when you have for instance hw u have to do, and u really wanna get on ur phone, just sit there at ur desk without ur phone. u don’t even have to do the work, but just don’t do anything especially not getting on ur phone. Eventually you’ll “want” to do work, or at least feel less less motivated to do it. and ofc like everything it takes time and patience, with bumps all over the road

Remember what you enjoy about the work 3. challenge yourself 4. make work into a habit have few minutes of work bcs u don't want to procrastinate after it go for a walk •tiredness ideally sleep • confusion to do list or plan • boredom change location! background music • anxiety ask yourself multiple questions turn phone on black-white mode, turn off notifications and take appblocker

I like to add as the first to-do list item something like "organize and plan the work", so I always start by something I know how to do and while breaking down tasks into smaller bits makes it looks easier

This video is good for most people, but doesnt mention that the work -> motivation -> work cycle does not apply when you have adhd and finishing work does not cause your brain to produce dopamine thus you dont get motivation for work and thus cycle is broken.

One of the best pieces of advice I have used is a done list. This is helpful to me because I like to use notion, an online platform, to organize my schoolwork. Since I don't have the tangible feeling of crossing it out on paper, i can click the box and drag it to the done list side. It's so nice to see your to do list get shorter and your done list get longer. But the biggest thing is to just do it. It can be anything, the task can be as small as you need since it will help you build up.

Whenever I feel unmotivated, even after I forced myself to work on a 5 minutes task, I will always goes back to bed and did not continuing whatever the task I was aiming for. You failed to mention 1 crucial thing. The type of work is also super important. You can have gigantic to dos list but if each of the task is insignificant, you will never have the motivation to continuing on. Especially without any sense of pressure, there is just not enough motivation to just continue the work

Productivity is a cycle of motivation and work. The more motivated you are, the more work you get done. When the due date is in 30 minutes, you get the task done ASAP because your motivation is sky high. Have a detailed todo list Self Motivation Tricks: - Remember why you are doing all of this for - Remember what you enjoy about the work - Challenge yourself to see how much work you can get done in an hour - Make work a habit (include work in your morning, afternoon and evening routine) - be consistent, even if it means writing one sentence of your essay. Tackle tiredness, confusion, boredom, anxiety and distractions by going on a walk TIREDNESS: Sleep, eat something (esp coffee) CONFUSION: To do list, Plan - what to do and how to do it. BOREDOM: Bg music/switching the location even change ur position ANXIETY: ask yourself if the thing you’re worried will matter in the long run, what can I control DISTRACTIONS: throw your phone away!!
