My brother at one point weighed 409 pounds. Woke up one day and decided he did not want to die at 40 with diabetes. So, he started a garden, a big one. Like an acre. He did all the work by hand, pulling weeds and whatnot. Ate the food there. He weighs 205 pounds now.

I’ve been overweight all my life. Just last year I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. I went cold turkey: I eliminated all junk foods, sugar and intakes less carbohydrates. I eat more vegetables & fruits and exercise everyday. Within 10 months, I’ve lost 30 pounds and I was able to reverse my Type 2 diabetes.

I’m hating these harsh comments. I have anorexia and can’t control my brain with that voice that tells me not to eat. Yet I completely relate to this video. It’s funny how people gasp and feel sympathy for emaciated anorexics yet think these people are just over indulging. Yet shun the overweight and obese. It’s still an eating disorder and addiction, Think about it. Don’t hate

I agree with both of y'all, but there are some I feel sympathy for such as the ones on My 600lb Life, and then there are those that once again forces us to accept that being morbidly obese is okay, and that they can shun skinnier people because of it. Heck, some even make money off of the illness which is even more sickening. Anyway, I hope you feel better :)

same! when alice was talking about how she feels controlled by food, i completely understood even though i'm on the opposite side of the spectrum (i'm anorexic as well). it pains me to see people being so needlessly mean to people who clearly have an eating disorder just because they're fat.

You can see the mom's mindset when she said Darren looked "cute" at the age of 12, when he was already morbidly obese. I've seen that in families that come from very poor countries as well - the parents think that a heavy child is healthy because he or she is not starving. My boyfriend's nieces and nephews are all obese. One I've known since he was around 1. He was a skinny little thing, and once at a family party I noticed that the parents were constantly handing him chips and candy. I saw him again about 7 years later, and he's now obese.

Try reading Dr.Atkins book titled Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution. He explains ketosis and low carb dieting very thoroughly in this book, it's so easy to understand. Its the book my dad followed to loose 275 lb in a year and 2 months. He kept with low carb eating, he ate all the meat and fat he wanted and got healthy. He started with zero carbs and no caffeine for a week to get the body into the state of ketosis. He used Keto Sticks they are urine test strips. After the first week he gradually added more carbs but not exceeding 40 grams of carbs per day through out his weight loss journey. If the body is in the state of ketosis it can not store fat it can only shed fat and other toxic weight so he ate all the fat and calories he wanted to keep himself satisfied while ketosing. There is no need to count calories as long as you are keeping your carb intake low enough to keep you ketosing. Forty grams of carbs per day is a recommended limit to keep the body in the state of ketosis. If you have a cheat day or cheat meal your body may stop ketosing because of overconsumption of carbs so all you have to do after a cheat day is start over by eating zero carbs and no caffeine for a week to get yourself back into a nice deep ketosis. Caffeine spikes insulin thus slowing weighloss so some people restrict it completely even after the first week to avoid slowed weightloss. Eating fat , especially rich animal fats , while ketosing causes the body to ketose more heavily, provides energy, satisfies appetite healthily, lubricates intestines , eyes and skin and is crucial for organ function including the brain. Animal meats should not be restricted either they are too important for replenishing the muscles and organs. Also, no colon cleansers are needed on a diet that causes the body to ketose, in fact it can be detrimental. I made that mistake and almost killed my kidneys it hurt so bad so I quit colon cleansers while keto dieting and I felt so much better. Ketosis causes the body to naturally cleanse itself including the colon. The body works hard enough while ketosing to shed weight on its own. There are veggies allowed in the first week about 1 cup per day they are practically zero carb. They are listed in Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution book. He also wrote a book giving carb count content of many foods to help you stay on track. I've read both of these books. Keto Sticks are urine test strips. Test every day. If your test shows pink color it means you're ketosing. The darker the pink color means the heavier you're ketosing meaning the faster you are loosing weight. If your test shows no pink color it means you are not ketosing not loosing weight but gaining weight so you have to keep eating zero carbs and no caffeine until pink color shows on your test. Eating practically zero carbs for a week should get your body into deep ketosis. Sorry to repeat myself but I hope this info helps people loose weight fast like my dad did. I pray you understand it completely in Jesus' name. God's blessings to ya! 😉

I know this is an old comment but I’ll answer yo question. Broadly speaking you CAN get gastric band and bypass surgeries on the NHS. However these are usually deemed to be last resort actions, and usually what is offered first is a combination of slimming clubs such as Slimming World, gym/swimming coupons, dietician appointments, medications if needed and other things before surgery is considered. I actually went down this route myself, and ended up going through referrals for a gastric band through the NHS, before having it done privately. To get to this stage I’d gone through years of medication, various diet strategies, been hitting the gym 3 times weekly, cut out a bunch of stuff from my diet and tried a number of other things to lose the weight, which didn’t work (yay PCOS). For the surgery itself, even privately, I had to have several consultations going over my medical history and the various things I’d tried to lose the weight before, plus I had to commit to a major number of lifestyle changes after the surgery. The problem with the NHS is that surgery is expensive, and with it there is only a limited number of places available for people to get surgeries and depending on the size of the person they may need a specialist bariatric hospital, and there’s only a few places with those facilities. Result is that people can wait for years.

This food addiction is REAL because of the types of foods AND beverages these people consume daily. It is like being a drug addict and as you said, "food is absolutely everywhere". BUT what needs to be added is that the BAD FOODS are EVERYWHERE. Self-control is not the answer for these people, re-directing their diet to good WHOLE foods, meat/poultry/fish and fresh fruits and vegetables. NO processed foods (breads, cookies, cakes, crackers, chips, etc.) and NO BEVERAGES of any kind - just water and de-caffeinated herbal teas. Check out other KZbin channels, such as Dr. Berg, Autmn Bates, Flav City are a few of the channels that will educate people on proper good food/drink selections.

The root problem is the physical addiction to junkfood. They walk around with low dopamine, and once they eat junkfood they get a massive dopamine spike like any other junkie gets from his drug. It's the junkfood with high fat, highly refined carbs plus high salt that is the problem. They also have high insulin levels in the blood that give them low blood sugar and that makes them hangry all of the time if the addict doesn't get his/her fix.

The diet in the UK is shocking, after living there for 6 months I put on a stone (from 9.5 st to 10.5 st ...). Junk food is everywhere, I witnessed on a regular basis babies and small children being fed a diet of nuggets, fish fingers and chips... I worked in a school and the "canteen" was full of high calorie foods, even the "healthy lunch" was too much for me as an adult. It took me years to finally shed that extra stone, ultimately it is the simplest things that worked: avoiding refined sugar and fried or processed foods, eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, and finding the right type of exercise for me, yoga. I will occasionally eat those, just I keep it occasional. But it's like these people have never eaten anything else than junk food in their life, yet there are so many tasty and satisfying healthy options.

David W. To say that something is rare but that it happens all the time makes no sense! Parents are responsible for this epidemic, just as they are responsible for all other aspects of a child’s well being. There is no excuse for this kind of willful ignorance with all the information that is out there. Fat parents have fat kids. Instead of breaking the cycle, they perpetuate it and blame everyone and everything but themselves. As a teacher, I have watched the children I teach get fatter with each passing year. Kids come to school with purple and red rings around their mouths from candy and soda for breakfast! We should be teaching nutrition and healthy cooking and eating every year as part of the school curriculum. We also must stop normalizing the big is beautiful concept. Big is not beautiful or normal. Obesity destroys our bodies. It is destroying our health care system. Something’s gotta give.
@easypimpin123
@easypimpin123 4 жыл бұрын
@@lessehead something can be rare but because the massive number of americans it still can happen all the time. 3% of 320 million is still alot of people. Childhood obesity is the parents' fault but these people are not children. And schools also have a huge part to play. Elementary schools need to focus the education on obesity to the parents. Most adults would be surprised at how many calories they eat because they dont count. Schools can help with that. Most adults dont know how much cardio it takes to burn off one donut. Schools can help with that too. But if youre an adult then your health is your responsibility. But with all that being said weight gain/loss is extremely simple. If you eat more than you burn you will gain weight amd vice versa. People just need the educatio amd will power. Btw, i used to be morbidly obese amd now im 6 foot 180 pounds and i dont even think about food all day. Someone at work put a piece of cake to deliberately derail my weight loss and i sniffed it and threw it away. I then got 2 hours of gym time after work that day. Very simple. Will power plus exercise means weight loss.

I am somewhat envious if there were an operation I could have to wake up helping me each day to be healthy I would sign up tomorrow. Its Not an easy lazy quick fix for them its major changes sdo I hope they all see therapists post op to help them through the many changes. Good luck to them all and enjoy your improved lives. :-)..

The idea it’s a simple operation or that any weight loss operation fixes their overeating is uninformed. ALL it does is reduce the size of the stomach which is needed as they’ve stretched out their stomachs so disproportionately they r never satisfied. A bypass helps further as it bypasses the food so blocks absorption of calories. It does NOTHING for the food addiction or cravings. A lot of these people fail because they think it’s a quick fix, and they continue to eat high calorie foods. It’s AS much a psychological disorder/addiction as anorexia. U r addicted to control, they r addicted to comfort. Either way both won’t be “fixed” without extreme lifestyle changes and psychological therapy. It’s life long maintenance. These disorders are complicated by the sufferers delusional thinking and refusal to make the change! A lot of parents are finding themselves being accused of abuse for allowing their children to become obese, as usually one or both parents are too! Or growing up with abuse/sexual abuse and no therapy drives these kids to self comfort. I wish u health and happiness on your journey; it’s not easy but you ARE worth it!

Chowed those things gained 15lb seemed like overnight! I LITERALLY had to stop and it WAS like crack! I was having to make myself stop thinking about them; steer clear at the grocery and then there it was... those damn commercials in my face! We would be cracking up cuz I announced it to my husband (or ladies in the grocery store)! So I get the addiction part, same with bread Lol! But I did stop n lost the weight. I’m 5ft1 15 pounds is 2 pant sizes for me! So it shows immediately; no damn breaks for me lol! I heard a motto that always stuck with me “ Nothing tastes better than looking and feeling good. Ok so I have to NEVER look at Reese’s but believe me, the feeling I get when I turn a couple of heads walking down the street IS better! If you STICK to it, and eat right 99% of the time your health and life will be so much easier! Best wishes! SHIT! Now I want one of those crack Reeses! LMAO
@erust9465

Burnt Orange from what I’ve studied sugar is addictive. (My Reese’s story gave me that personal experience). That being said on the medical list of most addictive substances, the hardest to stop forever are nicotine and opioids especially if u r main lining. What those substances do to the brain far out weigh sugar n carbs. Yes u don’t HAVE to smoke or take pain meds or heroin... but the change those things do to the brain can be permanent. Not so with sugar and carbs. Sugar n carbs satiate taste and psychologically satiate on a comfort level. So let’s say u grow up comforting yourself with food. Your brain can unlearn that, u can retrain your brain to get that comfort in a healthy way. That’s why psychological therapy is a MUST for those people. I’ll always luv me a Reese’s peanut butter cup, and if that’s the only place I Found comfort since a child it’s gonna take a long time to get that feeling elsewhere. Damn near impossible if I don’t fix why I went to that in the first place! You can be the most emotionally stable person and nicotine has permanently changed your brain (and worse with opioids). All take psychological therapy to fix, but it’s food addicts that don’t embrace or believe that. Weird as well is the delusional thinking that ANYTHING is going to make me; for instance; not love or want a Reese’s! Smokers know, drug addicts know. Up until the past 10-20 years smoking was a lifestyle reflected everywhere. And it didn’t destroy your life like morbid obesity or hard drugs do. You’ll die a lot quicker and have triple the health issues from being obese. Not so with nicotine making that the hardest substance to stop forever. My mother is 90, healthy as a horse but the typical old age things like arthritis. She’s been a smoker since 20! She’s done everything else right, eating and exercise she’s still size 5! People that are morbidly obese DON’T live near 90. Neither do serious drug addicts. Can’t tell u how many times she’s quit! At this point we r like smoke up Mom...the hellishness of quitting isn’t worth it, not at 90. If that’s enjoyable to her at this point whats the difference?! When people say “it knocks 10 yrs off your life” my answer to that is “what 10 yrs are that, the adult diaper years? No thanks!” Whatever the addiction a person has IS the hardest thing to quit! The permanent reconfiguration of the brain from years of drugs and nicotine far outweigh sugar and carb addiction. Believe me I’m all for smokers clinics to quit; like drug rehab even over eaters have rehabs. Smokers don’t! You are on your own!

Obesity can also affect the depth of a person's voice due to all that extra fat padding around the vocal cords inside the body. It's kind of like how an empty room can echo, while a full room doesn't. In my senior year of high school I lost a significant amount of weight, and I noticed that my voice actually sounded higher and lighter with the weight loss than it did previously.
