Let's face it, most of us LOVE to eat and we are constantly being tempted by a sumptuous array of delicious and oft times unhealthy delights. Well, we can't resist all of the time, and nor should we!
Enter "The Cheat". Is it a meal, a day, or longer? What works? If you think that I don't partake in pizza, fries, cake, and chips - you'd be wrong! How do I do it, and how do others do it? Watch today's video and see who's cheating and how. It's not just Adam Levine lol.

I never do a full cheat day but I will do a few cheat meals per week. Like you, I love pizza and we might go out to breakfast once or twice a week. But we are healthy eaters most of the time. Took me about 60 years to learn it doesn't have to be all or nothing.

I avoid them in spring and summer but once the NFL starts, I have them every Sunday. Plus beer.

Such a great video Nancy! I left those cheat days behind in my 20s, I work too darn hard to put it all back in one day! I might live vicariously through Will on his donut binges, knowing full well I cannot get away with that myself without feeling sick and paying the price. These days, it takes me 2 weeks to work off 1 pound of weight gain from bad eating habits. I love that you manage too look so fabulous while having a treat now and then, that is the way to live a sustainable lifestyle. I must add your outfit is tres chic -- and now you got me craving pizza in the worst way LOL

I think this shows that you have a healthy relationship with food, which is so refreshing to see. I've always thought of the whole 'cheat' mentality as a sign that your usual diet is too restrictive. You can restrict without it needing to be really restrictive. Unfortunately so many do eat too little thinking they have to. But saying that, I absolutely LOVE watching Will do cheat days/meals/challenges 😄🤷‍♂️. Awesome video Mama Tenny! I hope you are feeling good after your holiday. 😊❤️

Agree, I eat what I want in moderation so I don't have huge cravings that lead to a cheat day. I enjoy having snacks at night after a long day, so I don't deprive myself. A daily 100 calorie yogurt or ice cream bar can fit into my life.

i tried a cheat evening once a week a few years ago but it didn't work for me. i would diet like crazy all week and then eat so much (especially chocolate) on friday or saturday evening that i would get migraine. i am not a fan at all. now, i eat something i like every single day, something small and it makes me happy and the rest of my diet is just normal (maintaining). works very well for me. there are no rules, when i want something i take it, when don't want anything it's totally fine

I'm not sure where I am on the cheat day spectrum. I tend to eat healthier Monday to Friday than I do at the weekends and think if I didn't set some boundaries I would eat far too much chocolate and sugar. But I probably consume as many calories eating "healthy" snacks trying to fill me up. I have a huge appetite! Great advice and insights as always. You're very inspirational x

Thanks Julie! You sound very aware of you’re diet/consumption and that’s half the battle! I actually think I’m the same as you, I have no need or desire to add the extras M-F, it’s the weekends that our routines change a bit!

@@MamaTenny I am trying to do, how you, so keep a balanced diet, so no such things as "bad or good food". if i have to choose, ice cream.. to be honest i always choose a lower sugar version, cause i feel better..!!:) And on non cheat meals i love Wills anabolic ice cream!:)))

Been tracking since May. I would say I employ cheat treats that I build in regularly, moderating the portion, and maybe a cheat meal or two on the weekend… also planned for (as best as I could). Better for me to cheat than emotionally eat. Also tell myself I can have more of said item later. Luckily after a while, I tend to eat the same things from day to day so it’s pretty easy for me so it’s not too difficult to stay on track 80% of the time. And my digestion sucks so that also helps me stay mostly on track.

My usual “cheat” is either regular pizza, takeout Thai food or some sort of full sugar, dessert. I have found ways to incorporate things like Oreos into my nightly Ninja cremi recipes. All bets were off on my recent vacation for a couple of days.

I don’t like using the word cheat day/meal/snack for myself. I don’t want to feel guilty. I prefer indulgence instead. If I indulge in in a food/s I try to have that food/s still be in my calorie intake for that day. If I go over I just try to be in a calorie deficit the following day/s to make up for that indulgence food I had ate. It’s been working for me. I’ve been maintaining my weight the end of 2019.

Sounds fantastic Cheryl and I have to agree about the “cheat” mentality! Why make ourselves feel bad or guilty? Give and take, swap in and swap out, find a balance that works for you, and you did! Bravo! 😘

No cheat days, ultra processed foods, junk. Mentally physically better. Relieved I got off that roller-coaster. Some my yummy foods, natural plain yoghurt w berries almond spread pepita. Kombucha, low sodium Vegemite, natural popcorn. Kiwi fruit. Grapefruit. Green tea. Apples, salads, eggs. Minding my calories and nutrients takes hard work thus I wouldn't hurt myself with garbage load of junk food calories. Especially now at 54aged I think and feel different from earlier decades.

Totally agree with you. I appreciate you sharing your view and observations for a healthy way / view of eating. I dig Will’s content and like you, do not care for the donuts or 10k days. He can have ‘em all😂🥳 I do not “cheat”, eat junk or sugars. I rarely snack. I do not have a sweet tooth. Perhaps it is from upbringing? Both parents and I (from age 6), cooked and fresh, from scratch made food was very important in our busy household. For a few years, my mom taught classical French cooking out of our kitchen. There was always fruit, cheese, nuts, raw veggies and French pastries for snacking. Throughout childhood and high school years; I was allowed to eat anything, anytime and however much / little I wanted. I was very active with biking and sports and maintained a healthy weight and musculature. I feel fortunate to have a healthy relationship to food.🍀 Please keep up the honest, fun videos. Peace and health to you and your family. ⭐️✌🏼

Cheat days (along with getting way too lean) gave me pretty nasty binge eating problems that I still deal with. I highly recommend staying away from it if you’re prone to that kind of thing

Anything extreme kinda makes me feel sick these days so my "cheats" are usually an extra piece of pizza or glass of wine. Nothing extreme. I dont think I could even eat 10,000 calories if I tried! lol

I find that if I allow myself an "unlimited cheat day", I can go crazy.... And the salt / sugar etc in my cheat foods mean I also don't feel great after, and retain weight, so an unlimited cheat day for me resulted in seeing no weight loss for a week. I calculated the calories, and found it was nearly 3x my normal calories (3,000 - which isn't a lot for many / not hard to get in!). So, today I have a cheat day.... but it's already planned out at less than 2,000 calories because I think that will work for me!

Great advice as always ... My special treat?.. pancakes bacon and a hash brown. I'm going out for brunch tomorrow.. already checked the menu, french toast and bacon . ( I really do like bacon 😄) I track the food, but absolutely no regrets. Xx

Freaking finaly: someone says they have pizza as a regular meal. Not "diet pizza" or pizza that tastes "just as good as the real thing". That's what balance is all about. Have your pizza in moderation, people!! ....also your bracelet made noises through the video and I couldn't help but think about a little pup walking around and got excited for a moment 😅😭

I keep trying to convince restaurants to do everything tapas style - then I can have the 1-2 bites of the things I’m craving without having to order the massive portion that I didn’t want in the first place and won’t finish in any case. Hasn’t caught on yet. 😂 Great video!

When I want to eat something I log it and eat. That’s the arrangement I promised my registered dietician. Also when I try to avoid well I eat things “healthier” then I’m not satisfied and end up still eating what I wanted in the first place. So instead of eating the chocolate bar for 280 calories, I have now eaten 300 “healthy” calories + 280 calories from the chocolate bar. 😮 So eating what I wanted in the first place, I avoid that mess😊

We like to be low carb most of the time but we take "breaks" to have things like Chinese, Greek, Japanese or Indian foods. It helps to know we will not be missing out forever. You can eat anything you like, but you need to keep in mind your nutrition needs. Peanut butter sandwiches are my downfall. I can’t have them, and I can’t keep peanut butter and bread in the house. Every time, I constantly justify my treat because it’s “cheap”. But it is frightfully expensive! My blood glucose levels spike, then drop, and I’m back on the hypoglycemia roller coaster. It takes insulin, glucose syrup, test strips, basically, a few hundred dollars, for me to have peanut butter. It is NOT affordable, when my health is damaged. That McFlurry I indulged in? It would have been cheaper to eat waygu, including the trip to Japan, to enjoy it. My preference is to make carrot “bread”. I grate half a carrot, and I use vital wheat gluten, stevia, psyllium husk and egg to create a personal sized treat I can eat, from a 1916 diabetic cookbook… you know, from before insulin was a thing, and people with diabetes still wanted a treat. It’s not like real carrot cake, but it fools my sister, go it’s good enough. However, most people can be reasonable, and include special food items in their standard diet with a bit of planning. If it’s really special, like your grand baby’s first birthday, have the birthday cake! Even I did! Thank you for this! I think maybe people think you’re very strict with your diet because you are very strict. You actually like what you eat, and how, so you don’t deviate. More people need that integrity. Thank you.

Agree, I eat what I want in moderation so I don't have huge cravings that lead to a cheat day. I enjoy having snacks at night after a long day, so I don't deprive myself. A daily 100 calorie yogurt or ice cream bar can fit into my life.
