If you are flat broke and need your protein, then dry beans, eggs, and chicken leg quarters are your friend. They are really cheap and can make many healthy meals out of them. Also frozen veggies and fruit are like $1, I get them from Dollar Tree. Rice is very cheap and oatmeal. For breakfast, I usually have oatmeal with a bunch of fruit in them like bananas, blueberries, and peaches, with a little bit of brown sugar and honey. I snack on fruits like a couple of hours later. For lunch I would have rice, a veggie, and a meat, or sometimes a sandwich with lots of veggies on it. Couple hours later, another piece of fruit. For dinner I cut out carbs like rice and potatoes, I usually have all my carbs earlier in the day - I'll have like a couple of chicken leg quarters and some vegetable. Oh, I forgot to mention the most important thing, drink only water. I have like 3 gallons of water a day. This is really cheap list for people who don't have a lot of money.
@chrispeters96549 жыл бұрын
sounds about right.. When i was broke, i would just get like 4 cups of rice, 1 can of black beans, and toss in a couple of tbsp of extra virgin olive oil in a big tuba wear container and eat it throughout the day. Walmart- 5lbs of chicken $8-10, cut into chunks and mix in with rice & beans. Bam- awesome carbs, healthy fats, solid protein. pretty cheap. Do that everyday. Weekly groceries was like $15-20 max
@mickymickymike41059 жыл бұрын
Exactly! You definitely get your money's worth with beans, rice, and chicken. Especially if you buy dried beans, not the beans in a can. You get 1 bag of dried beans that is worth like 3 cans of beans, you season it, put in crock pot overnight, and you're good for like 5 days; and you could get tons of protein out of them because meat is very expensive. Thanks for the reply and good luck with your health and fitness goals.
@DefeatLust9 жыл бұрын
Hey Micky, just wanted to ask how you prepared your oatmeal?
@mickymickymike41059 жыл бұрын
JoMomma239 I buy the whole oats, not the oats that already have a lot of seasoning in it that come in packets. I use about 2 to 3 cups of whole oats, 2 cups of almond milk (I can't drink cow milk because I'm lactose and tolerant), a little bit of cinnamon, 3 teaspoons of brown sugar, and whatever fruit I have available I'll put it in the oatmeal; usually it's bananas with blueberries. Put it in the microwave no more than 2 minutes and stir everything together. I eat my oatmeal with 3 scrambled eggs with cheese and a glass of water. Eating this makes me full for at least 4 to 5 hours.

I have a great modification to this that I've already been using... Every Day Breakfast: oatmeal, 6 hard boiled eggs (you can throw a couple of the yolks out or give em to your dogs like I do), a banana, and a handful of almonds. Every Day Lunch: rice and chicken breast. Now, for dinner, you're going to be alternating: you'll always have a carb like rice or quinoa, you'll always have some beans (kidney beans, black eyed peas, or any other healthy bean), and you'll switch off between 6 eggs one night, and a meat the next night. This way you're only eating meat every other night. Not only does that save money, but it gives your metabolism a break. You know how much easier it is to digest eggs? AND you get the same amount of protein. Other than that, throw in a protein shake post workout, snack on hard boiled eggs throughout the day, and buy some plain Cheerios to snack on (the Family size box) because they have no sugar and the first ingredient is oats. Now you need some vegetables. Buy kale. It's 99 cents for a bundle. To make it easier, I blend it up with a little water and an apple ( I also throw in some ginger root). With this plan, the most expensive items are going to be your almonds and your meat. But rice in bulk, buy beans in bulk, buy meat in bulk, buy cage free eggs in bulk. There's no gluten in this diet, no sugar, you're getting fiber, healthy fats, protein, complex carbs. And oh yeah, one last thing: virgin coconut oil. Mix a big spoonful in your protein shakes for the MCT oils and healthy fats. THIS IS THE BEST, CHEAPEST WAY TO GAIN HEALTHY MASS. It's been proven that you don't need a shit load of protein. A gram per body weight is PLENTY. You need a lot of carbs and A LOT of healthy fats. Fat doesn't get you fat, sugar gets you fat. It's very difficult to get fat off eating rice and beans!
@hitssquad10 жыл бұрын
Rusty Shackleford > Every Day Breakfast: oatmeal Carbs in the morning is a bad idea: body.io/ > Fat doesn't get you fat, sugar gets you fat. Carbs in the morning get you fat. > It's very difficult to get fat off eating rice and beans! Rice and beans are mainly sugar.
@rustyshackleford474310 жыл бұрын
hitssquad Rice and beans are mainly sugar? Dude you are very confused. Wild rice has ZERO sugar and black eyed peas have 2 grams of sugar. Dumbass. Carbs in the morning are a bad idea? That link you gave does not even include cited research papers. I go off what has been demonstrated by research. If carbs in the morning are a bad idea, that means eating vegetables in the morning is a bad idea. Your glucose tolerance is at its HIGHEST in the morning, so if anything that's the BEST time to eat carbs. But here's a fact: carbohydrates produce a metabolic effect. Another thing that makes your comment so stupid: I guess all the bodybuilders who have been eating rice are doing it wrong right? No mind the Mr. Olympia titles those guys have. I'm guessing that it's not obvious to you how stupid your comment is, but it's painfully obvious to me and anyone else who has actually read research papers on dieting. Your advice is dangerous to anyone who follows it.
@hitssquad10 жыл бұрын
Rusty Shackleford > Wild rice and black eyed peas have ZERO sugar. Let's check: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black-eyed_pea 14.26 grams sugar per 100g. It's mainly sugar, by Calorie. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wild_rice 19.54 grams sugar per 100g. It's mainly sugar, by Calorie. > If carbs in the morning are a bad idea, that means eating vegetables in the morning is a bad idea. That depends. There are "vegetables" that are virtually zero calorie. One example would be broccoli. There are "vegetables" that are starchy, meaning they are mainly sugar. One example would be the potato. There are "vegetables" that are mainly fat. One example would be avocado (also called a "fruit"). Starchy vegetables would be harmful in the morning, because that is when cortisol is naturally high. Cortisol in the morning mobilizes fat, unless insulin is present, in which case the morning cortisol instead breaks down muscle. Eating starchy vegetables in the morning will stimulate insulin secretion which will cause the naturally-present-in-the-morning cortisol to break down muscle. > Your glucose tolerance is at its HIGHEST in the morning That is why glucose should be consumed at *night*: www.schwarzenegger.com/fitness/post/under-the-hood-how-carb-back-loading-works > carbohydrates produce a metabolic effect Yes. That's why they should be consumed post-workout. > all the bodybuilders who have been eating rice are doing it wrong ...Not if they've been eating it post-workout and/or at night. There are better carbs for bodybuilding, though, such as dextrose and maltodextrin.
@DexterHaven10 жыл бұрын
Rusty Shackleford Yeah, I guess Jay Cutler and Chris Aceto had it all wrong. ;) Two biggest carb meals of the day are breakfast and post-workout. None at dinner.
@rustyshackleford474310 жыл бұрын
hitssquad Dude you are so confused! Those links you posted don't even say what you're saying. You said 14.6 grams of sugar per 100 grams. It says 3.3 grams! Also the rice link you posted says 0.73gram per 100 grams! If you're going to lie don't give me the link lol! Everything you're saying is based on random articles that are not backed by research. I go off what has actually been demonstrated in legitimate research. And guess what, since I've been eating mainly rice and beans since first posting this, my abs are looking better than they ever have been and I'm still gaining strength. And Dexter has a great point, why the hell would Cutler and Aceto eat most their carbs in the morning? Oh yeah because it works! And you said the reason your glucose should be consumed at night is because your tolerance is HIGHEST in the morning? LOL that doesn't make any sense! You WANT your body to tolerate the glucose moron. Anybody that knows even just a little about nutrition realizes how stupid you sound. You're the kind of person who will NEVER admit you're wrong. See how that works out for you. Peace

red lentils+whole grains, eat that and hit the daily protein requirement for max hypertrophy which is basically 1.6 gm of protein per KILO(i repeat 'kilo', not pounds, 'kilo') of bodyweight IF you are eating 10 percent of daily kcals above maintenance. For those that are unaware, red lentils have a higher protein quality than beef. If you just eat red lentils and some kind of grains, you will get very high quality protein to build muscle. Black beans have the best protein quality among legumes, slightly higher than red lentils. Another option is skimmed milk powder, which is very cheap but is an extremely high quality protein source. How high? 35 gms of protein per 100gms. Milk protein is the very best kind of protein there is. So these are great options, drink cocoa milkshakes with 3 litres of skimmed milk, you are getting a lot of zinc and 105gms of high quality protein.

What is more impressive about plant based proteins is that they are all carbs and protein, there are no dietary cholesterol in them, which means, if less than 10 percent of your daily kcals come from fat, and the rest is carb and protein, even if you eat 30 percent above your maintenance for 3 months you will maybe gain 2lbs of fat, because carb and protein dont turn into fat(actually they do but so slowly that it des not even matter). Denovolipogenesis procedure is very weak in humans so our body does not turn carb or sugar to fat, it turns it into body heat.
@jtraining2958 жыл бұрын
a lot of protein from plants goes to waste,can't beat meat and poultry sorry studies have shown that you only absorb 50 even as low as 40 percent protein from plants vs meat 80 - 90 percent dairy has near full absorption depending on the time you take it post workout ect first thing in the mourning
@jtraining2958 жыл бұрын
also saturated fat from meat is good to help testosterone but in moderation and fat in general is essential you could live just off fat and protein carbs are not needed to the extant the Western world eats them

I don't bodybuild, but have been eating like that for years. When he started in with the ravioli bit, I was shocked. High sodium processed food would be the one thing you don't want when your blood pressure is already elevated from the steroids and testosterone. Bulk long grain brown rice is a good complex carb. Corn grits is another one that is very inexpensive by the 5 and 10lb bags. I look for off brand tuna as well- oz per oz, you can meet your protein requirements much better with fish than chicken. Bulk boxes of frozen tilapia can sometimes be found at wally world. With white rice, you can add a ripe banana, and some plain yogurt to a cup of cooked white rice and make a sort of pudding thats very filling, and it's good energy food.

Actually you want to take in a lot of sodium if you are trying to bulk up, it helps you retain water. If you are out of shape and have high blood pressure then that can be a problem. Do you even lift?

I live in coastal Florida, eat seafood at least 3x a week, and have excellent blood lab results. I've never known anyone with mercury poisoning either. I rarely eat canned fish, as I catch more than I can consume.

I was introduced to Rich Piana channel about 3-4 days ago, he's straight up with the information, he doesn't give a shit, he's sharing what has worked for him and will work for others. Will be restocking my cupboards in the coming days. Many channels rant on about the expensive powders that do this and that, ain't nothing going to work with out good Nutrition, been out injured (fractured toes is no fun with deadlifts and squats - if you have experienced fractures you know the difference between needing to balance and the high possibility of taking you/the barbell and weights for a walk that won't end well). I know the meal plan he speaks of, mixing in some additional things can make it into a delicious meal. When you love what you do? Nothing can stop you. Always working on mind set, it's an absolute no bullshit matter of success!

I love to eat different types of beans and lentils they are about .99 cents a bag loaded in protein and fiber etc and they are heart healthy eating this stuff actually helps to lower cholesterol. I cook up beans and brown rice throw them on corn taco tortilla's squeeze on a lime a little low sodium hot sauce and bam you have a cheap, delicious, healthy meal.

+Tristan Richgainz okay bro I can understand that because this is also my dream I'm 17 years old but I'm smart enough to know to take a smart approach to this lifestyle it's tough but sacrifices have to be made I want to get that ifbb pro card but I won't let it dictate my future I won't go flat broke to get it I will create a career through college that is stable and once I'm able to I will take it to that next level , it may sound like I'm letting time fly by me but I'm taking it slow and letting it all fall into place.

Buying dry beans is also a cheap as fuck way to get protein. I put 2 lbs of beans pinto black kidney whatever the fuck then I throw a ham or some pork chops or a beef roast and some carrots and whatever other shit I can find in with them in the slow cooker. I cook rice to eat with the beans. Beans and rice make perfect protein, plus the meat and you are getting a shit ton of protein, and I can eat on that shit for like two or three days. I also like to eat apples and shit too.
