Reset the air gap to .015, change the carburetor, and use premium gas with a good synthetic 2 stroke oil. The part # for the kit is in the video. This is a second posting of this video. Sorry for the confusion guys and gals.

Obviously an aftermarket carburetor, probably the issue. I am a Echo certified master tech and a Stihl platinum certified tech with 40 years in the repair business and half of bullshit you stated in this video is ridiculous theory ...! ...

First of all I hope you are safe from the pandemic. Secondly Thanks for taking the time to comment. I went to your channel to view your content and see if you, with all your certificates and experience, have shared your expertise. Nope, nothing. So that makes you a trolling keyboard warrior. I know exactly how you junior, all the way up to master techs work. You are on the clock and sell new machines. You price a repair so high that the average guy can't afford to repair it. Whether it's a blower, hedger,chainsaw or whatever. I on the other hand like to investigate and find the cause of a problem. Sometimes I find a cure sometimes I don't. The point being although I lack my Gold certificate, I make the effort and provide a video of my thought process. I will continue to do so. Whenever you decide to get off your certified ass and provide some content I will be your first subscriber. Don't think for 1 minute that I will change my ways. And while you are typing up some witty reply ask yourself this: why are there so many youtubers making videos on Stihl and echo products? They are trying to fix what they own. They are trying to maintain what they own. Try being a 1 man operation on a new 8010. It dies for no reason and it's the only blower you own. It's how you make money to feed your family, make your truck payment and keep a roof over your head. It's Brand spanking new And the certified tech can't get to it for 3 weeks under warranty. Answer the question, what would you do? This scenario plays out Every Day in every town as guys try to make money. Your knowledge and certificates might as well be unicorns and rainbows to that 1 man operation. Cone back to my channel, leave a link to a repair and get some followers that you can actually help. They would appreciate it. And lastly what you think is bullshit is your opinion. Stay safe and happy trolling as look up at your paper accolades as they adorn your wall. Sorry for the big words, you might have look em up.

ulitepilot aka Zombie Dave typical response from a butt hurt shade tree wanna be who couldn’t make a living in the real industrial world of actually being a employed technician so they gotta live in the pretend world of youtube so they can produce content for ignorant of fact desperate people seeking to resolve an issue by thumbing through hundreds of opinions of parts changers wasting their money trying to fix their own equipment. This is America so that’s their prerogative but it’s not often the best or least expensive option. You not honest , your first intention is not help people it’s make money off of content that you think is easy for you to film , if you could knit sweaters you would be filming that too ! So don’t bullshit , you got called out for a shit video with a defect in explanation and diagnosis and most newbys looking for help wouid not catch that , your just pissed off I did and called you on it ! As far as me having content , I do it daily in real life servicing over 3000 accounts in 3 stores , so no time for filming unlike you garage monkeys businesses actually depend on my business to keep their business running ...!

Whether it's right or wrong, I appreciate anyone who takes the time to put up an experimental video with no ads. As a lawn biz, I can't afford a month of down time every time something goes wrong, so youtube has been essential to my growth and income. I have a LOT of equipment and never once have I had to take one in to a shop for repair. I've done everything from valve adjustments on my ZTRs to complete engine swaps and I have people like this guy to thank for my education. I won't claim to know everything about small engines, but it isn't rocket science. Fuel, Air, Spark.....that's all there is to it. Yes there are a lot of oddball issues that can occur, but when you have a basic understanding for how these engines work you can easily diagnose and fix the issues 99% of the time. One thing I think is important to mention. DO NOT use knock-off parts if you're relying on your equipment for income. I've tried, and I've had mixed results. Great when it works but not worth the risk. There's a reason OEM stuff is more expensive and you usually get what you pay for. One other thing to mention. It is actually ILLEGAL to adjust carbs these days due to emissions regulations. Only certified dealers are supposed to make carb adjustments. That being said, don't be surprised when carbs no longer have low and high adjustments anymore. I have made many carb adjustments and what I've found in "MOST" cases is when the carb seems to need an adjustment, it really just needs a cleaning or replacement. They don't "fall out of adjustment" so if you're having to adjust a carb it's just compensating for a clog somewhere, and you'll never get it adjusted right. An aftermarket carb cost me many hours of adjusting and 2 weeks of a poorly running Echo trimmer so it isn't worth the savings. When I gave up and replaced it again with an OEM carb it ran perfect again. I spent a lot more than the $50 I saved on the aftermarket carb and felt like an idiot having spent so much time trying to adjust it. Hit or miss on aftermarket stuff so not worth the risk if you're relying on it for an income.

Very well thought out and presented. Thank you Mike. 🍺👍

The carb is adjustable. It takes a “micro d “ that is buried in a small hole on the carb for the high speed needle. The low speed needle is located on the top of the carb inside a brass plug where the throttle pivot is. There are a few KZbin vids on this. Trust me, they are there. ALL 2 cycles need richened after they age. They are lean from the factory to begin with because of emissions reasons. Don’t waste money on carbs you don’t need!

Where do I get the micro D wrench from?

ulitepilot aka Zombie Dave PartsWarehouse.com has the Echo Shindaiwa brand that adjusts the new Walbro carbs found on many brands and are good quality but expensive. Ebay has one made by Proline that is cheaper.

There is a foam PRE-FILTER hiding in the air cleaner lid. After 3 yrs commercial, I just found it - cleaning it is all mine needed.

If the machine ran when it was new, how did it lean out? Certainly, these machines were designed to work at elevated temps. Also, that mixture screw is hiding behind a plastic plug. Heat up a narrow tool and push it into the plastic for 30 seconds and it will stick and you can pull the plug out. Then you can adjust the mixture.

I think changing the air gap to . 015 did the most good. The oem carb on a 770 is NOT adjustable from the side and there is no plastic cover.

I replaced one of the ducts. What is the cable inside for. It was broken.
@ZombieDaveAZ3 жыл бұрын
It's not broken. The end gets frayed after a while. It's in there to disapate the static electricity. Without that cable in there you would receive a big shock every once in a while while using it.
