This talk highlights the shared experience of many immigrant/diaspora folk. Thank you for sharing your stories with such courage. It's a good reminder of the impact our childhoods have on who we believe we are/have to be to be accepted in this world.

Powerful talk, Wajeeha! You are so inspirational and I can resonate with folding away my emotions to not deal eith them.

Thank you. We've all tucked away parts of ourselves at times, it's a human response to complex emotions. The beautiful thing is, when we begin to unfold those emotions and truly face them, we start to heal and grow.

🎉 Big Cheers to Wajeeha 🌟 Congrats on the launch of your talk. Your brilliance and passion shine through the talk. The way you articulate the intricacies of emotions through origami is absolutely captivating. I know the feeling of ‘sitting like a chicken’ very well from my childhood. Your talk got me thinking - like flipping through the pages of an old photo album - about my past. Connecting the dots, it's helping me see how some of my present day struggles are just part of the larger story of my journey. Thank you for sharing your experience. Proud of you!

This hit differently!! Being educated in Bangladesh myself I could relate to every emotion. Emotions so many of us can relate , emotions we never addressed to ourselves to hide away from. Thank you for putting it out there. This video is relatable in so many ways not just the cruel education system but the way we see ourselves in many different occasions. Hats off for expressing so beautifully.

Reading your comment has truly moved me, and knowing that my talk resonated so deeply with your own experiences is both humbling and heartening. It's comforting yet bittersweet to acknowledge these shared emotions, many of which we've tucked away for so long. Your words remind me why sharing our stories is so vital-they bridge distances, heal old wounds, and foster understanding.

Wajeeha, I was so moved by the content of your story and the strength you so beautifully embody that I thought of it all day long. A second listen today took me into even greater appreciation for your brillance of the story itself and who you’ve become. I think those events that brought humiliation now serve as rich compost to the soil of the most beautiful garden of inspiration and courage that is YOU! Thank you so much for sharing your vulnerability and power.
@wajeehakhan8 ай бұрын
Your words have truly touched me, and I'm honored that my story lingered with you, inviting a deeper reflection upon a second listen. It's heartening to see my experiences, once sources of pain, being perceived as nourishment for growth and transformation. Your metaphor of turning humiliation into the compost for a beautiful garden of inspiration resonates deeply with me. This journey of vulnerability and empowerment is enriched by connections like ours.

Wow this is one emotional story. Telling your story, getting the listeners whoever and wherever they are to reflect on what happened in their life is a priviledge you triggered us to do. It made me go back to all my sensitive situations. And it also triggered me to review what I actually have achieved, who I have become since the age of 12 (my defining moment) - Extremely well told - thank you for sharing it!

Thank you for your comment. It sounds like my message may not have resonated with you as it has with others, and that's okay. We all connect with stories differently, and sometimes, what doesn't seem clear at first can be an invitation to reflect on our own experiences and perspectives. If you're curious about the deeper message of emotional unfolding, I encourage you to view the talk again when you feel ready. Discovering new layers of understanding is often a rewarding process.

But it doesn't work in India. One's name, and other related background matters here than one's real skills and talent. I'm experiencing it. I train in world English. I'm accepted by my skills and talents but rejected by my name and related things...!! If I tell lie I'm appreciated and accepted...!!!

I hear you, and it's tough when biases overshadow true talent. Despite these challenges, your abilities and authenticity will speak volumes. Keep honoring your skills-they're what truly matter. Stay true to yourself; your worth will be recognized. Keep going because you matter. ;-)
