Last week, the incomparable Dr. Will Bulsiewicz shared his latest book, The Fiber Fueled Cookbook, and this week, we keep the fantastic fiber discussion going with registered dietitian, Desiree Nielsen.
In her latest book, Good for Your Gut, she shares how to fuel gut health with anti-inflammatory plant-based foods and lifestyle strategies- from movement to managing stress-for a truly PLANTSTRONG approach to health and wellness.
Desiree even shares her “Big Three” vital foods to include every day for a healthy gut.
It’s becoming obvious just how important overall gut health is for everyone, even if you don’t suffer from GI issues. A well-functioning gut means a healthy body, healthy mind, and an iron-clad immune system.

I used to watch your show Desiree (the urban vegetarian) And I did get your book from our library ( Un-Junk Your Diet) I am so glad to see you have a new book, and plant based 🙂Will you ever have a new show that is all plant based (with out the cheeses and some other things you had on a Vegetarian show)? Thank you I still learned a lot from your other show Congrats on the new book!

Thank you Rip, for having Desiree on your podcast. I love the perspectives of a variety of plant-based professionals. I especially like the conversation regarding "Nuts & Seeds" - actually, I pre-grind at least 8 or 9 different nuts and seed (including Flax, Hemp & Chia seeds and other nuts), on a weekly basis, and then apply a tablespoon of that mix onto everything 3 times a day :)

Hi Rip, I never used to like eggplant either until I made my eggplant & lentil soup: canned tomatoes, onion, garlic, roasted eggplants cut into pieces, lentils, stock cube, fresh basil. Delicious!

I love this show, but it's an echo chamber. You will never hear opposing viewpoints here.

@@mikereed4876 Well the research shows animal products are bad for us, it would seem counter productive to have someone on the show encouraging the consumption of eggs . 🤣😂

@@Scor-ah I agree 100%, too. WFPB diet probably saved my life. 115lbs down and stronger than ever. Plant strong, you might say.

@@mikereed4876 The point of this channel is to support people in their plant strong journeys, not to debate the merits of the plant based diet. No shortage of opposing viewpoints out there if you're interested. Rip has been on Brad Kearns' podcast at least once recently. And Earthing Ed's YT channel is almost exclusively debates with non-vegans about the merits of a plant based diet.
