I'm a 5w4 and this was disturbingly accurate. The collecting knowledge because of fear/insecurity has amplified as I've gotten older. When I was younger I think I collected knowledge because of genuine curiosity, but now I do it to protect myself -- to ensure I can always find a job, to not seem like an idiot, etc.

The clearest explanation of 5 (im 5w4) I've come across - accurately spoke to the core and health and deterioration. Even with knowledge I'm still floating in space - I think this has been a good thing to learn - forced me to learn how to deal with my anxiety in different ways🥴🤦‍♀And slowly learning to share - takes a lot of intentional redirecting of my energy 🙏

Two things: I most definitely recommend your services to anyone and again thank you... Second, the Force (Fe) is strong within Teo ; ) It literally takes me hours in the mirror talking to myself like I'm crazy in order to give up from not being satisfied with my performance to just say the hell with it, it is what it is. You make it look so easy throughout your videos 😅. Fe specifically in the auxiliary position in my mind seems rare in this world. Man, so many are most definitely mistyped in the community... Respect to you and your work, my friend. Great video. You nailed it 👌🏽

I am an INfJ with enneagram 5 followed by 4 and 9. I was very amused by the comment about the desire for Isolation and the level of introversion of these guys. You really hit the nail on the head. What left me thoughtful, is the theory that the enneagram 5 doesn't want to share their ideas with others to feel safe. I always thought I did that for other reasons: fear of criticism, fear of outside influence...and a few other reasons. But at the end of the day it's still fear. Thanks for that new perspective. i discovered your Channel last week and so far I love it.

Im an ENTP and I often score highest in Type 5 and your explanation definitely hits home. I am still learning but I question my personality and type literally everyday which seems characteristic of a 5w6 which i hypothesize myself to be! Thanks for being you!

Encouraging others to contribute their ideas and talents to see how we can shape a solution better than anything we could do on our own now seems more enjoyable than hiding away to study, but it has taken a long time, 60+ years, to reach that point. In a totally new situation, like driving in an unfamiliar area, the “need to know, now!” compulsion still rears it’s head, but it’s also easier to step back and question it. There are many gifts as well: appreciating silence, the fun of exploring new ideas and the sense of conversing with great minds when one reads widely.

i really loved this video along with your entire approach to mbti and enneagram in all of your videos. In years of trying to determine my type and wading through stereotypes and misinfo I really feel that you have been the most helpful and reliable source to work from as a knowledge base. I really hope you do videos on enneagram wings in the future, as that feels like the last piece I'm missing to properly determine my enneagram. Thank you for making these videos!

Quite honestly, I don't think people even know why they do what they do. As a 5w4 I don't think about why I'm constantly knowledge seeking. I do it because it's a compulsion. I couldn't dream of not seeking knowledge. I also withdraw because _I have to._

As a 5 I agree with everything in video but at 6:19 you mention the 5s desire to be "superior"...etc. Maybe its just me but I dont agree with that word choice. I would say the desire would be to have "an edge" over competition or be able to contribute something no one else can would be more accurate. The word choice "superior" implies a big ego. I dont have a big ego at all. I am just worried about survival. I have no desire to put anyone else down or brag about what I know.

Keep the series going!!!!! *cough* get to 7 *cough*. I might also bug you about tritypes at some point. I haven’t decided if Katherine is off her rocker and everything is absolute hogwash, or if there’s something to it yet 😆.

You should get into trifix, because some of what you said about 5's seems like a mix of 5 and 3, or even 2. The over-focus on being competent for others is something I don't relate to. I'm ok floating in space lol. I just want to be competent for myself. If I have to please others to achieve what I want, then I will spend more time focusing on how not to need that, rather than focusing on how to meet the expectations of others... I've read that this is a mistake, but I still can't see it as one.
@INFJinxed
@INFJinxed 2 жыл бұрын
I like and use the tritype concept - I think with respect to this video, in particular, the part about wanting to be competent for others was maybe not enough explained by me here. Type 5 wants to be competent and useful - but the underlying fear is that one will not be able to remain safe in the world unless enough competence is achieved -> and of course, because we live in a society where competence changes value based on context (and people), this affects the perceived competence of the individual (the type 5 in this context). Now, this is different from type 3 who wants to be competent because of value/worth reasons.

@@INFJinxed I don't disagree with your core definition, only some of the extrapolations. They seemed like 53x or 52x descriptions. You are a core type 2 iirc, and I'm quite sure you don't have an 8 fix, so I wanted to share my perspective as a 584, because this may be a blind spot for you. It may seem obvious that humans need to keep a good image to get the benefits of competence, but that is not how I think/feel. I sometimes find myself aiming to seem incompetent, even with people that would benefit me if I appeared competent, like my boss, for as long as it is the truth. I'm not sure why. Maybe it's to satisfy a need to be genuine? Maybe it's to separate image-focused people from me? Idk. The anxiety of being incompetent only comes if I fail my own standards. Failing the standards of others only invigorates me to achieve without them... I'm guessing a 514 would be similar, but maybe more deliberate, but Idk about 594. My understanding of 9's is not as good.

@@georgecataloni4720 Yes, that makes sense to me. Indeed, I don't have an 8 fix - my tritype is 296

LoL, this idea hording is so me. When I learn esoteric ideas weather it be in regards to health or spirituality, I think about how it'll make me "superior" to other. I say "the close-minded deserve to be oppressed by their ignorance"
